Mrs bakery, pink spot, mt baker vapor and jhonson creek, love mrs ts but it is expensive! Also I just a got a zmax and was using a 306 1.8 ohm atty at about 4 watts and it was heaven! But died after two days, any other atty that would produce vapor and throat hit like that and live longer? Also I got a7 rebuildable but no matter what I do it taste like pooooo lol. I also got a tank vivi nova and the problem isn't as bad as the rebuildable but doesnt come close to the vape of the 306

Just signed up - Been lurking forever and decided to try and help where ever possible. <rant> I had the same problems with the zmax popping attys. This is likely being caused by the Pulse-width modulation (PWM) function of the zmax (which will target the average voltage of many 7 volt bursts to total the volts you've set the device to) This function is an atty killer - the zmax has no protection in place to prevent you from overloading your attached device. If your looking for something that still has PWM, but that switches to steady voltage when the amps get too high to protect your attys, then I would recommend trying an 18650 VV Gripper. (Link: ElectronicStix.Com : SMOKtech Gripper VV 3.0-6.0 18650 Variable 510 OLED - GRIPPER18650) It feels as if the duty cycle calibration has been improved (rate of voltage bursts) over the zmax and again, by switching from PMW to steady voltage when the amperage it too high it should prevent unintentional attys damage/distruction. Out of my small arsenal of PV's, the gripper has quickly become my all day/everyday vape. I have tried it with the stardust, kanger t2 (both require an ego adapter), nova tank, mini nova tank, various dual and single coil cartomizers (w/tank), and they all have performed well. Many have mentioned (on this very forum) the vapor production/quality of the gripper rivals that of the provari  </rant>

I hope this information helps you and others on the continued quest for the perfect vape!

Sound awsome weird you say that bc I was torn between the 2 bc the griper was so much cheaper  you prefer it over the zmax? I like the wattage setting lol. But if it is a atty killer than she can always be returned lol. I've been lurking here for about a year to lol

I like the gripper more than my zmax and even my lavatube........When I got it I wanted to hate it, but it just works sooooooooo well. I really like how easy it is to check the atty ohms and battery voltage too! (hit the power button one time)

My only issues are build quality related. The power button spins in place, and while this has never harmed the function of the device, it is a mild aesthetic gripe. Also there is a little play in the 510 connection on the unit I received, but that has also not lead to any problems thus far......and may not be affecting all grippers.

The Zmax will flash an error code if your atomizer/cartomizer has a short.

I like mods. Currently using a zmax and vivi nova but more of driper kind of guy. Want to try smartvapes attys hope my zmax doesn't kill them like it did my other atty but that
Could have been a bad atty or I fried it lol. Also considering kbv ejoose hope they have sample packs.

Low resistance is needed with a Zmax. USe 2.4 ohms or above. 2.8 ohms is very good I find. I use a Zmax too. Your problem is you are putting on an atty with a too low resistance. You don't need that with a Zmax. Also start at low watts and work up until you get where you like it. it's easy to work out once you have the right ohms on it. :)

The griper looks awsome I think not like pleasure toy :0. Should have seen the look my gf gave me when I showed her what I got in the mail lol and love to l rider tubes to I used it for year waiting to up grade. Happy with zmax for now I just don't want to buy 4 differnt mods when I really would use just one,,,, but for 50 bucks might be worth the test lol. New south park on :)

Thanks kiwivape you the same production of vapor and throat hit with 2.4 as you would with 1.8? I know the ohms law but from my little experience they still seem like different vapes, also does lr vapeing take more battery life? And those attys on smart vapes look awsome!

I don't use 1.8 - it's too low. I get LOTS of vapor and good throat hit with 2.4 ohms and 2.8 ohms. I've also used a 3.0 ohm cartomizer with no problems.
Keep in mind the Zmax is variable wattage - it will adjust the volts for you. Use it in power mode and don't go below 2.4 ohms and you'll be fine. 2.8 ohms is better.
