Has anyone *stayed* with the 510?

I am just getting the hang of my 510. I am getting a lot of encouragement to upgrade to an eGo or Tornado.
Here's the deal. My partner also smokes analogs and he will be joining me ont his journey. First I considered buying the eGo and giving him the 510. But I am not employed right now and money is crucial.
It seems to make more sense to me to buy another 510 set and share components rather than start with a whole new brand.
But, I am also told the eGo can use 510 components. Does it?
I'm really confused. I want to bring him on board but I also want to do it as economically as I can purely for practical reasons.
So does everyone automatically upgrade? Is staying with the 510 and adding shared components (pass through, PCC) just stupid?

The 510 is simple and effective. Yes I have stayed with my 510 for months now. The eGo has caught me eye but the cost factor quickly makes me turn away. My 510 does what it needs to do. Sure battery life could be better but I have enough batteries so that I am never without. Right now I pay $7 for a battery, eGo batteries cost $20 from what I can see. Did I tell you Im 'cheap' too? Least thats what the kids say.

A lot of people stick with the 510, it's a great atomizer. A lot also upgrade to a bigger battery mod that uses 510 atomizers, because the regular 510 batteries are notoriously short-lived. It's not stupid to share parts, and if the regular 510 batteries work well enough for both of you, it's probably more economical and convenient to do so.

Also, if money is tight, and you or your partner is handy with a soldering iron, you can build a NicoStick pretty cheap.

If your out about a lot I would go with the eGo battery because with the regular 510 batteries your gonna have to have a few charged or have some were to charge them. With the eGo battery you get a much better battery life. I use 1 battery all day long, from around 7am up until midnight lots of times. This is just my opinion and I love mine and I love the 510!

the 510 atomizer is my main vape, on different battery devices. all other atomizers are only sidekicks for me ;)

the normal and mega batteries are replaced by the Go batteries, i am just to heavy vaping for the little ones. i used them a long time for stealth and public paping, but they are not needed anymore.

This is an excellent question! So many people move on from a 510 style to something bigger, longer lasting, or whatever, and there are certainly reasons to do so. There is however, and I know I experience this myself, a tendency to look at the wide variety of PVs out there and wonder, could I be using something better?
If you don't mind watching someone talk for 20 minutes, this is a vrr good video discussing such things. I know it doesn't directly answer the original question, but perhaps such questions that it does are also relevant eh.

If you like the 510, need a 2nd PV, and have the pocket change, the eGo would be a great choice IMO, since the parts are interchangeable. But, the eGo battery needs an adapter to use the standard 510 charger and I don't think the adapter is sold separately. If that's true, you'd have to get the TorneGo kit and not just a battery. I have a couple 510's (as you can see in my signature), but they weren't my first PVs, and never have been my favorites. I do like the TorneGo better though.

TW sells the adapter as a separate item....

The thing that makes the 510 so popular is the atty. It is probably the best atty for a 3-piece design available. The regular batts are pretty short-lived though, mainly because the 510 atty draws so much power from the batt. I've used only 510 PVs since Sept, and don't see a huge reason to try another atty system. However, the batt needs help. Fixes, at least to last you a while while figuring out finances for something more expensive:

A passthrough. Virtually endless vaping while on a USB. The batt is charged on the USB, and the batt powers the atty. Can vape for a few hours offline. Batt is a cr10440, 380 mAh (regardless of what they are labeled)

Mega batts: a bit less than 2x the capacity of a reg batt. TW sells them, so do a few other vendors. Batts are 280 mAh.

A "straight-wire" PT, with no batt box. Needs to be plugged in, but puts 5V on the atty coil.

A "box-mod", like the nicostick mentioned. There is someone that sells them for $27 here. Uses a 14500 batt (900 mAh).

I'm with doublewhiskey: I got a Bartleby. Its very well built 14500 box-mod that also charges, and quickly, off a USB. The 510 atty was likely designed to operate at 3.7V on the heating coil, which the 14500 gives, due to its higher capacity. The reg batts put only about 3.1V on the coil, which can still be quite good, but I've found attys last and stay healthier longer at 3.7V. Better TH, better vapor and flavor, and they don't get clogged as often. As doublewhiskey said, best $50 I've spent in a long time.

One of the reasons I ended up going with a 510 kits initially is that it was clear the atty was built for the future, that is, most batt mods use it.

Another thing is the cart. Generally it does need help as the standard fluval filling is pretty greedy about giving up all its juice. I use the ZFM mod, which is a plug-reservoir mod. Carts empty themselves now completely, with about 60 hits between refills.

I still am happy with my 510's. Tired of the poor battery life so I have some chucks on order but will continue to use my 510 atty's. It seems to be very versatile.

Kurt makes a good point about cartridge fillers. At one point I too kept thinking is there something better in regards to pvs but then tried the screen mods and haven't looked back. I now detest filler of any sort and there is no having to constantly top off with this mod.
I am going to give the scottys ZFM's a try too. Filling up your cart with juice with no filler is the way to go! I haven't looked back since discovering this.

I've been using the 510's since I started vaping in October. I added additional 510 batts/attys in different colors as I went along and now have several going with different flavors.
Since I have 2 of each color now, I change batts as they need it. Still on the same attys as they just keeping going.

I won a DSE 905 from MadVapes Contest and it is really nice but I still use my 510's 90% of the time as they are so compact and great vapers.

I bought a cool blue 901 from GoodProphets on a whim and it is my "dressy" in a fancy case, will last for hours vape that I can take to clubs etc.

It is my opinion that the $$$ could be better spent on getting the best juice so you definately enjoy vaping for a long, long time. Even when you become a zillionaire.
