So the samples had pretty much remained the same? I had a Gandalf sample that shipped 9/6 - is this the real Gandalf, and the other bottles that weren't samples that shipped 9/14 and 9/24 would have been Serendipity? That explains a lot, I thought my taste buds totally changed on me lol

Hmm, so it looks like I have one nearly-finished bottle of Gandalf, a second unopened bottle of Gandalf (same July order), and one bottle of Serendipity (ordered 9/19, labeled Gandalf)! WOW, this is good to find out, before I open that bottle of Serendipity and think I've lost my marbles!

Gandalf is Gandalf is Gandalf... But...

As I'm sure everyone is aware that Gandalf is our most popular extract. We run through 10 times the amount of Gandalf extract as we do any other. The batch before last went a bit longer in the extraction process, not much, but apparently enough to introduce a coffee, black tea, choco note into it. We have been on a new batch of extract for about the past week and it's a normal batch of Gandalf. As fate would have it, customers over the past month or so have really enjoyed the flavor of this slightly longer extraction of Gandalf. To that end, we are going to continue to offer the longer extraction time Gandalf as a separate flavor on our site.

If you are old school Gandalf and do not remember any black tea, coffee, choco taste, just straight up pipe tobacco, you're looking for Gandalf.

If you have had Gandalf in the past month or so and it has had a deeper, black tea, coffee, choco note with your pipe tobacco, your looking for Serendipity. (Thanks for the great name Bronze!!!)

I will get Serendipity added to the site here in the next 30 minutes or so. Our goal was not to confuse anyone, but a small mistake in extraction time has resulted in a wonderful flavor that has taken on it's own persona and it deserves to live on and have a new name.

FYI, all sample packs ordered with Gandalf will be Gandalf the original, not Serendipity. I may add Serendipity to the sample pack at some point, however, I've got to get Shadowfax added first.

This is most likely going to be the Serendipity extraction... That date was right on the cusp of the last batch of Gandalf extraction...

BTW, we didn't realize it until this morning, but mail will not be running today due to the holiday. Yes, today is Columbus Day. We are still going to be hitting it long and hard today and tonight, but orders processed today will ship tomorrow...

It isn't really chocolate, like Oompa or Tuscan Cocoa, just something dark that people have described different ways. Like Adam said, chocolate, coffee, black tea. It's quite different from traditional Gandalf, you have to try some. I like it a lot.

Both flavors are quality and they're both in the same flavor range (though still different). Had they been light years apart then this could have been a much different problem. My guess is, there will be a good deal of crossover of these two flavors by HHV tobacco vapers. Put it another way, if you think you have one but it's really the other you will likely find it vapeable nonetheless. Had my Gandalf tasted like Atomic Grasshopper I mighta had trouble with that one. That would have been too big of a departure.
