If you're a non smoker and want to start using ecigs I would suggest you only use the carts without nicotine in them.
Many youngsters started smoking cigarettes because of images like that. It was a teriible reason to start smoking and is a terrible reason to start vaping.
First off this is a great and dynamic forum. I love the support and information that is offered here in the community! Fantastic resource.
So let me introduce myself a little here: like the title says I am a "non-smoker". I started seeing many friends and acquaintances smoking these intriguing little devices about 7 or 8 months ago. Recently I have been doing some freelance work for a company that distributes ecigs so I have been learning about the devices directly.
Since I've had many relationships with smokers while not actually smoking myself I really appreciate the "revolutionary" aspect of the ecig.
Besides, it looks so damn cool and I've already enjoyed feeling like a femme fatale using it on occasion![]()
Anyway, I'll be posting q's here and there on the forum and hopefully getting to know some of you better.
In the meantime I'm enjoying reading about your experiences and I'd love to hear about what inspired you to get into this whole "vaping" thing![]()

I can't help thinking there is a little hypocrisy being written here. Are some of you really saying that you can't become a vaper unless you become a smoker first? I thought most of us agree that nicotine is not bad for you, it is possibly addictive but also possibly actually good for you. There have been studies that support these ideas. So, if someone finds the notion of inhaling nicotine attractive and wants to try it, and they are about to buy their first pack of cigarettes, you wouldn't try to steer them towards vaping instead?

Do you think it's like a requirement or something? I get the feeling some of you think it's like a job promotion, ie: you can't be a doctor until you've been a resident first, you can't manage a McDonalds until you've assembled burgers first..etc.

+1 to that whole bit, Dee.
It seems that there are many in the world who have an internal and unacknowledged script running that goes something like a corollary of the Groucho Marx quote, "I would not join any club that would have someone like me for a member." In this case, people would prefer that others not join the group they themselves find they are already members of. In either case, the script seems to me to run only under the system kernel of "Shame". I believe there is no shame in enjoying and benefitting from nicotine, nor even in the perhaps silly act of blowing out cool vapor.
I would guess that this is a minority opinion here (although, who knows -- maybe I'm wrong), but I just can't stomach anything that reeks of tribalism or elitism. I believe it is plain wisdom to seek freedom above all -- and that that freedom requires a set of personal responsibilities: among them, the responsibility to acquire the necessary knowledge, the responsibility to strike a healthy balance between the exercise of commonsense and curiosity, and, not least, the responsibility to respect the freedom of all others.
And besides, as you aptly point out, as far as we can tell so far, better a person begins vaping than begins smoking, right?

i honestly believe drinking soda is more harmful than vaping.
i honestly believe drinking soda is more harmful than vaping.
So why is everyone so against a non-smoker starting to vape, but don't care if I drink 20 cans of soda a day??![]()
Would depend if it was diet soda or notSo why is everyone so against a non-smoker starting to vape, but don't care if I drink 20 cans of soda a day??![]()
Lol try telling the FDA that when they ban e-cigs in the USA partly due to the fact that some people find them "cool"
Sherid, I'm not being hypocritical, far from it. Smokers do not "disgust and appall" me at all. Far from it, I smoked heavily for 30 years & so wish I had never started! On the other hand, I have a neighbour that isn't interested in giving up analogues & he is gobsmaked that I am still "happy" for him to pop in for a coffee & light up.
However, can any of you who are posting on this thread in favour of encouraging a non smoker to start vaping truly put their hands on their hearts & say they never regretted starting smoking? Would any of you encourage people to start smoking?
If the e-cig is banned, & I reiterate, one of the reasons proposed for banning it is due to the fact that it may attract non smokers to take up the habit, will those non smoking vapers that you have encouraged turn to buying analogues?
