If I have been off analogs six months (for instance) and have vaped down to low numbers (sub 5?) could I change my status with our health provider to non- smoker? Yes, my count is too low for the correct forum category! Any opinion is appreciated!
I have never had that question asked for health insurance, only life insurance. Certainly in the doctor's office they usually ask those kinds of questions, which I never minded answering.
Some insurance companies actually do a blood test for nicotine (cotinine). That's usually with life insurance and when you are over a certain age. They will also request a copy of your doctor's patient record and that may show what you told the doctor you smoked. I said 1 PAD. The doctor's records reflected 2 PAD, which was no longer accurate. Make sure you change what you last told the doctor if it is different.
As long as you are vaping nicotine, it will show up in the tobacco test for life insurance. And then you do not qualify for the non-tobacco rate. You could go to non nicotine juice for a week before the test.
Zero percent for a year would be a legit argument or at least a starting point...then submit non-smoking status to family doctor...seems doable! Thanks for the responses, all!
Lol I've just been lying to my doctor. Haven't had to get life insurance myself though, I agree with the people saying vape no nic from a week then take their little test. If they find traces of nic, tell them you're on a strict eggplant diet. Hah eggplants contain small amounts of nic, so they may just be gullible enough to believe it.
