I'm a heavy smoker & I wish someone had started me off with a bigger mod & maybe I would have saved some money . Blu ecigs was a waste but I believed in the concept . The Joye 510's were ok but after a week or two I still needed more . The Ego/Riva was on point from there I got my first box mod & it worked out great . I just wish someone had started me on the Ego . A friend of mine is a heavy smoker & when he asked my advice I steered him towards the Riva for his first PV . He thanks me regularly bcuz I saved him a lot of stress & money by not letting hi buy the seven eleven special or the Blu's he was about 2 invest in . I think your first PV depends on what kind of smoker you are , not by what looks & feels like a real cig . A professional smoker doesn't care what it looks or feels like , as long as the inhale & exhale is close to the real thing .

Those of us that recommend a Riva/Ego to new people get yelled at by the KR808 users.

There's nothing wrong with them or the 510. But if you were a heavy or long time smoker I think an ego or mod would be the way to go. I don't have a mod so I don't know much about them. My neighbors asked me to order something for them and I ordered them both egos.

Some people need the baby steps to adjust. But if you want to get off the cigs, that'll do the trick.

I couldn't have said it better. I started out the wrong way THEN I found ECF. Now I am happy with what I have. :D

First I've seen it described so well, and right on point. You didn't do so bad, I quit first, then found e-cigs, then found better e-cig, THEN found ECF and a professional vaper's career was born !!

Egos were not around when I first started. The mods were too complicated. I started with the 510 and mega batts which gave out after a half hour. I had ten of the batts and two PCCs. Then the mini-ego came out (650 ma)...got five and the multi-charger...then the 1000 ma...got five of those. Then I quit smoking and then worked down to zero nic.

I was a 2 PAD smoker for 35 years...I don't regret one penny that I spent on the e-cig stuff. Life saving investment for me.

Yeah ! I see someone else with an Indulgence . Is it just me ? but do you have the urge to buy a carto for every attachment ? lol Yes ! In the long run I am happy I made the switch to ecigs and every penny was worth it , but I guess I'm just wishing I had saved a few of those pennies so I could buy me a GGTS with the RES . One day ..... Until then it's me & the Dulge

Thanks guys for the support on that one . Been reading on the side lines for awhile & I notice some folks get a little touchy about newbies & what 2 start with and what's suitable for what suit . I just wanna Happy Vape & put my Professional Smoking career in retirement . Now if someone can put me on to a good juice , I'd be great !

Wow I feel u on that , I smoke 2pks a day for over 27 years . It took surviving an aneurysm to get me to search for a smoking alternative . Now I preach to every smoker I know & meet .

OMG, how are you doing? My mom had an aortic aneurysm and just had surgery on one behind her knee. I just had an ultrasound because supposedly they're hereditary. Her sister had one also.

I'm not a KR808 user and actually still have my 51 trio with a 510 kit on the way. I have done some chastising before on the avalanche of EGO/ Riva recommendations having nothing to do with the quality or suitability of the unit. I've never vaped one so I cannot comment on that.

I did hold one in my hand and I can tell you if that was my only option I would still be using analogs. I may still end up with one as I now see the utility but for me an many others smoking is more that just the inhalation experience and at least initially I needed my pv to feel close to a cigarette in my hand. Even when I do get an Ego (likely echo as I do prefer the auto still) I will continue to use and enjoy the 510 mini's and possibly the KR808's if I give them a try and like them better just because I like the feel of the scissor grip in my fingers while smoking / vaping.

But that is just me. The main reason I critiqued the get an Ego / Riva or anything else including those who swear by the KR808's and 510 that I like is they ofter don't even read the OP's post or care about their wants. It's not that I think there are paid shill hawking something it's that people seem to want to proselytize their preference regardless of what the OP is asking for. /RANT

Having said that I am not calling out all EGO/ Riva, insert brand x here users I am only trying to urge people to read and pay attention before making recommendations. And if anyone catches me doing it I hope I will be called out as well.

Edit: I was not trying to put you in this category personally Sweedishfish even though I quoted you. In fact I would say the opposite would be true of you but the yelled at part of the comment was what I was addressing.

I was just joking about being yelled at by the KR808 users. I don't actually care all that much if people don't like my recommendations. I give info about the pvs that I have knowledge of and tried and tell people the one that worked for me.
After that, they can take the infomation and make their own decision.

Well stated, I technically should've invested in a 18650 mod since I was a seriously heavy/chain smoker (60-80 cigs a day) and I tried the 510 pv with the pcc but that seriously didn't workout to swell for me and gave up in less than a week (that was roughly around maybe 08-09 ish. I then checked out the eGo T and it worked for me but hated recharging it so often since I was a serious smoker.

I learned from my mistakes and yes I shelled out enough funds for the eGo T that I could've gotten many mods but that's in the past and I live for today not for tomorrow or yesterday. I will know suggest pv's based on the type of smoker people are vs looks and what not cause an ex-smoker like me will seriously need an 18650 mod and then decide if they want to go lower to a smaller sized bat. For me I have always loved 18650 bats for longevity and output so I will always invest in 18650 compatible mods.

To each his own . The common thread that keeps us stitched together thru out the day is " We quit smoking ! Despite how many years we did it or how many a day we burned . With so many people dying everyday from smoking analogs and those of us who tried & failed miserably at quitting smoking before ecigs , mods & PV's ever existed , today ..... right now .... this moment & the many more moments we'll be able to see because we don't smoke , we vape ! And happy doing it , that's what counts and as long as the advice is towards vaping whether it's a Ego , Riva , Joye 510 whatever the suggestion , the newbie will be the one to make the final decision on what's best for them . Being able to make a decision is a grand gesture all by itself , just in case no one has noticed , smokers no longer get to choose when & where they wanna smoke . So what ever advice I give to anyone I promise it will be a nicotine delivery device
