@Rule62 -----------------thx for the info I did not think that this stainless steel cable would be a problem but was glad that other people gave me info on this.

Some things are better thought thru as some people would use Galvanized and mite be a problem better safe than sorry.-----thetrucker

Thanks. Having spent a long carreer as a welder, I can tell the difference between ss and galvanized immediately, just by appearance. But I have to remember that others who may have never worked with metals might not be as familiar.

The original thread on SS cable for wicks, more info than you probably wold ever want on this subject.
Wire Rope for Wick? | E-Cigarette Forum

Discussion of Galvanized SS cabling begins around post 140-ish. I didn't hunt for the post about lead, might have been from another vaping forum, but I have personally seen the lead warning on all the bulk spools I've looked at near me here in Texas. Last I checked we weren't considered a nanny state, LOL.

If I recall correctly, someone torched the cable and used one of those store bought lead test kits and got a positive result. Was it a false positive? I have no clue, like I said, I moved in a different direction with my atty choice about this time and didn't follow the discussion afterwards.

It may be perfectly fine to have this as a wick, setting in your e-liquid, it may not leach lead, but my thinking is if they warn you about lead on something the manufacturer only intends for you to handle and come it skin contact with, is it safe to vape off of? I didn't want to gamble on that.

Anyway, thetrucker, do what you think is best for you.

@Underwhelmed--------------------------------------It never hurts to find out what some of this stuff will do-----If I got lead poision from the cable it would not be worth

it. Never hurts to be safe. I don't know the properties of this cable it just came from a hardware store-----not sure if it has lead or not.

It wouldnot hurt to use cotton instead.

Don't relly feel good with the cable soaking in the juice.

Thanks for your input---------great place for information this ecf.
