I feel like Ive been quite unlucky with some of my most recently purchased Box Mods. Im not one to always buy alot and have a small collection, 4 box mods and a collection of tanks and drippers.

2 of my mods have lasted for almost 2 years, both Eleaf isticks
And my other two mods: a Joytech eVic and a Tesla Steampunk have both seemed to die. The most recent being my Tesla which I loved and I think died yesterday after only about 6-8 months of purchase. Same with the Joytech. They wont turn on. wont charge. no button combo or clicking will do anything. Basically very expensive paper weights.

Im looking for advice about buying a new Box mod and am thinking of switching to ones with seperate batteries (like 18650's) instead of a mod with internal batteries that you dont remove. All of my mods have had internal batteries and Im not sure if Im having bad luck with the longevity of internal non removable batts. It sucks to spend 40-70$ or more on a battery you're thinking will last at least 2 years worth of charges and have it not work after 6 months.

I need something around 100 watts without a hefty price tag. Id like to get 2 new box mods for under 100$ trying to get the best bang for my buck. Any suggestions would be more than welcome

Based on your terrible luck, you might want to reconsider your price range and get a SINGLE reliable, durable mod in the $200 price range.

Provari's are legendary as to their reliability and durability. In the rare occurance should one stop working, you can return them to Provape for repair. One year warranty, after warranty repair costs are very reasonable.
The Provari Radius is a regulated box mod made in the USA that takes a single 18650 battery; the included Samsung 25R can be charged internally by USB or in a box charger. Doesn't have the 100 watts you were looking for; but ask yourself do you REALLY need 100 watts?

My first Provari is 5 years old and still working like new. Dropped on the driveway several times, not a problem.

Why Provari?

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I only buy mods that have YiHi or DNA chipsets and i did just buy my first Provari but not the Radius because of cost .

Thats what you buy when you want something that outlasts your vaping career. I don't like much new stuff at all , i buy older mods with great chipsets that have been proven workhorses .

A lot of people love the Sigelei 100 or 150 watt models and they last forever . Other mods that seem to last forever are the all aluminum P4U iPV III models for example which i know a place that has them for $29.99 right now which is outright theft because of how good they are .

To this day many retailers sell the iPV III for well over $100.00.

Look into the Hohmwrecker G2. It's not much to look at(mainly because of the engravings IMO), but it's almost bullet proof and has a great chip. Hohmtech is an American company with stellar customer service, so in the event that you do have issues they'll take care of you. I got a manufacturer refurbished one for around $60 with a coupon code, and found out after the fact the brand new ones can be had for around $75 with a code.

I prefer the DNA chips, never tried a high end Yihi device, but if I personally had under $100 to spend on a dual 18650 mod I'd get a G2 for sure.

The Sigelei Fuchai 213 only costs around $65. It is a typical Sigelei-quality build that could double as a self defense weapon and still not show a scratch. It also comes with a silicone sleeve to keep it in good condition. I <3 <3 <3 mine!

Non-functioning tcr and crappy tc, not to mention that Sigelei have behaved like scum towards reviewers. Far better mods for the price out there, not to mention that a company that behaves as Sigelei shouldn't be supported.

The way I look at it, a typical VV/TC mod costs somewhere between $40 and $65. If it lasts 2 years, that's $1.60 to $2.70 a month when amortized. When the battery dies, can it and buy another.

I bought an iStick Pico this week. It has a replaceable battery and I really like that feature.

My Provari V2 (vv only) still looks and works like a champ. I still use it here and there, but I like the wattage feature of my other, newer mods. You can't beat the Provari tube design for pocket carry.

KenD, with all due respect, you are knocking it in a thread where the #1 recommendation is Kanger's boxes. I find it highly odd that you would pass up on all these recommendations of Kanger's boxes but pounce on a Segelei recommendation... ? I've never gotten a Kanger box to make it past 6 months since the original Subox, but I have yet to own a Segelei in the four years that I've been vaping that ever quit functioning before I gave up on stashing it. Even right now, I currently have a 3 year old model in my parts bin that still works, lol. My devices tend to take a beating too; not because I'm careless but because I'm clumsy, haha. As for them acting like scum towards reviewers... honestly, that's really not news at all in this day and age. I interview corporations all the time as part of my work as a technology news writer. Most of the time they have PR reps that make sure they leave a squeaky clean impression, but sometimes when they don't have a PR rep it can get pretty nasty.

I wish you had said your range of power. I, also, have Provari; a few. Some yell about the price until they have one for a while.

With the Provari in mind, the P2.5 is a single 18650 with max power of 15 watts. That said, it is an old model and does not come with Temp Control. Originally, several years ago, it went for above $100. If you go to the specials page at Provari you will see them for sale way, way lower. It is like buying a brand new 2001 Mercedes...today for $3k.

But, those last few are going for ~$35.00. Specials of the week

If you are under 15 watts, can't beat it.

thank you all for the comments. it has been a few weeks since i last logged on and well over a month or 2 since i ordered some new products that started this thread/discussion.

my newer purchases included:
istick pico: i am so so happy i ended up buying this. probably my favorite box mod ever in terms of look, feel, production, battery life, etc.

Kooper Plus 200w: pretty good for around the house. it is huge and not very transportable. but works great with more features than ill ever use

COV Mini Volt: looks cool and is suppper small. but honestly barely use it. not enough power or batt life

an assortment of tanks and drippers: topping the list is the Velocity

and my new favorite super cheap pretty damn good juice company. home of the free 100ml. VERDE VALLEY VAPES
