Hi folks
I'm new here and I haven't tried e-cigs yet but am seriously thinking about it.

Seeing as it is a bit of an investment to start out with I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about the SS Choice No. 7 Disposable e-cig. I thought it might be a good way to get my feet wet and try it out first. Also I heard about the FDA ban in the states and was wondering if they were still shipping to the US until this is cleared up.

Also just curious about this do you still inhale just like your smoking a real cig?
I've quit smoking before but have always seemed to go back to it more so because I like the process of smoking per say. Holding the cig, blowing the smoke, etc.
Is vaping similar in that respect?

Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

FL.Eagle has asked the same exact questions I was going to ask
I also would like switch to ecigs but its all so confusing all I know is I smoke a 1/2 to a whole pack of cigerettes a day, so what would I need to buy per month to get me thru.. or can it not be answered that way?
If I started on ecigs my fear would be that I didnt buy enough when I got started per month and had to go back to regular cigerettes and I wouldnt want to do that
Jim I,m not sure what a pm is?? but could you send me one too?

celynt;

A PM is a private message. Sort of like an e-mail only just on this forum. I sent him a PM because of his location. He is only minutes from a local supplier. We don't post supplier information except in the supplier related groups to avoid spamming.

As far as your questions go I'll give you my personal opinion. Take other peoples opinions into account too, and decide what is right for you.

There are the mini's to start. The mini's are close to cigarette size. The 510 is the latest rage right now. It's a good e-cig that will give you a good throat hit and vapor. It has a manual battery. (Push the button to activate) This gives you more control.

The RN4081 (NJOY NPRO) - M401 - DSE103 are other super minis. Most of these come with auto batteries. They turn on when you suck on them. (Vacuum switch inside.)

There are the pen styles, I don't know all the numbers. Batteries slightly bigger, and cartridges bigger.

Here's a list of most of the models;

E-Cigarette Models

Auto batteries can flood with juice, and get fouled out.
Manual batteries have a slightly shorter life because you tend to hold the button longer.

Juice is a must. I suggest ordering a sample pack of different flavors with the e-cig. You refill your cartridges with the juice. A factory filled cart never lasts as long as they say.

Atomizers are unpredictable and you should have a few spares.

If you're going to use the e-cig heavily, there are heavy duty mods available. Higher voltage, heavier hitting.

That's just a short explanation. I suggest you view some of the tutorial videos;

Any other questions? Ask. More people will jump in with their opinions. Read & research, and decide what's the best for your needs.
Cheers;

Hi FL-Eagle and Celynt,

I would guess with e-cigs, like most things, everyone is a little bit different. I am by no means an expert but I am happy to share my experience.

I knew I had to quit smoking so I went to a local drugstore to by the patch or gum. When I asked the manager what she recommended she told me that neither one really worked. She said she came to this conclusion from her own experience and from the number of people she sold those items to that later came back and bought analogs (regular cigarettes). She told me to go to the mall and get an e-cigarette. I had never even heard of e-cigs before. She mentioned a certain brand but then said any brand at the mall would do. So I went to the mall. Sure enough the woman at the information table in the mall knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned an electronic cigarette and pointed me to the kiosk.

The brand in my mall is QuantumCig. I haven't read too much about them on this forum...but I am new here. I LOVE my e-cig! I bought the Quantum Cig Pen. I told the guy I was going on vacation for 2 weeks and needed at least enough "equipment" to get me through that time period. I ended up buying the Quantum Pen set ($145) plus two bottles of the liquid nicotine ($25 each). He told me that should get me through 3 months (basing that on the fact that I smoked a pack and a half a day).

I am 29 days in and have not had a single cigarette and have barley put a dent in my "juice". I truly am amazed at how well it is going. It doesn't totally satisfy me the way an analog cig would (I smoked 30 cigs per day for 16 years) but it is close and for me it is a whole lot better than going cold turkey. I would think the supply I bought will last me at least 4 months and then, if I still need it, I would think I could get by on half a bottle of juice or less per month. So as far as cost goes...it sure is a whole lot cheaper than smoking.

Best of luck to you both whatever you decide!

Where are you located? Please update your profile and add your location. You may have neighbors near by.

I'm not familiar with the Quantum. However, if you ask a few questions around the forum, someone should be able to identify it, and you may be able to find inexpensive parts & supplies for it.

Cheers;

Don't buy anything at a mall unless you want to pay at least double or triple what you could really pay for it, or something even better. As far as disposable cigarettes go, I don't know that I have ever seen anyone really recommend them. But I guess it is a good way to try them and at least get the idea of what they are about. Then maybe you can get a better and cheaper one later that isn't disposable.

How much are you going to pay for these disposables?

Thanks JD - it looks like they might be local to this area (Atlanta, GA) as their "headquarters" has a local area code. So far I have found it to be a great product.

I could very well be a great product, and it's great that you're happy with it, but if we can figure out what it is, you may be able to buy parts much cheaper than going to the place where you bought it from.

That would be great! After reading a bunch of threads here I feel like I need to start stocking up. I'll look at my owners manual tonight to see if I can find any more details on the actual product line.

Is this the one? If so, it looks like an 801. I'd like a few other opinions on it, but if it's an 801, you can get batteries & passthroughs for $9.00, and atomizers for $5.50ea.

The whole starter kit is $28.00.

If you can put it together and measure it in millimeters you can confirm what it is.
Or at least what it is not, by going to this website: E-Cigarette Models

Determining whether it is a recessed or an exposed atomizer will also help.

And posting pictures might help if there is still confusion after the above actions.

Wow, you all are quick. That's the one Jim...only mine is the pretty burgundy.

$25 for the whole starter set??!! Is that for the 801 and if so how do I get that deal...online I presume? I would like to get one for a friend and for a co-worker. I had no idea they would be that inexpensive.

This place is great for information! I don't regret my purchase because it has kept me off the analogs for 29 days but it's great to have all this information now as I go forward and won't have to spend nearly as much money.

Thanks so much to the both of you! Do you mind if I ask what you use?

It's a really, really long story...

I started with the NPro (RN4081) and had issues with the automatic battery.
I switched to a 510 and now am dealing with wicking issues.

I have since found that the RN4081 is GREAT for dripping.
And I have since found that 306 parts are compatible with 510 parts.

I have also found various ways to solve my wicking issues.
So basically, this stuff is not easy, and it takes time.

And I can not answer general questions, but will be happy to try and answer specific ones.
:)

Wow Deadcat that's a lot of info, you aren't kidding with it "not being easy". All of this is new to me. I am still trying to figure out what some of the lingo means.

I really like what I have and it is working but in the event that it breaks I know I need a backup. Plus now I want to try all of these flavors. I have only used the one juice since I bought mine...all I know is it is called "Regular High" and I just drip it onto the the thing that looks like a filter. I guess that's the cartridge.

I looked at the link you posted with all the models and I feel like I should order an 801 asap. Can I ask if there is a specific website you use to place an order like that?

From Quantumcigs site:
"This kit comes fully complete for a new user in a presentation box which consists of:
• One Black Atomizer
• Two Special Batteries with Motorola Microprocessors in Black color
• One Battery Charger with US plug adapter
• Five Cartridges of Mixed Nicotine levels
• One User Manual"

The picture for the mini's look like a DSE901. You could look at where the atty screws into the battery & see if theres any numbers. A true dse901 should have numbers on both the atomizor & battery (they're REALLY small) but theres MANY knockoffs that don't...And they work just as well IMO.
You could even email Quantumcig & ask if it's a 901 model. They may or may not tell you, in order to sell you their hardware. <shrug>
If you're lucky it'll be a 901 or clone. Atomizors & batteries can be bought cheap from almost any supplier on the forums.

Rob

Hi Rob - that's it. I looked for numbers but I couldn't find any on the atty or the battery. But it now that I have looked at pics it seems like it is very close to the 901. It looks like I can order the 901 online for about $54. Does that seem right to you. That's a great price considering what I paid at the mall. I really think I am going to order 4 of them (a spare for me and three for my friends).

Jack - the link you provided is that the site you actually ordered the 901 from? If so I think I will use them too.

Thanks again to you all - what a wealth of information!
