Thanx so much all for the welcome & input!!
My current evod batteries are just the standard fixed voltage batteries. Today I ordered 3 Vision spinner VV 1300mah batteries, 2 mini pro tank 2's & coils in 1.5, 1.8, & 2.2 ohm. I should once I get all of this stuff in have all i need to figure out how to get a warmer hit if it is equipment related....or even possible with a bottom coil unit.
The bottom coil devices are a really a cool vape. The other device you bought sounds like cigalike style with a cartomiser. The cartomiser is a metal tube with a wick and coil, and some polyfill around it to hold about 1ml of e-liquid. There are also XL carts that hold up to 2ml. ETA: I was wrong, once you explained again, it seems that it's a top coil clearomiser. I'll leave the following, as the cartomisers might be of great interest to you.
You can get cartimisers with 510 threads that will fit on your ego battery including the VV ones you have on order. You can also get cartomiser tanks, which you insert a cartomiser with a punched hole in it. The tank acts as a reservoir for the e-liquid which wicks into the cartomiser throught the punched hole.
eg
Boge Stainless 510 Cartomizers 2.0ohm
and a tank to put it in:
Smoktech UDCT V1 - Clear Tank - Fantazia Vapes
These for illustration purposes only. You'll need to find a supplier with stock in your country.
Here's a good video tutorial from one of the greatest, Phil Busardo:
Since you're an EE I'll go into a bit more technical detail which I think you will find useful. (We just had conversation this morning on another thread about new users not being ready for the technical details... too funny)
As you can image it's the power going through the coil that generates the heat, which in turn vapourises the juice. The bottom coil Evod you have has a recommendation from Kanger to run it at about 6 watts. The Evod battery is probably a fixed output of 3.7 volts, so on a 2.5 ohm coil, you are actually running that at 5.5 watts. That's probably considered a "safe" power to give people. Personally I would aim more for a 2.2 ohm coil on that and most other bottom coil devices on that battery.
The cartomisers on the other hand can handle a *little* more heat. Some people say 8 watts, which is real handy: Volts = ohms + 2 gives 8 watts.
Note that it's the device design that governs what power you need to run it at. This is adjusted with the variable voltage depending on the coil resistance, or must be done by selecting the correct coil resistance in the cases where you have a fixed voltage battery.
I suspect you'll just grab this and run with it, but do ask questions if I've been a little too brief. I've honestly never written for someone who has more knowledge than myself. I do know that when I started I didn't put all the pieces together for a while, but I think you've already figured out the relationship between coil resistance and how is going affect the vape.
O don't really understand all of the lingo yet as far as throat hit...etc....I just know that I like the warm smooth hit without the harsness and dry feeling in the front of my throat that makes me want to cough. I seem to get close to that with this Jomotech thingy....not sure where the coil is or how it works. It has a clear tank with a metal tibe like thing through it with some wicks on it. Looks like it could be a real PIA... it certainly wasn't as easy to fill as the evods & I have no idea what would fit it as the threads are different. I just know I like the warm hit and the slim size.
Oh, that's a top coil clearomiser. Similar devices might be the CE5 and the Vivi Nova. Yes they can be pain, you have to keep tipping and twirling them to make sure the wicks stay wet. I made the change to bottom coil devices because the vapour production is so good, but it sounds like you might like the warmer vape from a cartomiser as I suggested.
I think we all just try different things until we find out what works best for us.
