I know this was already posted in another thread but it was closed. I am purchasing an EGO Twist (650/1000) with the intention of dripping. I found this Drip Shield and wanted to know which atomizers I should get:

- 2.5 ohm Ego-C types and remove the spike?
- 510 Atty's (LR or HR?)?
- Hybrid Atty's ?

Sorry for my confusion, this is my first dripping setup (and I wanna nail it right the first time). I've been happily DIY'ing my own juices at 80pg/20vg on a standard ego-c setup w/ 2.5 ohm but I've never dripped. Also, I assume the 510/hybrid attys screw inside the battery (not outside) and fit inside the shield? Does the shield also fit the standard 510 drip tips?

Thanks in Advance.

Order a 306 drip atomizer and a drip tip. It has a 510 thread and you will want to order a 2 ohm resistance for best vaping on a standard eGo. For the Twist, order it in 2.8 or 3 ohms since you will be able to vary the voltage. Search Google for "306 drip atomizer". Most vendors on ECF will carry them.

Wow, I can't express how awesome this forum is. Thanks for the quick reply DaveP, that illustration explained everything perfectly. So do you prefer the 306 atty's then, should I try out any others while I'm placing my order? Have you had any leakage problems with this one? Thanks again for all the help (and very nice looking Les Paul up there).

Hi - I sometimes use a 510 to drip with, but mostly an LR306 with a "Cannon" drip tip.

To answer (at least part of your question), you can get a regular 510 atty to fit the drip shield you like. It wouldn't fit a 306, but would fit a 510 like this one for example (this atty comes with a small tube tip, so hover over the pictures to see what it actually looks like): 510 Atomizer - 2.2 ohm (with tip)

With a Twist you should go with LR (low res) or SR (standard res). HR (hi res) requires more volts to get the best performance than the Twist can provide.

Looking at the full size picture of the drip shield, you can use a 510 drip tip. Here is a page that has more info on drip shields in general: Empire Drip Shields

I'm not familiar with "eGo-C spikes" and have never used a Hybrid atty, so someone else will have to chime in on that. Cheers!

I use the Vision Vivi Nova for my every day vape. I use the 306 to test juices and occasionally with thicker juices. Dripping is awkward unless you can sit in one place and vape. Driving and dripping don't go well. Dripping is a good way to try new juices without filling a carto or tank. They clean easily between juices.

You will need to dry burn a dripper after washing to get it ready for the next juice. It's just a procedure in which you shake out an atty after washing and put it back on the battery. You press the fire button and listen to it sizzle while watching the coil. When it glows cherry red, release the button. Pulse the button for short periods and release when you see a cherry red glow. That burns off caked juice and cleans the coil.

Be careful not to burn the coil more than it takes for the glow to appear for a second. A wisp of smoke is normal when the coil glows red. That's juice burning off. You can burn out the wire if you do it too many times or hold it too long after you see the glow. Dry burn carefully!

How about drinking and dripping:p Haha

Definitely familiar with popping an atty or two, got it down to a science now. I'm just going to be happy that the juice doesn't have as much of an opportunity to dry and cake up so the flavor stays fresh. Now if I can just decide whether to go with the vision mini vivi nova or the kanger t2/t3... reviews seem comparable.

Also, thanks for the help and linkage Ocelot. I'm slowly starting to put everything together, now if I can just get it to look nice and drip perfectly without leakage and have super flavor/vape for a reasonable price I'll be as happy as Dikembe Mutombo Blocking A Shot. Now I just need to make a choice.

I use a 900mAh Twist with a 1.5 ohm Cisco spec 510 from AvidVapor and the drip cone from CloudsofVapor. I run it about halfway between 3.75 and 4.0 volts and it works really good.

(dig my ghetto eGo stand, lol)

That's awesome, what ratio do you vape at (pg/vg). I'll prolly get a shield just because I'm spending less than I did on analogs so I get to reward myself. Anybody have experience with the 306's sold at ecigsupply.com (they look like the ecs makes em)... how about bridgeless (I've heard it has a lil better taste, but I can see it having leakage problems)... and if bridgeless do I go with 3 or 4 hole? Sorry, I can ask questions all day... but I'll try to make this my last as I'm reaching a conclusion.

Thanks! I only vape 50/50. More PG than that and I don't enjoy vaping as much. 100% VG is great in cartos and attys but they don't last as long. The atty I bought is $9, and the Cone Shield was only $8. I want to try 306 next but this is working great, so I don't know.

I'm the exact same way, I used to vape 80vg/20pg, loved it but killed my attys... switched to 50/50 and still loved it but switched to 20vg/80pg just because everbody else was doing it and I noticed my flavors popping a lil more... and I still have 5 used attys working and 4 unused for emergency.

So anybody buy 306 attys from ecigsupply.com...? Only reason I ask is because they're local so shipping is free and fast... and their prices are pretty good. Only drawback is I don't know who the OEM for the 306 is, and their site says it's ecigsupply.

NM, Got the answer from ECS. They just renamed the Joy 306 to ECS 306 so they're genuine. Also, this video really helped alot. Gonna get a silver ego twist w/ a Joye 306 LR atty (I've heard they last WAY longer than Cisco, stop me if I'm wrong... like 2 weeks vs a month)... and finally a 306 drip tip w/ the cone to catch the extra leakage (Prolly throw some paper towel in there to catch most of the leaks). Sounds like the big win here is no burnt taste and better flavor... and no messy refills (except for battery changing, which is why I might go with a 900 or 1000 mah battery).... thanks for all the help friends. I'll post results when I fire it up.

Hello my friends,

Just an update... I got my ego twist (650mah I assume, it's longer than the standard ones by about half an inch or so) and supposedly the Joye 306 LR (1.5ohm) and HR (3 ohm) bridged atomizers with the XL 306 Drip Tip and a silver cone (that for some reason doesn't fit my cartridges but fits pretty nicely over the drip tip). At first I was ...... cuz the one I tried got too hot even at 3.2v and just didn't really impress me (I assume this one was the LR). I gave up for the day and just used the battery the next day. So last night I give it another try with the other atty w/ some new banana cream Loranns 80pg/20vg at 10% mix... FRIGGIN DELICIOUS!!! TASTED LIKE BANANA RUNT CANDY. I decided to try some diff tobacco flavors I had steeping for about a month cranked up above 4v and found I like RY4, SM Tobacco, and the TFA Tobacco's. Still not a fan of M-Type... wish I had my 555 still (all mixed at 80pg/20vg at about 5%). Dripping or the steeping really made a difference plus the atty I'm sure made a huge diff. Anyways, that flipped me around 180 now I'm a huge fan... will be trying some of the Cisco SR 306's soon... oh... LA Wintergreen (same mix) was delicious, still vaping it... it's like gum in my lungs. Just thought I'd share with everybody, this is def my new way to vape as I have no leak problems (just 2-4 drops till the vape goes down or taste starts burning), right around 4v makes me happy, taste is night/day difference (even my gf said theyre more distinguishable in taste now, she said they all had the same taste... prolly from the flavor staining), and vape/throat hit are spot on. Anybody else wanna chime in?

I've used the Twist with a variety of attys, with drip shield and drip tip.

My favorite is my DIY espresso blend on a cisco 306lr atty and the Cannon drip tip, but I've used the Vapage universal (gold) and other hybrid no bridge atty (silver) as well.

For sampling, DaveP is right - you want a higher ohmed atty - I probably wouldn't go to 3Ω but 2.4-2.6Ω will give you a good range with the Twist. Vape some pure PG or PG/VG mix to clean out the flavors after sampling. That said menthol and cinnamon and any of the 'hot' flavors don't clean out well - however sometimes a strong coffee or espresso ejuice can clean those flavors - not always though.

Hey Kent,

Thanks for the info, ya I REALLY wanted a 2.5 ohm... but unfortunately the vendor I went through was the only one who had EVERYTHING I was looking for, so I sucked it up and started with a 1.5 and 3 as thats all they had... I think I'm really impressed with the 3 but I'll prolly buy several 2.5 ohm 306 attys. I'll have to get some espresso/coffee flavors as I haven't tried them yet (blu made me hesitant on these as they were TERRIBLE when I started vaping). I usually just run some hot water through them and like Dave said burn them a few times (is there supposed to be like a REALLY THIN looking wick in the joye 306 attys? Cuz I think I see one, never really taste it tho). Haven't seen it glow red yet like the standard ego attys tho. Anyways, hopefully others are getting some good info... figured Ive spent enough hours reading this forum I should prolly contribute a lil.

Try BWB Espresso (sometimes I put in a drop of their cappuccino too) and Decadent Vapours Doppio Espresso. That may be available at liberty flights.... it's a combination of those three - easy on the capp. that I use, and at one point, I had tried every coffee ejuice that was available. There are 'newer' ones now, but I found the ticket for me. It really couldn't be any better....for me. I DIY it with VG and VG nic base. Clouds of vapor and one of the few flavors around here where others can smell it. Hilton is another.

You'll do well with the 1.5 and 3 though.

btw, the BWB ejuices sometimes need steeping. The only ejuices I know that it's sometimes necessary. The espresso unsteeped tastes like 'coffee paper' - it loses the paper after steeping. So don't let that fool you if you try it. The capp. doesn't need steeped, nor does the DV espresso.
