Cost of getting off Cigarettes?
Priceless.

As many have said, a whole LOT of us overpaid for our first venture into the vaping world. It's almost a rite of passage.
Use that thing to wean yourself off analogs while taking your time deciding what to get next.

Even though I was hosed the first time out, I'm still very happy that I bought it. Without that mall shyster hawking those overpriced e-cigs I never would have started vaping.

Welcome to the forum. There are some fantastic people here that will help you out and teach you everything you want to know. All of the different options and terminology can be very confusing at first, so spend some time poking around the site and develop an idea of what you think will work out best for you.

The Resurrector is a very excellent cartomizer. It's one of the best out there. A lot of kits that include cartomizers give you less than real good ones. The Resurrector is better than what you usually get in a kit.

Personally, I don't like disposable e-cigs. A lot of people don't like charging batteries, so they pick something like an eGo or kGo even though those ARE batteries. When they wear out like any battery, you throw them away. So, I definitely prefer the e-Power and recommend it over the sealed battery types to anyone who is smart enough to change the batteries in a flashlight without hurting themselves. I suspect that you are.

Plus, CrystalclearVaping is an excellent vendor and they don't sell junk. That's why, when you look at their site, you'll see they don't have a million different items. They only sell things they use themselves.

With that particular kit, all you need is some extra cartomizers and probably some more juice if you don't have any. But I think you said you had some on order? 10 cartos is not an excessive number to start out with. You get 5 with the kit. I'd suggest 5 more (one box) of something with a little more resistance. Boge 2ohm cartos are a good alternate. That's it. That kit is very complete. You can test juice with the atomizer and use the cartomizers only for the juice you like.

Sailorman,

Thanks so much again!
I just had a few more questions. I know what ohm's are but what affect does having a bit more resistance like the Boge 2ohm do in regards to the vapor? Second what is the difference between a cartomizer and atomizer to test the juice?

I didn't even get a a manual with this thing. He just showed me how to use it and how to refill it. Telling me not to get any juice in the hole.

So far my only complaint with this POS I bought is I can suck on it pretty good and I don't really get any vapor coming out as I exhale. I have tried pulling in slower but same results. But if I do that I can feel the cartomizer around my lips get really hot.

Anyway thanks again to everyone. Wish I found this place before I bought my e-cig. Was just a spur of the moment thing. I really have been wanting to quit and saw the stand and kind heard about e-cig and thought hell why not. Oh well like I said you live and you learn.

Good thing is looks like my Juice should be at my door today. Pretty fast shipping from Alt Cigs I must say. Can't wait to try the different flavors.

I just had to share this email I got from AltCig.com. Specially after being screwed over at the mall.

Jay,

Thank you for your order. We sure appreciate that. Each of us at AltCig started with a kit from the mall and your story touched us. We added some extra supplies and an ecig to your package. We sent you a Passthrough PV (personal vaporizer also called PV and ecig). We hope that you enjoy it as much as we enjoy them. There's an instruction sheet attached to this email. I believe we put some filled and non-filled cartomizers and a drip tip in your package also and extra e-liquids. If you have any questions, we're here to help.

After a few days with my mall ecig I saw the potenital of it but it wasn't quite enough. I searched Craigslist and there was a guy selling two of his PVs. He met and spent an hour at Starbucks showing me how it all worked. All that to say, your extras in your package is our way of paying his generosity forward. Welcome to this wonderful smoke-free world. Enjoy your journey.

Be well,
Sunny

I am simply amazed at this company for being so kind to send me more goodies than I ordered and a different e-cig.

Not sure what a drip tip is but I will look that up.

Here is to a better happier vap. At least I have 2 options now, Till I buy a better system.

Wow! What an awesome story! True vapers are such awesome people aren't they? Most "have been there".

Like you, I started with a cheap starter kit and even some disposable e-cigs from Walgreens. I wish I had known then what I know now, but it is a learning process. I just yesterday moved up to a more powerful kit than the one I currently have.

Glad you are here and I would personally love to hear any future success you have with getting off cigarettes.

Wow!!

That is really nice of them, gold star for excellent customer service!
You will find (at least from what I have seen) that there's a little "pay it forward" mentality here on ECF, which is pretty cool.

I was going to answer your questions about ohms and resistance but I'll leave that for someone better-versed than I in technicimal-speak LOL. So far I've just done what sailorman and a few other extremely-knowledgable folks have advised and it's worked out well. :)

For any given voltage, lower ohms produce warmer vapor and more of it. Higher ohms (resistance) created cooler vapor. With small batteries though, you can't go tool low in resistance or you'll damage the battery. For small e-cigs like the ones you got at the mall, you don't want to go lower than 2ohms. With a larger battery, you can go as low as 1.25 or 1.5ohms.

To see the effect of changing resistance, you can use this simple formula. Remember, the more watts, the more heat and the more vapor. Too many watts and your juice could taste burnt and harsh. Most people prefer from 6-10 watts.

Volts X Volts / ohms = Watts

So, if you have a 3.7V battery and a 2ohm carto, 3.7 x 3.7 / 2 = 6.8 watts. That's a good vape.

If you raised the resistance to 3ohms, then: 3.7 x 3.7 / 3 = 4.6 Watts. That's pretty lame.

You can plug different resistances in that formula to see the effect of changing the resistance.

Atomizers are better for tasting juice because you can use more than one flavor in an atomizer.
You can drip a few drops into an atomizer and taste it without devoting a whole cartomizer to a juice you might not even like.
Once you fill a cartomizer with a juice, it's stuck with that flavor. You can't mix flavors in a cartomizer.
Also, atomizers taste cleaner than cartomizers because there is no filler in them. You're just vaping pure juice.

It was really awesome of them.

They sent me other flavors to try on top of what I ordered, a drip tip, pre-filled carts, and an ego 510 pass through. And an actually manual, unlike the crap I got at the mall.

To Sailorman I have found out that the e-cig I got at the mall is def not a 510, it's way bigger. I can actually set the 510's in the battery part. So might be the 4081 you were thinking.

As I type I'm charging up the ego 510 pass through. I have no idea how long it will take to charge. the pdf directions just told me how to fill Cart's up.

If anyone has an idea that would be great. Not sure if has circuit protection to stop it from over charging.

You can use the passthru while its charging, hence the name passthru. I told you the folks at AltCig were "great: I believe was the word. You my friend just got a taste of what this small little corner of the internet called ECF can do. Welcome and may the rest of your journey be as easy and fruitfull as this one.
BTW, if 1 more person says "oh my god. you got screwed, I'm going to, UMM, ahh, well I guess theres nothing I can do. But really enough already. after about the 3rd or even the 6th post saying OMG you got ripped, it was stupidly redundant. We get the point and so does the OP. Give it a rest.

Its a smok Tech Stainless 1.7 510 Cartomizer with a drip tip that AltCigs gave to me for free, along with ego 510 pass through.
Ok, do you know how to fill the cart (cartomizer)? You remove the white rubber tip and drip 2-3 drops at a time around the outside edge avoiding the center tube. Kind of like pouring beer. Let the 2-3 drops soak in. Rinse and repeat until the cart filling is saturated with juice but not pooling on top of the filling. You should be able to see daylight thru the center air tube when finished. No juice should be dripping thru threaded end. This may happen while you are learning to fill. Just clean up, and look thru hole if you cannot see thru blow thru threaded end then clean excess juice that pools on top of filling after blowing. You only blow at the end if you have inadvertently over filled the carto. You can find tutorials on all these things by using the "search ECF with Google" box at the top right of any page. There are vidoes on anything you could possibly need.

BTW the drip tip gets inserted in place of the white rubber piece you removed to fill the carto. it is a tip you can drip juice directly thru to top off carto every now and then when needed

Starting to get it now. Seems a little bit of a learning curve. I did one and not a lot of vapor changed my technique a bit and coughed lol. For some reason I tend to do better with the one I got at the mall that has no button, you just inhale and it turns on. Not sure what that is all about but I will get use to it I'm sure.

Seems to be a combination of how long to hold the button to heat the juice up and inhaling.

Should I put a rubber piece over the drip tip when not in use to the juice doesn't evaporate or anything like that? I have to say I do like the drip tip over the little plastic piece.

Juice does not evaporate. Drip tip or rubber piece, not both. There is a huge learning curve. We have kind of started at like step 5 just to get you vaping. You need to spend some time reading here and you will be puffing clouds of vapor in no time. Good Luck. Do both of us a favor and read up on the products you have then if you still dont understand feel free to ask. Sailorman, myself and others will keep this thread bookmarked so every time you post here someone will get to you. It may not be as fast as yesterday and tonight, but you will get answers.

Uh-oh? You need to remove the little plastic piece. Just put the drip tip on...

Was it a pre-filled or blank carto? Do you know how to fill a carto? Here's a video:

He uses smaller cartos so you would have to use more liquid than that, almost double IF yours is an XL 1.7 Ohm carto. If it is standard size, then it's just like what he uses...

You can also use a syringe - if you want to, ask and I'll explain how.

With an eGo passthrough I think it's okay to hold the button down ~1 second before you start your pull. Then keeping the button down, take a long, soft draw; maybe up to 5 seconds if you can, more. Draw the vapor in your mouth, do not direct inhale! Then open your mouth and inhale. Try to inhale briefly and then take your time on the exhale.

Hope it helps.

The juice won't evaporate, but if you're not going to use a cartridge, you can put the condoms back on to keep anything from getting in there. Never throw away condoms. They come in handy too often.

About the batteries: I hate to send you back to those pirates, but didn't I see an adapter on that site? It may have been another ripoff site I was discussing with someone else though. I'm not sure what your mall batteries are. They sound too big to be 4081's. If they were, a 4081/510 adapter is easy enough to find. I'm at a loss. According to Politically(?), the 4081 is just like the 510 except for a slightly different thread pitch.

You'll get used to the manual button. You're using the right cartomizer for sure. Push the button, count to 2, and inhale slowly into your mouth. Try to do a slow, easy draw for about 5-10 seconds. Let go of the button and hold it in your mouth. Inhale through both your nose and mouth. Exhale through both your nose and mouth. It's not even that necessary to inhale into your lungs. Most of the nic is absorbed by your mouth and sinus cavities. You'll get the hang of the button quickly. It'll be second nature in a day or so.
