Hammer Clone

As if the "real" one is remotely worth $280. Mech mods are a dime a dozen these days. I contend that these manufacturers cashing in on the $200+ mech mod market by churning out slightly variated designs are the real charlatans. At least the Chinese are giving you a product at a fair price.

This Hammer mod makes no sense to me. It serves no purpose, functions exactly the same as any other mech mod, and is a Gaelic themed device made by Koreans. ...? At least if you're buying it as a novelty you might as well get the reasonably priced version instead of the highway robbery pricing the "authentic" version commands

Of course, the counterfeiters are stealing others time, energy and work product. You have a choice you know, buy other products that are not counterfeits, but why support theft?

Why? Because $250 for a chunk of metal is outrageous. Why? Because for everyone that says its "art" is rediculous. If it was art it would be one of a kind... even the original manufacturer produces a clone of its first copy.

Why? Because if the manufacturer wanted to protect his/her product there are international patents that they can file to cover it. If they dont, they have no reason to gripe, complain, or pout like a hurt child. Its their own fault. Heck they dont even file a trademark on the name of their mod which is even cheaper to do.

I will buy my cheap knockoffs, and be grateful that manufacturers dont know how to, or cant afford, to legally protect their creations. Frankly, if they cant afford a patent then they shouldnt make the product, or not complain when it gets ripped off.

They are the cause of their own problem. Besides all they are doing is replicating someone else's technology with a different design.

Are they paying the guy that hold the origonal ecig patents anything?? Nope. Case closed.

exactly. if the "high end" mod makers did not gouge you on their prices, they'd have much less of a competition from the cloners. a jacked up price does not equal great quality. of course it could, but that part is up to debate. all thats certain on a jacked up price is that the price is indeed jacked up.

and then theres the whole thought that the high end mod makers are actually double-dipping and working for the cloners as well as the original makers. so essentially you can get a "clone" at what the original *should* cost.

this whole original vs clone thing is tired, boring, and pathetic. if you like originals, buy originals. if you like clones, buy clones. if you like both, buy both. for me, i like to buy interesting items that wont break my bank. be it original, clone, or whatever.

Well, it's more like making a copy of Mona Lisa, and selling it for $10. I hear all kinds of people do that :) I actually have a few replica paintings in my house. More so, I don't even feel guilty for having copies on my walls.

Art is not always one of a kind buddy. Art comes in all shape and forms. Clones are a knock off of some persons hard work. I'm not saying that they are crap, I own a few myself. A clone is a knock off of a piece of art. To call something like a reprint a knock off is stupid, it's a print of the original. On a completely different medium. Clones are like taking Van Gogh's starry night and painting it yourself. I'm not saying it's ...., it's just not the original. I'm all for ballin on a budget but to say someone's originality and work of design isn't worth something is absolute crap. Someone took the time to design it and it came to life. China copied it and mass produced it. I'd personally rather help the person that took the time and effort to design it.

It's about 23mm at the atty base. My 22mm attys are a tiny bit narrow but look great.

A few things. The mod comes with 18500 and 18650 extension tubes, but it's really made to be an 18350 mod. First off, as you'll see, it looks dis proportioned in anything larger than 18350 mode. Which I expected to be the case.

Further, you'll likely want flat top 18350s as my button top ones are too large for it to not auto fire. So that's a bit disconcerting but what can you do. I've just been keeping the switch mechanism unscrewed slightly to accommodate.

Other than that no complaints so far. No voltage drop without load. It is made by tobeco. Engraving is of good quality. 510 pin floats but it a tiny bit crunchy. The threading is good. Tiny burs existed which worked themselves out in a few revolutions. Button is decently smooth. A bit crunchy but nothing to cry over. The unit is incredibly solid. It's no lightweight pv folks! Heavier than my chi you clone and provari.

I have no idea of the internal workings of the hammer, but is there any way to configure it so the battery extension tube is inline with the atty connection? Meaning it adds the length to the atty portion, not the switch portion. The picture higher up (the stock photos with the kayfun looking atty on top) appears to be extended on the atty portion, not the switch portion, or am I missing something?

Yup. You can configure it with the extension on the atty portion instead of the switch portion. You can use either the battery part or the atty part to screw your switch onto. Pics below. And as a matter of fact, it looks better that way. If you're using 18500 or 18650 that is. However, the tubes don't screw all the way down even with a shorter 18650, like MNKE. Also, the switch doesn't make a full connection with it threaded onto the mods atty female. I needed two magnets stacked to allow it to fire. But it does work.

Also, regarding my comment earlier about the button top 18350s being too long and auto firing, all you have to do is flip the batt and it no longer auto fires. And as a matter of fact, I believe that's how the batt should be inserted in the first place because doing it this way puts the positive terminal of the battery right up against the mods vent holes.

Cheers guys. This mod is lots of fun. Hope you guys get yours delivered swiftly. :vapor:

Here's the box. The tubes it comes with are 18500, and 18650. The post with my first photos of it- the one that makes the mod look "L-shaped"- is with both of the tubes. That would be for 18650 kicked obviously. But I clearly would be using it with the tubes going horizontally instead of vertically like was suggested by uncle chuck (if I were to go larger than 18350, which I don't prefer. I bought this mod as an 18350 mod). Tiny tweaks are needed for this setup like I mentioned in my last post but looks better than that l-shaped weirdness.

I received my Hcigar version a few days ago. I tend to use a Kick 2 in my mechs and don't see a way to do so with this guy. The extensions really make this thing look weird anyway but a small one for a kick would be nice.

The tobeco version came with tubes, maybe there's a chance hcigar made extra tubes too. Also the hcigar chi you clone tubes fit the tobeco hammer and I've been told that the astro clone tubes fit it too.
