Has anyone found that the ended up quitting smoking and vaping fast after switching to vaping?

I JUST bought my first e-cig setup like 2 weeks ago. I bought a bunch of stuff and now I am finding that maybe I made a mistake. I enjoy vaping, I really like the flavors. BUT its not replacing smoking for me, I am still having 1 or 2 analogs a day, but cutting that down. The thing is that I am only using my e-cig maybe 2-3 times a day. I anticipate being done with ALL of it within a month. But then I will have the problem of 130.00 spent and a pile of unused vaping supplies that my husband will surely harass me about. I am not unhappy with my experience as it IS leading to quitting. I am just kinda bummed I spent so much for something I will only end up using for like 4-6 weeks.

So I am just curious, did the switch from analogs to e-cigs result is speedy quitting alltogether for anyone else?

Well not for me it hasn't been very long but I don't really plan on quitting anyway for me it was just an alternative.

congrats though. I would count it as money well spent and I'm sure your husband will too. As for your supplies you can always hold on to them in case of relapse or if you really want the cash back sell them on this site in the classified adds thread. Heck depending on what you have I might even trade you a nice fender guitar for them.

I'm sure you're not the only one who was able to quit analogs then dropped vaping shortly thereafter. However, those people (having moved on) might not be posting here anymore. However it works for you if it gets you off analogs is a good thing! As Elapid mentioned you can recoup some of that money by selling your gear. If you got half of it back then you spent $65.00 to quit smoking..not a bad deal at all.

dragonclaws,
One of the problem I increasing see here is that there is too much pressure put on oneself to give up ciggs instantly. That is unrealistic for any smoker. I am very happy that some vapers find theis transition easy, but I do not believe that is the norm and I think that only leads to some giving up.
You should go at your own pace. If you want to cut down then congratulate yourself on your progress. A pv is NOT the same as smoking .
I do think all here have good intentions about their experiences but this is a journey for everyone that is individual. Do not let some of these stories about "I smoked 10 packs a day for 50 yrs and never touched another cig again" make you think that you failed this. it is not a contest but a way to wean yourself off one habit and on to another which does have advantages over cigs.
I hope you take this one day at a time and do it at your own pace.
There are good folks here to support you. I know it is frustrating. I still allow myself a 2 or 3 cigs a week and regardless of what anyone else says, They taste great, but I have saved money in the long run and feel better health wise.
Give it another try and good luck.

That is not a "PROBLEM", it is a "VICTORY".

Ever priced "The Gum", "The Patch", etc? Besides, your "pile" can save another persons' life, when those other methods are just so much trash in some landfill.

That was very well said. It's very individual and all at their own pace, no pressure.

Thanks for the support everyone. I didn't know there was a classifieds section here, so i will check that out for sure if/when its time to step back.

As for tradings for a fender guitar...well I would get even less use from that, lol. My entire family is musically challenged! I LOVE music, but I can't make music...or sing... unless the plan is to clear a room fast.

I think maybe one reason I might be vaping less than I smoked is that i don't like how it makes my mouth/throat feel. I'm not sure. I just don't crave the e-cig like I did/sometimes do the analogs which tells me maybe my real addiction is less nicotine and more chemical which is pretty scary!

I haven't completely quit vaping, but only vape when I am having a few beers and/or around my friends that smoke - about once a month. I don't smoke analogs at all. I didn't even plan for vaping to replace smoking. I bought bought my first e-cig on a whim, more out of curiosity and because I am a gadget nut. I almost immediately dropped analogs altogether. Not wanting to risk going back to analogs and finding myself vaping MORE than I would have smoked, I stocked up on atomizers, batteries and liquid. Then, unexpectedly, I slowly stopped vaping (without any conscious effort). I still find it surprising but two factors probably contributed: 1) My analog habit was only about 5-8 a day. 2) Quitting analogs led to running almost daily and generally a more healthy lifestyle. That doesn't explain it entirely though, since i have quit before (for about 8 months) when training for a marathon and the cravings never went a way. Now, I have no cravings.

As for what I am going to do with all of the e-cig supplies? Pass them on to my wife & friends in hopes that they can quit analogs.

I think that Big Tobacco puts some chemicals in their tobacco that might add to the addiction. I am pretty sure they add ammonia to aid in the uptake of the nicotine, it speeds the nicotine getting in the bloodstream. I have heard many here state that they end up not craving the vape like they did the smoke. I agree that to each their own on how quickly they end up putting down cigarettes, but I believe most eventually do end up vaping only. It's not a race, just by the face you end up not smoking makes you a winner.

Personally since I started (week ago) I have had 1 drag off a analog. Funny thing is, I had the pack and lighter in my coat pocket the whole week and I hardly notice. Vaping has taken over my analog addiction 100%. I could not stand that one drag off an analog, it was nasty and compared to the menthol I have and especially Atomic Fire Ball... my flavors out weigh the enjoyment I ever had with analogs.
