Sounds like a pretty shady B&M.

All svoemesto has to do is take out a big online retailer... I don't care that they are a Russian company. The illegal sales are taking place in the United States. Who knows, maybe the government will go after the dealers of counterfeited products...

Yeah, that's exactly what this industry needs, government intervention.

SM isn't going after any big online retailers. They have more important things to do. Hana wasted their time and money. At most the shop in question will close its doors for a couple of months while the principals swap names and form a new llc, then re open under the new name. For six months or so they won't sell counterfeit hana modz, but that'll be about the end of it.

Apparently self regulation of selling counterfeits hasn't worked...

My guess is they will never re-open, unless the owners have a lot of money in the bank or other jobs...

Also - what you call a shady b&m is one of the better shops I've even heard about. They take the time to explain battery safety to new customers, and make reccomendations that are actually reasonable based on the customers stated desires. I won't name them now, because I've outed them on the clone front and that'd be kida a low blow, but yeah, they do it rifght.

They also recognize the reality of modern e commerce, and if they don't offer products with equivalent quality with a reasonable markup over import, they won't keep their doors open at all. $50 for a good Chinese nemesis clone is a discount and a half vs similar quality original mechs (for example) and while it is well marked up from their costs, it's not so much a markup that the wait for china to us shipping is automatically more attractive.

If they couldn't offer products in that gap between Chinese e store prices vs the wait they would quickly go bankrupt anyway, so why not sell clones?

If I went to an electronics store which was selling counterfeit stereo equipment or fake iPhones, I'd call them shady, as well, and hope they go out of business or are regulated out of business...

Now that the SubTank has been counterfeited, it will be interesting to see what Kanger does. I remember reading about early e-cig companies filing complaints against each other in China...

? There have been cloned protanks and aerotanks for a long time. And Aspire tanks. I don't think Kanger will do anything.

The SubTank is the most expensive thus far, so I imagine they won't sell in the same numbers the cheaper tanks did. More of a loss to Kanger if the SubTank is counterfeited. I think more are willing to buy fake SubTanks than the less expensive tanks because the difference is $10 or more, rather than just a few $...

I don't know. The Aerotank Turbo was up there in price, too. The Mega and Giant were similar in price to the Subtank mini and nano.

Isticks are cheap, but there are.clones of those as well.

The Doge and Mutation X are cheap, but there are.clones of those, too.

The SubTank seems to be far more popular than the other tanks, given they aren't easy to find.

China companies cloning China makers. If they don't care why should we? Those two companies were in the US in the lawsuit. It will stop nothing. Hana made in US and store imported China clones or made replicas and sold them as authentic. It does not really say which in the court papers. Now perhaps some China company clones Provari or starts making them the same and the American company starts selling them as a authentic Provari then their could be a suit from Provari against the store. It certainly won't hurt the clone maker in China or stop us from buying them from China. Provari is only used for example purposes for sake of discussion. CHEERS!

I was really surprised to find a Mutation X clone. Even though I knew I would not use mine much, I still bought an authentic. Very well worth it for the price they're going for!

There actually is a Provari clone being made, but I haven't seen it sold in the US. Pretty sure it was selling in Australia and assume they're being sold in other countries too if they're still on the market.

Did you read the last highlighted line in my post?

I don't even know if the Chinese do sue each other. It might not part of their culture like it is in the US. They cut each other off supplying parts sometimes when they get upset about something. Honestly, cloning appears to be the norm there. They may not care anyone is copying their stuff. I have no idea.

There were some heated e-cig wars in the early days of cigar like mods...

How about the Internet bloggers getting their fair share of lawsuits. They push these "Known" Branded Logo Counterfeits to the web audience and collect hit money "links that generate them cash" from the wholesalers or resellers. They are getting a cut in the illegal trade action also. (according to U.S. trade laws) Those bloggers know exactly what they are doing and hoping nobody cares because they are pushing a cheap product that has demand and they are profiting from them. They figure they are helping the community. not- they are only helping themselves.
