I was thinking about opening a thread where we will conduct general chit chat. Tell us how your day went, what your favorite e-liquid is, how your phiniac tank is looking and working. At the end of a predetermined amount of time, we will then use a random generator to pick a post number and whoever posted that number will win a Sneaky Pete and a tank of choice from the website.

What does everyone think...

I would love a chance to win a sneaky pete!! Although a random post might be tricky if there isn't a limit on the amount of posts you can make. Maybe in a new thread you can have people post once telling why they want to win a sneaky pete and at the end use a random number generator to pick a post. Although with a contest like that you get a lot of people trying to play the 'sympathy card' giving sob stories about this, that, and the other... that always brings the mood down. But I think something along those lines with 1 post each and a random winner would be fun and fair.

All good ideas, but do we want to limit people to one post?

I'm just throwing out ideas. The thing is the last two contests have been a little work intensive. The hat contest more so then the mad libs. But the mad libs is not work free. We have to find (or in the case of this weeks write) a mad lib, I have to setup the forms, test the form, read them all pick a winner, send out the finished mad libs. I don't mind doing these things, I actually enjoy running the contest very much!! But I actually have a real job and I have been really neglecting it recently and I have to spend a little time tending to my website and print customers or I will not have any! So I thought this contest would give everyone an equal chance to win. You don't have to be funny, you don't have to have fast internet and you don't have to be home at a certain time. All you really have to do is join in on the chit chat. And really with the random generator all you need to do is post once, but your odds increase if you post more then once.

Again, nothing is written in stone and the sneaky petes are not even hear yet, nor are the tanks to match them! I'm just thinking out loud and trying to come up with a laid back contest that will run itself, give me a break and be fair to all. And then after that I assume we will do another CRAZY contest!

I don't know that I will have a limit, but I will limit how/what can be posted. For example no posting nonsense, or posting to just up your chances, we will start with a topic and go from there. So if we start with "Where would you Sneak your Pete to" and some one says Paris, someone else is allow to talk about their last trip to Paris!

I should have added on the "Sneak your Pete" to pick randomly with the # thing you talked about .... that way you don't have to decide who's story is best, and folks can elaborate on their destination only if they want to.....
I liked the chat thing also - limiting posts or not would be up to you.

Hey guys, we just got a PM that was disturbing to us on the Vapers Forum... The sender said that she has read in many places that our tanks were imported from China. While we have not read posts of this nature we want to make sure everyone knows the following:

Phiniac.com is a family run & operated business.
ALL GLASS ITEMS FOUND ON THE WEBSITE ARE MADE IN THE USA HERE IN THE BEAUTIFUL FLATHEAD VALLEY OF MONTANA!
In addition the caps for our tanks are machined locally in Kalispell, Montana!

We need your input. So we have the aluminum caps and they are working fine. While some people do not have a problem with aluminum others do, so we are now considering Stainless. Personally I would prefer stainless. Even better when we went to the machine shop the other day and they were machining Titanium... That would be awesome, but price wise it will never happen. Anyway back to the point at hand... Obviously Stainless would be heavier, but still nicer and it will last forever.

We have not gotten the prices of what the aluminum caps will cost us from the machine shop once we machine them at numbers more then the 10 prototype test caps we received. We didn't bother asking the price as shortly after the prototypes arrived we started thinking stainless. We are however assuming we would be able to sell the aluminum caps for somewhere int he ball park of $14 - $15.

As for the stainless, we did get the prices and they are really expensive!! The bottom line is we are thinking we can sell them for between $22 and $26.

So the question is, what do you guys want to see. Should we do aluminum or stainless. Again I am still leaning towards not doing the aluminum at all. We have a quality tank and we want to keep it that way.

Id rather have the stainless, but I would probably buy the aluminum because of price. I have 2 kids and my wife is a stay at home mom so money for anything is hard to come by. I'm sure for a lot of people price is the biggest factor for buying anything. If you get some stainless you should do a side by side comparison pic with the aluminum, just to see how different they look.

Well, I am hoping others will chime in. If there is an interest for the aluminum, maybe we will do both, but I think if we go that way we will let everyone know that we highly suggest the Stainless. It is not even a matter of profit. We are pricing the Stainless so low we are just barely breaking even.

For every person that says there is no issues at all with aluminum, there is a person who says the complete opposite. Some say it is safe for vaping while others say it is not. I am not knowledgeable enough to chime in.

From my stand point however, safety issues aside, the SS is overall a MUCH higher quality product, it will last forever, while over time the aluminum will pit.

People are also stating that over time the aluminum will turn your juice different colors and leave a bad taste. I've been testing a set of the aluminum caps for close to 48 hours. I filled a tank, vaped for a little while then when I started reading some the negative posts about aluminum I left the tank with juice in it sitting for about 40 of those 48 hours and the juice is the same color and the taste is no different.

Even so, I have not decided if I am comfortable backing a product with such a mixed reputation.

I am fairly certain that as soon we get the proper packaging we will sell the 5 set of caps we have (use at your own risk). Then after that if there is no one who wants to pay the price of stainless we will either just stick with plastic or maybe rethink selling the aluminum as a use at your own risk if people really want it.

We did plan on anodizing, but atthis point if we are only selling the 5 sets we have, it is cost prohibitive to anodize. BUT it seems that those that are against the aluminum say the anodizing eventually comes off.

I am far from a chemist so I really do not know the ins and outs of aluminum.

From a personal stand point, I agree with you, aluminum (not anodized) is used in the food industry. I am using the aluminum caps right now as I type (not anodized) and I am not worried.

But from a business stand point, I am not suited to get into a debate as to whether or not aluminum is safe and healthy, so I am not sitting in a place that I can defend selling it. Further, and this is my big issue, we set out to create a high quality product... That being said I do not know if I want to take the risk of a product that is going to "pit" or an anodized product that will wear off and then pit.

If we do decide to move forward with the aluminum we might simply put a note of the product that says the following:

"Use at own risk. Please research the ongoing debate concerning aluminum and eLiquids and make an educated opinion before purchasing"

There is only one thing I can I can tell you for sure. We have 5 sets of aluminum caps here. The only reason they are not in stock at the moment is we are waiting on shipping envelops to sell them. As soon as they arrive you are more then welcome to purchase a set. And better yet, once you have used them, please share your experience with us!

Personally I'm happy to pick up a set (or two or three but I digress) of the stainless. Yes it's a touch more expensive in the short term but consider...

* As you say, the stainless will pretty much last forever - others, not so much
* No debate over using stainless steel with juice
* Stainless would match my mod just a bit more :)

Then again, I'd also pay a little bit more for tinted pyrex tanks - in say Screaming Red, a Deep Sea Blue, you get the idea. Then I'd worry even less than I do now (which isn't much) about light being a factor using the clear glass tanks doing something to my niquid. For as long as it lasts in my tanks now - I'm not really that concerned - but it would still be cool. I don't know that I'd need something quite as artsy fartsy as a Tiffany inspired stained glass tank - but that's not to say I wouldn't pull the trigger on one if such a thing showed up on the site
