is it very strange how you people talk about flavors. Im not into this or perhaps now at this moment. Maybe after I try some flavors I will change my mind. I have ordered a 24mg 20ml menthol as I enjoy menthol a lot, even if I am a Red Marlboro smoker. I use to mix it with menthol tabbaco when im doing my "puff puff pass" :) and its amazing.

Yeah, at first I was the same "Why in the world vape a grape, peach, cola, candy, icecream, cupcake, cup of coffee etc..? I smoked tobacco, not everything else!" Now I have at the moment 74 flavors in my DIY juice mixing supplies and, am always looking for something new to add, a new combination that would be good, and the newest creation form my local vape shop. Caramel, chocolate, popcorn, coffee, those are run of the mill, good but not new to my vaping tastes. Now that vanilla cola that actually has a carbonated mouth feel, slated caramel that really does have a salty note, chocolate mint made form mint I grew, tomato jam vapes, those are interesting.

Give it time, once you get past the "It should look or at least feel like a cigarette", it isn't far to, it doesn't even have to taste remotely like a cigarette and it might be even better if it didn't - hey flavors are fun. :)

I smoked about a pack to a pack and a half a day for almost 30 years. A little less than a year ago I switched to an e-cig and never went back to regular cigs. My husband was very ill and I was in a hospital for hours and hours (no smoking allowed, even in the parking lot) everyday, so that was a main motivator at the time. I started with those ones that look like cigs but quickly went to a Vmod xl b/c I didn't like charging and rotating batteries throughout the day. I still have the last couple of cigs in my last pack just in case, but forgot about them months ago. (Just ran across recently while digging around looking for something else.) Regarding throat hit, I'll leave that to others to answer, but you might want to search reviews and/or "throat hit" since that something that reviewers of ecig brands and cartomizers/atomizers usually discuss.

OH MY GOD!!!

It is unbelievable!!! After a long headache with Royal Mail, I managed to pickup my package. I was waiting this kit more excited than I was when I order my iphone5!!! So, being so excited I open the package and I found out the jacvapour send it WITHOUT the connector, so I can't connect the battery to the tank. HOWEVER, I managed to make an improvisation (yap, don't kill me!!!) and puffed a few times. OH MY GOD!!! The 24mg menthol is stronger than my red marlboro!! Some people said that it can't replace the analog! SAY WHAT???

I have been playing with it for the last 2 hours and didn't feel the need of a analog.

I feel like in heaven! I feel like im driving a ferrari!!! WORDS!

But I am really interested if a heavy smoker managed to totally switch to ecig.

Hey, I totally made the switch to e-cigs and got my old man to do it too, and now we are both off tobacco for good. Doug and I were spending $500 a month on cigarettes at least. I was smoking as much as 3 packs a day, going through 2 cartons a week, every week. The health effects were becoming clear, I was developing PAD, (peripheral arterial disease) and getting ulcerations on my lower legs. I did some checking online and found that one of the causes of this is smoking.

I am far happier vaping than I was smoking and can never go back to tobacco, with it's horrid health effects, ashes, butts, the smell, and all the other nasty things that came with that habit. It may take you some time and money to arrive at the vaping solution that's right for you but I would urge you not to give up, it's out there. Do not let yourself become discouraged.

Say, "They're wrong." :)

Nobody believed I've ever quit smoking. Especially not me. But, here I am. Vaping away. I can no longer imagine going back to smoking. I sometimes get mild urges of a kind like, "Gosh, I sure liked smoking" but they're just kind of vague, stray kind of thoughts once in a while. More like since smoking was such a constant companion for so long, it's almost like a "friend" moved away? Something stupid like that.

But go back? I just can't see it now. I mean, middle of typing this post, I went and switched flavors. Like I could do that with cigs? Smoking just seems so dull and repetitive now...

Today was the second day since I started vaping. I would never believe I could go to sleep without having the last analog just before going to bed. And it happened yesterday and it will happen in a few moments today. Yesterday was my first day after 18 years of heavy smoking when I smoked ONLY 4 cigarettes. Its unbelievable. Today indeed, due to some issues, I smoked 7 analogs. I can't drop them straight away but I am definitely sure in max 2 weeks I will be analogless :)

I've got a 24mg menthol PG and it seems I can keep carrying on with it. However, I am very curios how other flavors taste and I was wondering if someone can advise me what should I try that I can keep going with it, like I do with the menthol (I really want to try black coffee). I know banana, cherries and others like that might be cool to vape but I don't think you can keep going with them more than a few days.

And at the end, I want to thank you everyone who encouraged me and gave me hopes. So far, it is the best achievement of my life and if I will be able to stop smoking for good, then I know I will be able to move the mountains :) I'm sure I wouldnt be able to do it if it wasnt you guys. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Strange feeling going from "gotta have it" to "maybe not now". :)

Don't pressure yourself too much. It was over a month before I stopped completely. But smoked less every week until guess I sort of forgot to bother anymore?

Wanna bet? :D

I have a banana flavor I can vape all day long. Though, right now, found a wintergreen that reminds me of candy my grandma used to always have in her purse.

And I was sure I wanted a tobacco like flavor. Absolutely sure. Have one. Running out. Not planning on ordering any since it's kinda pricey. Maybe later.

Really, taste is so subjective and personal, it's hard to say. And as you get away from smoking, your sense of taste (and smell) improve and your preferences may change. So try different things. If you have a vape shop that let's you sample, visit them. If you have to do it online, order small bottles and see if there are "sample packs". I have sample bottles of flavors I was absolutely sure I'd love sitting in the "well, that didn't work" cabinet. And my main ones right now, I would not have predicted.

(One of the first things I learned here at ECF is don't toss juices. Set them aside in a cool, dark place and move on. Sometimes longer term steeping changes them and you like them. Sometimes your tastes change. I almost never just toss a juice.)

And at the end, I want to thank you everyone who encouraged me and gave me hopes. Hang in there and, most important, have fun with it. I'm convinced that enjoying your vape is a big part of getting away from cigs. They end up seeming so dull and harsh and smelly in comparison...

Same age here. Didn't smoke quite as heavily as you except a stint of 2 pack a day smoking around 18-19 years old. I have tried cold turkey, patches and lozenges. All worked (except cold turkey) and eventually I would wean myself off the remedials and would go about a month and start smoking again.

Vaping is the only thing that has worked for me. I did get an e-cig (Vapor-4-life) and it worked to help me cut down but it wasn't a good solution and I ditched it. When I got my e-go twist and Kanger T3 I was ready to quit and had been smoking around half a pack a day (by smoking half a cig at a time) for awhile. It was seamless at that point.

You're in the right place. This forum is great and the members are all very helpful. All of our journeys are different. If you have the will to quit, vaping can help you overcome the habit. Invest wisely. It's cheaper than smoking and you can always wean yourself off. Smoke an analog or 2 in the morning, vape for a few hours, have another smoke. A guy I work with is doing that. Even if it takes you a year to give up the cigs, it's healthier and cheaper.

Ain't that neat? Keep following the Unwritten Rule Book to Quitting With Vaping and you will be fine.

Yeah, there are no rules this time. Some people do it the "I picked up a PV and never touched a cigarette" again way. I continued to smoke for my first 90 days of vaping. I figured 3 months to break a 30 year habit... I didn't see a problem. And the Unwritten Rule Book said it was ok.

The flexibility seems to be the key to the success of transitioning to vaping. Do it the way that works for you. That, and this weird thing that happens to many (most) of us: The farther you go the more disgusting and nasty smoking becomes all over again. That never happens with traditional quit smoking methods. It happens a lot with vaping. Smoking a cigarette can turn out to be it's own worst negative reinforcement. Not sure why it happens - but it does.

Never forget: There are no hard and fast rules this time. You have permission to play. That's in the Unwritten Rule Book. As long as you are serious about quitting you get to figure out your own personal end game.
