My brass FT hammer clone arrived this morning and here I thought it was still in Hong Kong.

Beautiful beautiful piece even if it arrived so dirty it looks like it barely survived a mud wrestling match. For S&Gs I immediately threw in an 18350 battery, screwed on my Russian and it works. You can tell voltage drop is substantial.

Plan is to clean it up and no ox id all contacts and test voltage drop. Then scour this thread for ideas to make this hammer really sing.

I'll share pics as well.

Had an idea that turned out to be good (and that rarely happens). I took the center pin out of my kayfun and put in a longer screw, removed the 510 pin from the Hammer top cap, and adjusted the new atty screw so that it touches the brass battery tube inside the Hammer. A drastically lower voltage drop, comparable to that of my Aqua when using the same atty and battery.

I found out that you can also use the fusions mods Hy Chi adapter.

A bit of an expensive option (compared to others) if you only plan on using this for the Hammer. But it's 21x1 threaded, so it may come in handy turning some other 21x1 mechs you own into a hybrid as well.

Also, the adjustable brass battery spacer they sell looks to be a perfect low voltage drop option for reverse cap assembly.

Genius. You created a hybrid adapter! Which screw did you use for the kayfun?

I like the knurled locking ring. Contacts sound good too.

There is an cigreen clone that has the knurled locking rings and silver contact too. I seen it on ebay for $32.00 though I don't like the way it looks based on the images.

Hammer Mod by Kato Clone with Extension Tubes Mechanical Mod USA Seller | eBay

On a side note, I really have been enjoying my FT gold edition. I replaced the top cap with a regular chi you top cap for now until my flat top cap comes in. Since I am getting the AIOS and plan on running it hybrid anyway I am happy enough for now.

Seems to be pretty nicely made though it is GOLD PLATED and i worry about the plating coming off. Is the regular fast tech one also plated rather than polished SS?

I will post pics this week.

The best ideas are born out of hangovers :) Unfortunately I only have a regular steel screw in there at the moment (M4 thread/screw size, if I remember correctly). Correct size screws made of stainless steel, brass, or other reasonable materials seem to be difficult to find, but I'm on the lookout.

I figured there was something out there.. the question is is if it works with every atomizer I'd want to put on it. If someone hasn't gotten around to seeing about it with the hammer, I'll get one. This mod just sits on my desk for dry burning coils.. such a waste. I love how it feels on the hand..18490 mode isn't bad either.

I think I'm going to get that new clone. H cigar already had a version out didn't they?

I've got the Hcigar. Mine was good to go out of the box, the 510 pin on mine is fine. I've got a .5Ω dual coil Origen dripper that lives on it, and I vape it a bit every night. I ... love this mod in 18490, the way it holds and sits down. Outside of my Reos, I've grown to be a huge fanboy of the Hammer.

I'm ordering the Hy Chi fusions mods hybrid adapter, because I think if anything that adapter + another brass adjustable battery spacer they sell on their site seems PERFECT for reverse cap assembly. No more stacked pennies or fuses adding even more voltage drop or amp limit when reverse assembled with 18650. Should turn the Hammer into a mech that truly hangs with the 18650 big boys.

Just to be clear I am pretty sure the listing Funk showed in his post is a clone of the hcigar supposedly hence the clone of a clone phrasing. I saw a cigreen version on ebay yesterday that looks exactly the same. In the large pics on the eBay listing the details look very poorly machined/stamped/cast.

my FT hammer has arrived. when i first set it up it did not want to fire at all. after cutting a bit of the spring from my vamo and installing it between the to halves of the 510 pin its working pretty good. currently using a 1.5ohm coil in a PT and i am liking the vape. waiting for the kayfun to get delivered so i can try a real build on it.

was there ever any consensus on the hcigar vs tobeco versions?

scanned the whole thread but couldn't really put my finger on it

I've got an Hcigar. It's awesome. .2V-ish voltage drop with the stock 510 cap, which is totally fine by me.

I wouldn't throw super low stuff below .4Ω on it, but I wouldn't do that with anything using a spring-loaded pin anyways.

There are a lot of options for fixing the 510 situation if you want it to say maybe vape with the 18650 big boys or salvage a Tobeco version. And yes, that original Tobeco version was a piece of garbage, literally a paper weight. Terrible machining, batteries wouldn't fit, and the voltage drop was so high it was un-vapable.

Cheers

loving my FT hammer clone only issue i have is my 18650 efest battery will not fit in the battery chamber. the inner sleeve is to small. so i am stuck with using 350's and having to swap batteries every 12-24hrs of use. using my cloud size as a guide, since i dont have a multi mete, once i hit about 3.5volts on the battery i need to charge. using my vamo v4 to check voltage before installing and every now and then during use. nice clouds out of a PT with 1.5ohm coil and cotton wick. waiting for the mail to get here ith my kayfun to really see what i can do with the hammer.

i hear your concerns about the tobeco version. the machining on mine wasnt bad (great actually), but i dont doubt that some people's was bad.

the 510 was indeed in need of a mod. if i didnt own an AIOS (or a chi you replacement cap), id be replacing the spring with a brass rod. with the AIOS, the v-drop falls into a very acceptable range. i cant recall the details as its been a while, but it was acceptable to me and the vape is great imo. the other fix for the 510 i mentioned earlier is to either use a chi you 510 cap or to get the flat chi you replacement cap for a few bucks.

as far as the batteries go, i too had a problem fitting some. but the batt tube has stretched through use just enough to allow me to swap batts without much effort. still, some batts are tight. what solves this is the new purple eFest 18350s. they fit perfectly. and they have a killer amp limit (10.5A). no need to get goofy with the awkward larger batt configurations (if you consider them awkward).

i have had my hammer about a week now and after filing down the plastic sleeve i was able to get my efest 18650's to fit. but i can only install them in the L configuration because the other hole in the hammer isnt large enough for the battery sleeve to fit into. is this how all hammer are or just some of the ones from FT? i am really liking my hammer other than i drain my 800mah 18350 batteries in a few hrs and then have to switch to vaping on my vamo while waiting for them to recharge.

?????

If your talking reverse cap assembly; the extension tube where the battery goes stays the same. Screw the 510 cap where the button goes, and the button where the 510 cap went. Throw the battery in negative side down as well.

You'll need a spacer for the button to work and make contact with the tube to fire, it won't reach down far enough. Some people even make larger spacers so they can use the 18490 cap below the button because it's even more pipe like that way in reverse assembly. AKA this:
