Just wanted to stop in and say hello! I just signed up yesterday and I've been reading as much as my little brain can take in!! *haha* ~ I'm almost at overload!!

I've been a smoker for 13 years now - normally smoking 12-15 a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. I was at our office Christmas party the other night and saw for the first time - the e'cigarette in use. So I thought I'd check into 'em. Buying them here in our small town would cost me right at 160.00 to get started, and right here at Christmas time, I dont have 160.00 laying around!!! =/

I'm trying to figure out which is the best e-cigarette to order and possibly where from. I've read many threads here ~ but some of what is being said is WAY over my head!! (Haven't learned all the 'terms' just yet!!!)

Any suggestions or help would be wonderful!!! I just need something simple enough for a blonde to use!!!! ;)

The best is subjective at best! Everyone has their own ideas. I started with the 2 piece KR808D-1 which is the Blues, Vapor Kings, etc..... The Vapor Kings have a good Rep and can be ordered at vapor4life.com. Easy to use!

Other one highly recommended is the 510 with is a three piece unit and very inexpensive to boot.

Either way $160 is a rip off and I wouldn't pay that even if I had $160! Online is the way to go!

Hiya Rob ~ Thanks for the info!! :)

I've been to CigNot's website, and Awesome Vapor. The one I keep seeing pop up the most is the 510 ~ I'm guessing that's a rather popular one?? I saw somewhere on here someone was talking about the 3 piece unit is not as good as the 2 piece. ( ??? ) I've also been reading where people are saying the batteries aren't lasting on certain ones??

I'm so confused!! 8-o

Tell me about it Magic! I have a 510 coming to try but so far the cartomizer (2 piece) is working out. Vapor4life seems to have good batteries as well as Nhaler.com. Both listed on this forum, both good dealers. I have a couple of long batteries coming from Vapor4life.com as they are supposed to be good.

Once I get the 510 I can compare but I actually get good vapor from my KR808D-1 now that I am using a juice that has a little VG in it.

Either way, 3 piece is always more of a hassle and 2 piece is easier so it is totally up to you as you will probably be buying new ones to try out anyway in the future!

Hey, MagicEyez!

I have to recommend the Joye510. I've been around the block a few times and this is the one I keep coming back to. It really delivers the nicotine and vapor like nothing else I've used right out of the box. The battery life is a little short, but generally one battery will charge faster then you can use the other one. And it shouldn't be a problem with your 12-15 habit.

You'll find the best prices from China, where they come from. I use a company called www.heaven-gifts.com for just about all my purchases. Check out the prices. You'll have to pay shipping, but it usally only takes about a week when ordering EMS shipping.

You'll hear alot about the KR808D-1 (AKA the Vapor King) which is probably about as popular at the Joye510. It's biggest selling point is the simplicity. It's a two piece unit. So, while you're checking out the 510 check out that one as well. The question is how screwed will you be if you get the Joye510 and decided you should have gone with the KR808D-1? A lot less than you think. You can buy a $2 adapter from heaven-gifts that will let you use the KR808D-1 cartomizers on your Joye510 batteries.

I say start with the Joye510 because it will teach you the basics and I think you'll be very happy with casual use. Then when you place your next order throw in a $2 adapter and spend the $7 bucks on a pack of cartomizers. Try them out, too. You may have a preference. You may like both. Yes, people, you are allowed to like both!

However, DO NOT SPEND $160 AT A MALL FOR AN E-CIG. You'll be disappointed every time. Look at heaven-gifts and see what $160 bucks will get you there. A Joye510 kit (two batteries, two atomizers, wall charger, and 5 carts) will set you back $36.00. Throw in another $20-30 bucks for juice and you're really not in for more then a couple of cartons of cigarettes. Heck, if you're feeling brave get the adapter and a pack of cartomizers, too.

Don't be afraid to try any flavor juices that strike your fancy. You never know what you're going to like.

Oh, and come back here often! Ask your questions and really enjoy the pleasure that is vaping! You really have no idea how it changes your life until you wake up one morning and realize how much you enjoy vaping.

Hope some of that was helpful!

--Prof Daffy
P.S. Heaven-gifts has the best selection for parts and juices and wonderful service. That said, you can also try rockymountainvapor or cignot in the states if you want something faster. But DO shop around.

For what it's worth, I have a KR808D-1 and love it to death. I've heard a lot of great things about the 510, and do intend to buy it when I can... But I will tell you that people do a lot of daunting modding to their 510s to get it working the way they want. As for the KR, well, I took it out of the package, screwed a cartomizer on, and just started puffing. It's a very good first e-cig, I think.

Hey there Magic!
Howdy from a fellow Texas :) I am using the 510 from StrictlyEjuice.com, Flavor Shop! (kits start at $30.50) and really love it. My friends have gotten hooked too. I also placed an order with www.vapor4life. for one of there KR808D-1 passthrus with cartomizers to see how I like that one too. Both have wonderful customer service and are there to help you with anything! I'm so happy I found this place and am off the cigs...almost at the 2 week mark. I hope you find what works for you and welcome!

510 seems to be the a great device from what I have read on the forum. That is why it is going to be my next purchase. I currently have and e-cigar which hasn't let me down yet but as with anything with me I want to try something else. If you think finding a device is hard wait until you start looking into e-liquid.....So many to choose from!

Oh and hello from a fellow Texan.

Wow, you guys are awesome!!! Thank you so much for all the info!!!!

I haven't placed an order yet, but I am getting ready to ~ I'm just still trying to figure out what is best!!! (an easiest for a n00b!!!)

I also had one more question ... (please pardon me - I haven't learned all the proper terms just yet) ... But I see that you can get different lvl's in the 'drops'?? I'm guessing the different levels will make up the strength of them?? I smoke Marlboro Lights right now, is there a certain one I should look into??

That's going to depend on how much you smoke, as well. As far as "throat hit" goes, as a Lights smoker, you're probably going to want to get a low to medium liquid, probably around 12 mg. Your nicotine levels will change how it feels as you vape, as well as the obvious difference in delivering different amounts of nicotine. 12 mg is the range I vape personally, and it's more than enough to get you your nicotine fix if you're a lighter smoker.

However, if that isn't cutting it for you, you might want to upgrade. Especially if you smoke heavily (pack a day or more), you'll probably feel more comfortable with 18 mg or higher. Additionally, many people, like myself, wind up choosing a weaker juice so they can spend more time vaping and still get the same nicotine. It's really a personal preference, and you might wind up needing to experiment before finding what works for you. I was personally a cigar smoker before switching over, so I can't speak from experience, but other posters might be able to let you know what it was like switching from Lights. Good luck!

Hey there MagicEyez from a fellow Texan! My sister lives in Lindale, so I am very familiar with the Tyler area.

You should read this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...strated-guide-e-cigs-parts-1-through-6-a.html

It will help you with terminology, different models, pros and cons, and is a great source to read through.

I own the Joye510 from cignot (I bought the $65 kit and some juice) and love it, but what may be perfect for me may not work well for you as we all smoke differently.

I too spent way too much for my first e-cig, but in trying to figure out how to make it work better, I found this place. So be glad you found this forum BEFORE you bought your first e-cig, also referred to as a PV or Personal Vaporizer.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck on your journey, and let us know what you decided to do.

Thanks for the links Jim ... I'm in the Tyler area so Houston is about 4 hours from me.

I'm so thankful for everyones help, but it seems the more I look at, the more confused I get!!!! =/

"East TX" didn't tell me much about your location. There are a few local suppliers in the DFW area, which shouldn't be too far away. Maybe someone will chime in with suppliers in your area.

Hey MagicEyez

i too am a newbie to the vaping world, i just ordered my first e-cig this weekend and received it this morning. i got a vapor king (a.k.a a KR808D-1) and i absolutely love it. extremely easy to use. it is a 2 piece design, so all you have to do is screw a "cart" (the disposable cartridge containing nicotine and an atomizer) onto the battery and start puffing! i smoked marlboro lights as well, 20-30 a day, and i havent had one yet today....longest ive gone without one in probably 6 years or so.....anyway i havent tried any other models but as a newbie i found this one extremely easy to use and very effective, and would recommend it to anyone else new to vaping who wants something simple to start out with. i ordered it from Vapor4Life, which is a pretty popular supplier on this forum and i have nothing but good things to say.....just my 2 cents, for what it's worth

I'm still impressed that you had a working avatar after only your second post! I think it took me three posts to figure it out.

Here is the way I learned. It's not exact, but it's a good starting place based on what you smoke.

36 mg = death wish
24 mg = unfiltered
18 mg = regular
11 mg = light
6 mg = ultra light
0 mg = spring water

I used to smoke lights and I'm fine with 12 mg. But I also like to vape for about twice as long as I liked to smoke. I used to be able to smoke a complete cigarette in under a minute, because I worked in retail for 14 years. You gotta be fast. Now I like to kick back and enjoy the vapor and the flavor.

I'd say start with 18mg. Worst case scenario is that you'll just be satisfied in less time. A lot of people vape 24mg but they tend to pick it up, vape until they're satisfied, and move on. I tend to sit in front of the computer and vape while reading the forum. And I like to enjoy a 10 minute vape break at work. If the strength was too high I'd be nicked out in half the time. And where's the fun in that.

--Prof Daffy
P.S. Almost forgot. Heaven-gifts also sells adapters for 510 atomizers that you can use on the KR808D-1 (Vapor King), too. So you really can't go wrong.

Another recommendation for the Vapor King (KR808D-1) from Vapor4Life. It's easy to use and the taste & throat hit with the cartomizers are excellent! I would start at 18mg. (I started at 36mg and I'm now vaping mostly 24mg; soon I'll start adding some 18mg's to my collection and see how it goes.)

Welcome and good luck!
