I bought my aunt the 901 attys w/ the DR808. She likes them, and used to smoke the marlboro light 100's.

We did not buy a kit, we ordered batteries and attys seperately at valuevapor. So far the 8 attys & 4 batteries all work just fine.

Then we bought the eliquid from house of vapors, and they like the menthol. But you will need to determine taste on your own.

Beware -- the PRE-FILLED carts are nasty (dont know why), so make sure you order some trial ejuice at the same time as your ecig. They could be seperate suppliers.

just read the formum and take GOOD NOTEs, save pages to your browser favorites so you can find them later.

You should still get a Riva if the price works for you. I have an ego and love it. My vapor king was a little light, and have not touched it since I got my ego about 3 weeks ago. Order a higher vg, and for you, maybe go 12 mg nic, or 18 tops. Some juices are harsher than others. I love my Vapor Bomb peach. almost no throat hit, and its 20%vg. My tasty vapor waffle has quite a bit of throat hit (harshness) but the flavor is good, mellow and not sweet. Menthol probably will give you throat hit, and if you dont want that, you may want to stay away from the menthol, or anything cinnamon.

The ego has allowed me to not need an analog. I dont think the VK would have done it for me.

Hello JC and welcome to ECF.

VG will give more vapor while PG will give a sweeter taste and more throat hit if I am correct. I believe the Riva and eGo are basically the same PV. As for differences between the 510 and 901 I am not sure so I will not comment on that. I currently have a 510 and love it but will be upgrading to an eGo in the near future.

VG=Vegetable Glycerin, and PG =Propylene Glycol. Both are e-juice dilutants (you don't want to be vaping pure nicotine, now do you?). PG is considered to give better flavor & throat hit, and VG produces more vapor. A lot of people use a mix of the two.

There's no fundamental difference between a Riva & eGo, other than a minor difference in battery capacity (750mAh & 650mAh, respectively, although the manufacturers of both are now producing larger models).

A Riva 510 accepts 510 atomizers, and a Riva 901 accepts 901 atomizers.

As long as you're up this late, you might as well have a look at MistressNomad's videos; they're short & pretty well done: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

You may want to try a 901. It is somewhat lighter on throat hit than the Riva would be, but you can get good throat hit with juices that have more PG. The carts on the 901 also hold a fair amount of liquid, as carts go. I find they last about 40 minutes, where as the 510 carts (which is what the Riva uses) last about 20-30 minutes. That's with how I vape, though.

There's a strong possibility your friend's Riva has an LR atty attached, which burns hotter and could be why it seems harsh to you.

I do have LR 510 ....had no clue that would cause it to be harsh...thought it was just a longer lasting atomizer. Thanks for the info..learn something new everyday!!

Actually, the reverse is true; they tend to burn out out quicker than standard attys. Most of the vendors that sell them won't guarantee anything other than DOAs for that reason.

OK, we went to the e-cig store that is about an hour away from us. My husabnd got an eGo and 30ml juice for $84.95 before tax. It came w/2 batteries, one cone, 2 attys, and 10 carts. I just bought mine from Liberty Flights and got the same thing with an extra cone and about 10 different juice samples (5ml) and high capacity tips (5 pack) for $99, shipping and all! I am so excited!!! (used the coupon code, ecf, for the 20% discount)
PI--You were spot on! It was the LR atty that made it too harsh for me. The eGo is perfect! Thanks!

I was going to come by last night but either yall or stacys mom got me sick...feel a little better today, so hopefully thinking it was just the rain, but doubt it. Kayleigh has soccer tonight soooo we will see. When is yours due to ship out? I had to go to denton and get me another battery last night, my button on my riva got stuck and burned it up...he replaced it for free and I bought me a drip tip...love it..Going again sat. to buy some JR mint juice and a delrin tip and a case and some more atomizers...

And do you not find it odd that we are less than 2 miles from each other and we are talking on a forum with people all over the world....haha..
