Ive had my Helios for 2 weeks now and I initially built a coil that didnt work (I think I made the resistance much to high, somewhere around the 3.5 ohm mark - Im new to this) and I put it to the side.

Decided to break it out again and try making another coil.

My experience is limited to making 1 coil that is somewhat functioning on the kayfun and now I have a helios coil under my belt.

Let me first off start by saying, Im not looking for plumes of vapor, I just wanted a decent dripper with a rebuildable coil and the helios is looking out to be not that device for me.

I made a single coil (as I said, Im not looking for plumes) measuring 1.6 ohms which is about right for what Im looking for using cotton balls as a wick.

The vapor production is good, the flavor is not, the draw is super airy OR just right if I close the air ring completely but then I get hardly any vapor whatsoever and a little bit more flavor.

My negatives so far, I hate the draw ring. There is nothing that locks it in place which creates a new problem Ill describe in a second.

The second negative is that you have to unscrew the drip tip so that you can see the coil well enough to put the juice in the right place, this defeats the purpose of a drip tip :). This also creates the problem I mentioned above, every 4-5 puffs, I have to unscrew the top cap which re-adjusts the draw ring...

The third negative is the flavor isnt there. And I mean, hardly any flavor. I can get a significant amount of vapor and not even realize Im vaping anything substantial. What I am experiencing is a slight metallic taste, not anything like Ive experienced before. This isnt burning or dry kanthal, its just a metallic taste, much akin to the difference between a can of liquid versus a bottle of liquid. Theres a hint of metallic, not overwhelming, but I can taste it.

The positive? Pretty easy to make a coil all things considered.

Im almost thinking that my mistake is buying something that at least looks like it was designed for dual / quad coil setups and Im just looking for a simple rebuildable single coil...

Just curious about your thoughts...
