I haven't used more than eight of the Smoktech 1.7 ohm LR XLs but I haven't had any problem with hard draw except when there is juice in the center air passage after refilling. I routinely check for that after filling now.

I also find that the taste of these cartos improves after the first couple of fillings. I've been using the current 1.7 for nine days now.

There is a draw adjustment screw at the base of these cartos. 1/4 turn either way provides the full range of adjustment. It's easiest to make this adjustment after filling the carto. I do it with a drip tip on and before mounting the carto on the pv.

I have tried all methods- syringe, dripping, condom with Taryn Method, etc and I found the syringe method pushed the filler away from the outside wall. Everyone here has different success with diff methods and you just have to find what you like best.

Toothpick is a pretty tight fit. I might try the paper clip next. I also noticed that is looks like the filler is shrinking away from the sides. What is that from? If its compressing, that could be restricting my airflow pretty good...

How do you get to the draw adjustment screw?

Just look at the base (threaded battery end) of the carto. The head of the adjustment screw is the center of the base fitting. It's a slotted screw, the head is about 5mm in diameter so you can't miss it. It has an air passage hole in the center of the screw.

Top doesn't look full, almost dry in fact, but I am getting a gurgling sound. What is that from?
A little too much liquid in he center air passageway. After a proper filling and checking that the air passageway is clear I sometimes get a little gurgling from my Smoktech 1.7 and 2.0 LR XLs along with some extra pop and crackle. It goes away after vaping a few draws.

i also get several weeks out of each Dual Coil 1.5ohm carto i use. have used them with as low as 50/50 pg/vg just fine.

of course if i use something like cinnayum from mtnvapor.com i have to clean them after a week, when i can see black specks getting kicked out all over during the cleaning. the stuff is light colored enough, but there's some sediments in there that collect on the coils. still nowhere as bad as the pecan roll (looks like dirty oil even at 100pg) which i loved but could only vape for 3 or 4 hits before not getting anything without a wash.

if you're truly talking 1.7 ohm single coil (which i think you are) then yeah, lifespan is worthless on those, skip them and move up to a dual coil 1.5, you'll be much happier.

could also be the air hole in the middle getting clogged with juice, which is simple enough to clear, but usually its the coils that get gunked up and a paper clip/blowing out won't help you there.

I fill my single coil Smoktech 1.7 and 2.0 LR XLs by dripping into the top end. As the carto nears full capacity I drip maybe three drops at a time and set the carto down to soak. I stand the carto upright on a flat surface like the lid of my tupperware juice box or on a piece of kleenex on the counter top. When filled, a couple drops (no more) will leak out the bottom of the carto. This leakage will carry dark particulate matter (scale from the coils) away from the carto. In effect, I am flushing most of this loose scale away every time I fill the carto. That improves the flavor of long-life cartos.

Using the condom method of refilling only forces that loose scale back into the filler packing.

I find that my single coil LR XLs provide reliable flavor and last me for at least a week on the 3.7V E-Power 14650. Ten days or more is not uncommon.

That seems to have fixed it for me yzer! After 2 hours it of coarse isn't vaping brand brand new, but very close. The draw difference is barely noticeable between the three day old and the one I opened this morning. Vapor production is back 100%, heat is back 100% and draw is back about 90-95% which I am happy with. Flavor is back 100% as well.

I had to do three things. None of them worked individually, but together, worked like a charm.
First I took the top off and blew through the battery end as hard as I could and as long as I could. I found that I got a massive amount of juice out. Possibly from overfilling. Seems to have collected at the bottom and just sat there.
Next I very gently turned the draw adjustment screw using my thumbnail 1/2 turn. Wasn't quite right so I went 1/2 turn to get back and another 1/2 turn to the other way. I then had to gently push the screw back into center as it drifted a little to the side.
Last, I put a paperclip through the battery end very gently and worked it around just a little.

Vaped for half an hour and thought it was getting a little dry so I slowly added about 10 drops directly into the filler (not down the side, but avoiding the airway carefully) then let it sit for 5 minutes.

Fired it back up and it's been great for the last hour and a half!

I tried each of these things separately and they only helped for about 5 puffs. Once I did them all together, everything seems restored!

How do you clean them out? And also, I have a smok tech 1.5 DC that I have been waiting for the perfect juice to try. It's huge! Do you use the huge ones, or are there 1.5 dcs that you can get closer to a 1.5 or 2ml size? I think the one I have is 5ml...
