Oh dear I just read through the article from them... check this out..

"The study, the first study of e-cigarettes to be conducted by U.S. doctors, found that almost no nicotine was actually delivered by the devices and instead users were actually inhaling a nicotine-devoid toxic vapor of compounds like diethylene glycol or nitrosamines, a family of cancer-causing nitrogen compounds."

Anyone on here who is experienced enough to know what I'm about to say..I wont even bother saying it!

For the first week I alternated between smoking and vaping. When my analogs ran out, I felt no compulsion to buy more. After about a week smoke free, I started feeling like I was missing a special "something" from cigarettes. I pretty much vaped through it, but on a Friday night, my batts ran out, and I had no time to go home to charge, so I bought a pack of smokes. To me they tasted very bitter and chemically. I've made myself remember in detail how unpleasant that cigarette was. I still had some withdraw symptons (craving, insomnia, irregularity, headaches) but vaping kept me from going crazy. Now, I am totally digging it.

Don't beat yourself up. Each of use has to figure out what works for us to break old habits and form new ones. And there is more than just a nicotine in cigarettes that our bodies become dependent on. also 5 cigs a day is way better that 20 or more a day. GL.

I'll say it for you: FLAWED!

...as explained in this pamphlet from casaa:

Thank you Rosa :) - as ever you managed to accurately, concisely and politely say what everyone was burning to say in other words ;)

Ps I was going to comment on their article, then I looked down and read the comments that everyone else is putting..lol some peeps are funny! I do NOT want to advocate giving their pathetic nonsense any more internet traffic than it deserves...but it is kinda worth a look :)

Don't beat yourself up when you fail - accept that nicotine (and the cig habit) is/was an addiction.

Don't let yourself feel bad because you see others here who have been more successful - everyone is different...be happy for them (I'm THRILLED anytime I read someone has managed to finally kick the 'cig' habit for weeks/months/years) and use them for motivation for yourself.

Most of all, have FUN with this stuff ;-)

Drinking a lot of water and exercising will really help the detox process as well. If it's really bad, do a google search for Isagenix. They have a 9 day body cleanse program to detox the body. I used that to quit smoking cold turkey back in 2005. On the program I went from 2PAD to 1 cig/day for the first 4 days and after that, didn't have any urge to smoke at all. It's not designed to stop smoking, but it just knocked the cravings right out of me. I went 2 years without smoking until a stressful job, bad breakup and a night out to blow off steam had me bumming a smoke. I was back to buying by the carton within 2 weeks. (yeah I know...DUMB)

Thankfully I found e-cigs. I tried the body detox to quit again this time, but I was under so much stress that I couldn't function without smoking so it didn't work the 2nd time around. However, it might help you get through the withdrawals now and get you to just vaping.

I have a bad habit (beyond the obvious) of thinking I have to be perfect and this is a process that takes trial and (gulp) error. Thanks for reminding me of that.

I can't find anything in this pdf that says that e-cigs are actually any use for delivering nicotine to the body. I have tried researching this all over the place and can't find any studies that confirm that e-cigs DO deliver nicotine. If anyone can point me to evidence that e-cigs do work as a nicotine delivery system I would greatly appreciate it.

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not knocking e-cigs at all. I think they're fantastic. E-cigs have overnight almost completely got me off of analogs. I did experience a strange bout of depression/malaise after 3-4 days off analogs but that only lasted a couple of days.

As I said in my orig post, for me I think I liked the smoke more than the nicotine. It has been proven beyond doubt that the placebo effect is very powerful, so whether e-cigs deliver nicotine or not, for many people they may still be a great way to kick analogs. They certainly worked for me.

However everyone is different and what addicted me to fags (I'm English) may be very different from what makes someone else addicted.

Anyhow best of luck to all those people trying to quit. For me it's been about 3 weeks and I am now really starting to feel better. It really is worth switching to e-cigs (or anything else that helps you quit)

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. That would send anyone over the edge and I sure need a reality check for myself. Nothing like that going on for me so I need to take a big-girl pill and just enjoy this journey. Bless you my friend.

Lots of great advice here. More power to you mspuff!!! Agreed, higher nic content and permitting yourself to have a cig when needed, but always with a mind towards the goal. Quitting cigs can be a lot like using any pain relievers...much better to pop a Tylenol at the onset of a headache as opposed to suffering with it for a couple of hours.

The mental part is huge. I actually am an accidental quitter, in that I started vaping based on cost (hahaha, brilliant) and logistics. Pretty soon I realized I was mostly having a cig because that what I'd normally do, NOT because I really needed one.

keep at it, you'll be fine
