My name is McWhat, and I fell off the wagon. Mostly hardware issues, dead batteries, dying batteries, running out of juice away from home. I'm sure you know the drill. The dying batteries were the worst, when they delivered an unsatisfying hit, and I knew they were dying, but my PCC hadn't charged the other yet.

I had alot of hardware issues with my old 510, and I got tired of meddling with it. You know, modifying the old cotton cartidges, debridging atty's, etc. Oh yea, and waiting for shipping. I always swore I'd try ecigs again when they were more commercially viable. Local stores, better dependability, and other excuses. Some of my friends were trying the Egos, a local shop in town was pushing them on everyone who came in. I always swore they were too big and bulky, and looked too much like a sex toy. I had plenty of excuses.

Recently I've noticed I get winded too easily, climbing the stairs at work was starting to suck. My nephew was born, and I couldn't bear to be near him, I knew how bad I smelled. I did a pretty good job of quitting the hard way. I was down to 5-6 a day, and I grabbed one of those cheap disposables from Circle K. It helped alot, just a quick puff or two when I needed it.

And then I screwed up, big. I was late running out to meet some friends one Friday night. Instead of grabbing my usual two, I grabbed the entire pack. Walking to the bar I ran into my friend Daniel, who'd also had a 510 back in the day. I noticed his little sex toy in his shirt pocket, and asked if it was better than the old ones. He said it was, and let me hit it. I told him I'd think about it after I finished quitting. Well, we can't smoke indoors in Tucson anymore, haven't been able to for awhile.

I'm sure you remember the bar group smoke, one person lights up, everyone does. Well, here one person gets up, and all the smokers follow. Since I didn't want to sit alone at the table on the fbook, so did I. I tore through that pack. I hadn't smoked that much in a couple of weeks. The next morning I woke up, hit the snooze on my alarm, and ran for the bathroom. I coughed up all sorts of colors, and coughed my throat raw and bloody. By the time I got done coughing my alarm was ringing again.

I tried to smoke a cigarette on my back porch, and that went about as well as you can imagine. I went to the local store that day and walked out with an Ego-C 1000mah upgrade battery, a clearomiser, a drip tip, a cone and 510t atomiser. Oh, and five 5ml bottles of assorted flavors. Only had one any nic, and that was 5mg. That was three weeks ago. I have since switched my single nic bottle to 10mg, picked up a 900mah firefly batt, and some clearomisers. I can't handle anything stronger than 12ish. I think that's a good thing. I still smoke a couple a day, usually at work, or around smokers, but I'm getting there. I also don't see my cigarettes as personal failures like I did before. I'm just still getting there. I find holding my Ego like a cigar helps.

First and foremost, Congrats and Welcome back!!!
Im a newb too, I havent touch a analog in 2 1/2 months maybe longer I stopped counting lol...I went through a similar spell I picked up Blu from my local walgreens,...I was still smoking analogs off an on...then I found this site, and the wonderful, supportive people...which lead me to my first "real pv" (as I call it) my trusty ego -c twist starter kit w/ 24 mg juice which killed my nic craving that I was still having on the blu's (I now vape 16/12mg) the day I got it I tore my pack of smokes up...your not alone, its the hardest thing I have ever done for myself and Im sure there are many people that feel the same way. You are doing such a great job, nothing you do to help better yourself is a failure, its PROGRESS!!!

Good Luck to you and keep on Vaping:)

I didn't have any trouble at all, actually. Not to brag or come off as a jerk, but IMO if you're having problems it's probably because you don't have the right equipment or you're not vaping strong enough juice. I quit on the first day with 24mg, promised myself I'd cut back on nic levels after a year (which I still have less than 4 months left) and then set a date to 0 nic and take it from there to quit vaping entirely. It's not hard, you just have to have a good plan and stick with it. I smoked one cig when I got drunk about a week into vaping and it was gross. I did it for science. I will never smoke a cigarette again. Although my body feels like it quit, my mind does not. I never once suffered a craving for an analog or regretted my decision. I smoked a pack a day+ of Marlboro Reds for 15 years.

I used to look at smokers like they were complete idiots. Now I see them as future converts. If there's one thing that all smokers have in common - it's that they ALL want to quit (or at least think that they should).

One common misconception that new vapers get is that more voltage or more vapor is the answer. What I like to tell them to do is to take two ecigs and vape them both at the same time - do a double vape. Most often, if done properly, they will choke and cough. What this teaches is that it's not MORE vapor, but BETTER vapor that is needed. This is why I tell people to get the right tools for the job. Use the right voltage on the right resistance to get the right wattage for them on the right ratio of juice.

If anyone reading this would like to learn more about vaping, the easy way, I cordially invite you to click the link in my signature and read the Vaper's Handbook. There you will learn about vaping from the basics, to the highly technical advanced aspects, as well as get product and vendor reviews that are updated daily. I wrote it for you. Use it to your advantage. Gain over 9 months of knowledge in a short time.

You're probably right, a 510 wasn't the right equipment. I don't ever remember seeing the "T" style atty's in '09/10 either, back then we'd just fuss around with the stupid cotton wicks. My preferred mod was the coffee straw. I know the Ego setups back then weren't as nice as they are now. I run my ego in regulated mode, and I can tell the difference when I use my firefly bat, but it's not overly harsh. Maybe I'm just paranoid because of those old 510 bats, but I really need the battery meter to feel secure. My friend Stevie can tell the difference, she never really got into ecigs until she hit an unregulated upgrade battery. She had no idea at the time, but we got her over pretty quickly once we found the problem.

I tried vaping some 18mg I had in the back of a cupboard from the old days, maybe the juice went bad, but I couldn't handle it. I had to dilute it down to 12ish to smoke it.

Welcome back to the group. I've been vaping for just over two months. Yes I set a goal. I stumbled. I still stumble. If you read my signature it will explain everything. I also have a blog if your interested. If there is one thing I've learned here it's. Don't count the ones you burn, Count the ones you didn't. Congrats on coming back. It shows will power for a very serious addiction. Some Like ShogaNinja (sorry if i spelled that wrong) are lucky. I chat with a lot that never picked up another analog after they started. I also chat with a lot that after years have one when they really do want one. I just want to wish you the best of luck on your new journey. Good luck, Just don't stop trying. I won't. :toast:

@ShogaNinja, glad you didn't have any problems, for some of us that's not the case :). Once I upgraded to the egos I was able to put away the cigs in 1.5 days, that last day was only 8 cigs. First 2 days were awesome, 2nd 2 days I had big time cravings.

Its been almost 2 weeks now and I get the occasional craving or automatic movement, yay me :). One day in the first week II found myself starting to roll down the window while I was driving home and in the middle of vaping. It was real weird, but after b**ch slapping that left hand with the right hand its come into line.

@McWhat, my every day carry is 2 Mods, 1 ego, 2 3.5ml tanks and 2 2ml tanks; the ego and extra tanks fit nicely into an extra eye glass case that I had. One thing I did that helped me see that it was helping was to fire up cigs after I vaped and noticed that I didn't get any real feeling from it. Keep it up, you'll get there.

I'm currently at 24mg or 26mg and staying here for the near term. I do have an 18mg that I'm doing a bit and will eventually be extending it full time, which is the next goal. Right now I'm just enjoying no smoke, no tar, being less stinky, less winded and once initial investment is recouped, less money going out. But that part is even harder since the toys are sweet :)

I've looked at some vape cases, but they don't seem to be much more than the glass case. It might be useful for my 2 mods, but they fit in my jacket pocket fine.

Never had an ashtray; smoked outside and threw filter in outside garbage when done.

BTW, will they now start having kids make e-cig holders for projects like they used to make ashtrays? :)
