Hey all,

I just rebuilt my RSST with 304 3/32" 7x7 ss rope, with a wrap of #400 ss mesh beneath my 4/5 wrap of. 28 Guage Kanthol. It meters out to 1.3-1.4 Ohms.

I'm running at 4.2 volts on my Provari 2.5 and I'm absolutely loving it. Very simple to make and will be even easier to clean.

The ONLY new aspect that I learned is that it has a hard time wicking below 1/5 of a tank. Some juice makes it up, but most of the coils will show random glowing spots - so I know it's not being fed properly.

Thanks,

Matt!

The only time mine has any trouble wicking at all is when there is just enough liquid in it to just cover the base of the tank. I like to pretty much vape mine dry all the time so I find that a little tilt is necessary to help the liquid up the wick to the coil. I do this also to dry burn the wick and coil to clean them between fillings too. I also switched over to 500 SS as well and found it to wick better. Most of my liquids are 70/30, but also vape 50/50 and 90/10's as well. Glad to hear you are liking the SS rope. I knew you would...

AWJ,

Call around to local metal supply houses, etc. For example, I got mine from "Commercial Wire & Rope" Supply."

The real trick is to call a local mom and pop hardware store will not have what you want, but ask them where you will find it and they will refer you to a local place. I found mine for $0.25 per foot.

Hope this helps,

Matt!

Where did you get your ss rope? I've been wanting to try an ss rope build...

Finding non galvanized at your local store is almost impossible

This is where I got mine... Wire Rope Wick 7x19 3/32 37mm 3 pack - Kidney Puncher $3.95 I purchased this because I know it is safe for us to use and it is the correct diameter and already cut to length for the RSST... I used to sell industrial tools for a living and dealt with McMaster-Carr on a daily basis. They are a great place to do business with, but the rope they sell, galvanized and SS, are treated heavily in oil from the manufacturer's to prevent and rusting during shipping and prolonged shelf life. It's very hard to get all the oils out of it fully, not to mention the cord in the middle of the braids. The SS rope from KP is already processed and de-corded for our use and all you have to do to it is oxidize it, coil it, and vape it... I bought 3 wicks about 3-4 months ago and still haven't used 2 of them...
