Have a few questions, a bit confused

Hey everyone, i've been lingering on the forums for awhile and finally got myself to register to post cuz i ran into somewhat of a problem. I've only been vaping for about 1-2 months. I have a SVD running at 7.5 watts - 10 watts on Kanger protank 2.2 ohm head with 1 flavor wick removed with Cigtechs Honey Dewey 50/50 6mg blend (which is amazing =).

Today i received the Protank 2 from altsmoke and i was soooooo excited to test it out. I through in the same e juice in the protank 2 which is running a 2.5 ohm head. I couldn't get it past 6 watts without the taste of burning juice. I tried removing a flavor wick which ended in utter failure with massive flooding and gurgling. I just can't wrap my head around this problem i'm having unless i'm just not doing something correctly. Help anyone? xD

I had something similar happen to me a ways back. I got used to vaping on my protank, did a cleaning of it, put a fresh atomizer in it filled it, twisted it on, hit the power button.... yuck... something not right... Thought hmm maybe just break in... Long story short no matter what I did it just tasted horribly burnt, and I had no clue what happened.

But then after some reading I came across some people who mentioned they had similar experience and it was that the wick got burnt by any number of issues... anything from it wasnt wet enough when you used it, or perhaps you had your settings to high, whatever it was the coil being burnt seems to be a wash, time to put in a new coil.

What I do now, and what seems to work (havent had that burnt taste again on anything) is to always start with lowest settings when I recoil or put in a new atomizer. I start low and go up notch by notch until I get to my sweet spot. Also I have found that some products vary from time to time in all sorts of ways, so always starting out at the lowest and going up seems to work out best for myself.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have 3 Protanks, all with 2.5Ω heads, and no matter what juice is in them (although mine tend to be similar) they start burning ≈ 6w. I have no clue why. I got my first one in March and was quite perplexed that I couldn't go higher, but finally I just shrugged and turned it down.

i was having a problem very similar with my protank 2 and SVD as well. I had a 1.8ohm coil at first and couldnt get past 3.6 volts but once i had a 2.5 coil in i could only go up to 4.5 but anything more than that and im getting a burnt taste. I hav no clue what to do. Im in need of help too

Forgive me for going to basics. It appears you have been vaping ahwile so you may already know this. A couple of things come to mind. On the first refill make sure you give the wick a couple of minutes to prime itself. Otherwise the wick will be dry, and you will burn the wick. Once you burn it, that burnt flavor may not go away. Another thing, on my vamo, 10w on a fresh battery is about 4w too high, but as the battery drops in voltage I have to increase watts to compinsate. Also, especially on a new delivery device (tank, etc.), start on a low setting and work your way up untill you find that sweet spot. The two protanks you have are interchangable in parts. At this point I would try switching out the head and trying again. Good luck, and let us know your results. If you are still having problems I am sure we can help.

Normally poor wicking will cause burnt taste.
If removing a wick causes flooding other avenues must be explored.
A drop or two of distilled water mixed in can help. High VG does not wick as well as a more balanced blend. Water helps with wicking.

Burnt tasting wick can be rinsed clean and after removing Flavor wicks, dry burned to remove charred e-liquid.

Once a solution is found ProTank can be run at higher settings. With a 50/50 blend I have run 7.5w, but found I prefer 7w.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I'll definitely try every solution that was given on this post and bring back the results xD I just want to be able to enjoy the protank 2 Also now that i think about it i might have been a little to excited on waiting for the e juice to fully saturate the wicks before i fired the button. hmmmm we'll see how the experiments go tmrw =) Thanks again guys!

I had a similar issue but figured out that for some reason it stopped wicking properly and burnt the wick which I didn't think was possible. Assuming they used some low grade silica I rewicked and haven't had an issue since.

Well after tingering with everything i bought a protank head from local shop and on the new head i removed about 1/2 the flavor wick and still had 1 flavor wick + another half flavor wick and that solved all my problems. No flooding or gurggling and with amazing vapor, also no dry hits whatsoever.

The wicking was perfectly enough for me to chain vape. really really minor leakage to through the atty for the protank 1 and 2 and when i mean a minor i mean tiny droplets on the top battery. Hope this information helps anyone!

On the protanks, t3, and t3s that I have tried, I find that it helps if you prime it by dry sucking on it gently before firing. I do this whenever I find that the vapes are losing flavour or throat hit. But DO NOT suck too hard, or you will have flooding issues.

Alternatively, I would drag real hard on the first drag to get the wicks really wicking and kicking, and then take gentler drags.

Spot on danny that's what i always try to do, a nice small puff or a few more if you want to. Then bam your wicks are ready to go =)
