I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can have brass in any tanks because it is not corrosion resistant plus if often has some lead in it that may leach out......

Agreed that Brass would require a bit of maintenance if you don't like the patina that can develop.

The biggest potential issue with brass is that some alloys contain Lead to make machining easier, so that would have to be avoided. Otherwise it is primarily Copper and Zinc, and IIRC some of the best for this kind of purpose would have either a bit of Aluminum in the alloy or would be DZR Brass which is more resistant to corrosion.

There are a very few Brass capped tanks out there, but apparently demand hasn't been high enough to warrant making them in any quantity. I'm hoping the increasing use of wood and trim Brass in mods, and the burgeoning Steampunk aesthetic, will reverse this trend -- 'cause I really want some Brass capped tanks. :)

Happened once in High School, I walked into the Men's Bathroom and there's this girl I knew standing there brushing her hair. I looked at her and said "Hi, 'eh, what are you doing in here?"

She looked and me and said "What are YOU doing in HERE?"

So .. I looked around and saw that the Men's Room looked strangely different today!? I then turned about 3 shades of purple, said "Ooops, sorry!" .. turned around and beat feet outta there!

Well I reckon I'll put my :2c: in. I'd really like the ss caps, you get quality when you buy quality. Like you I have read about alum not being good for vaping ejuice and I'm sure one day we will know more, but for now as a business aspect I can understand your concerns and precautions.

Can't wait for the glass drip tips. Once your business is booming the color tanks (purple and blue plz) would be great. I don't even have my tank yet and I know that I will definitly recommend your tanks.

It's cold here (27 deg. & dropping) and snowing. Our first snow of the season.
I put in a 13 hr. day and am now home relaxing, vaping on my new Orion that arrived today, drinking a hot toddy, wrapped in my favorite blankie  and dreaming about my new Phiniac tank :) .

First snow... Gosh we have had snow since october, but hasn't been much since mid december... Just really cold with the occasional flurry.

On the caps, between Aluminum and SS I'd have to vote Aluminum. Not complaining (much), but relatively speaking the fancier glass tanks are already in "luxury item" territory. Aluminum would minimize the hit.

But honestly, I can't vote for either because what I really want is Brass. :) That would probably be more than aluminum, but I can't imagine it being as expensive as SS.

You hit the nail on the head. Yes we are well aware that the price of our tanks make them a luxury item. Believe me we wish we could price them so they are not. I know many believe that we are raking in all sorts of money on these, but the truth of the matter is, if we ever do turn a profit, it won't even cover the time spent! These are very costly to make. The cost of energy to fire them and run the oven is sky high alone.

But this is were our problems choosing the proper metal is giving us difficulty. First there is the theory that such a high quality tank should have the best quality cap. But then there is the fact that if we go SS we are putting a complete setup at a price that is prohibitive to most and we do not want any of our offerings to be prohibitive to most! Finally, we also need to protect ourselves. We do not want to sell something that will pit, or make people sick and gain a bad rep for that.

I think at this point we will be offering the delrin as our "affordable" choice and the SS for those that wish to indulge! We might also consider the aluminum anodized, but still there are quality issues there as we are told that anodizing wears.

As for brass, that would be cool, I do not know what the health risks are though. Heck we even tossed around the idea of gold plating, but of course with the current price of gold, that is just a dream!

Well .. actually .. there is.

If you wanted to offer a SS cap that was controversy free, you would have to go the route of Surgical Grade Stainless Steel ... but now you're talking big bucks!

There might be a way around the prohibitive cost, a good person to talk to on this subject would be Zen~.

... but you didn't hear it from me.

Well then all will be happy to know we only considered and priced surgical grade SS.

The $22 - $26 price per set I threw out there yesterday was for Surgical Grade. See I wasn't joking when I said that we have priced the SS at a price that we were almost giving them away. We are not researching this to make huge piles of money, we are doing so simply because they look awesome on the tanks and we want every one to have the option and price them so as many as possible can afford them.

In the end if they are healthy or not, they will start looking bad when they tarnish and brass does tarnish.

VERY FUNNY! Sounds like a recurring dream that many have. What was it that gave it away the lack of urinals or the fact that you were standing in a clean bathroom?

The worst part was I actually stood there for a moment or two thinking to myself .. "When did they move the mirrors to the other side of the room?" .. followed by .. "Where are the urinals ??", and finally .. "Did they remodel ???".

Here's the reason I suggested that ... Zen is building/releasing his Zenesis line of PV's - he decided to go with SG SS for his built-in tank but found the machining cost prohibitive until he located a outfit in Chicago that is already turning SG SS.

He then talked them into machining left over end of rods for him (instead of recycling them). So my thinking was that since you and he are making very different products (I don't see where you'd be in competition) it might behoove both of you to join forces in purchasing from his supplier.

Just a thought.

Later, when I have time I'll try to track down the exact post where he discusses all this ... who knows? It might be worth your while to check into it.

I think the choice has been made! Not to say we can't change it later, but for now this is the plan.

We are going to go with the SS (and from here on out I will remember to include the fact that they are surgical grade) I am truly sorry for to those who will find it cost prohibitive. It will be a little while before we have the SG SS machined. Hopefully not too long. When we crunch the numbers and see how many SG SS caps we can machine I will let everyone know the exact price.

As for the aluminum, we are benching it for a while. As soon as the packaging gets here we will put the 5 sets we have up for sale... BUT THESE ARE BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

And just a note... The original juice I put in my tank with aluminum caps is still the same exact color. So this evening will make 72 hours. I have been using my other PV to vape. Every now and again I take a hit from the one with the aluminum caps and I notice no taste difference. I am going to continue to leave this juice sitting to see when and if the color or taste changes. At this point I am just curious.

As for future aluminum, if we do decide to move forward we will need to revisit anodizing.
