I am proud to be one of those CPUs but I feel that my first WU may expire before I can finish it. I got a rather large WU with a 3.62 day preferred delivery and a 7.85 day deadline. After almost two full days of running 24 hrs I am only 29.73% complete. Not sure my PC can finish it in time. I hope my next one comes in a little smaller. I really want to contribute to this as I see the potential and want to be a part of it rather than a hinderance.

Right with you xander. I set up the software on the morning of the 6th, and just timed out on my project with only 75% completed after 5+ days :( . I thought for sure it would go get a different one, but nope, restarted the same project. I think I'm going to have to uninstall before I wreck someone's research. :( Was looking forward to helping, too. :(

That was my thought. I would hate to wreck research because of my PC power. I want to help and further the cause. I really hope that I get a different WU if this one times out.

I failed 2 or 3 from one project. They were giant, 7+ days to complete ones. So now they're sending me smaller ones that only take a day or three to do, for the most part. Just keep trying, they'll send the packet to someone else.

Each Work Unit is being worked on by Many computers. The more times the same result is presented, the more certain they can be that it is the correct result. This built in redundancy eliminates the possibility of one computer affecting a result.

The Work Unit is assigned after calculating your resources to complete it. If anything changes, (processor availability, bandwidth availability, etc.) it can throw that calculation off. It will eventually assign units that can be completed. It's not something you are in control of. We are basically just passengers. Enjoy the ride!

We are a Team! We carry the load together.

you wont ruin anything it just reassigns the work to someone else (you in this case).

if the second time times out also - Please post in the main F@H forum and we will help find out whats going on with the way you are set up inside the program,, just a setback, dont worry we will get ya going. :)

tm - approximately, yes. There is a setting in the config for how often you want the data saved - it is defaulted at 15min, so if you haven't changed that, the most you would lose would be 14 min. of data :)

Thanks Paislia. I found out the hard way this morning. I got the blue screen of death and had to shut my PC down and start it up again and FAH started up where it left off minus a couple % of progress. Thank god because I've been working on this project now for almost a week.

I should be breaking into the 100K range sometime early this morning.. WooHooooo!!!

Dusty,

Man, you have to have a nice folding farm going as your numbers have bounced up like me after chaining 24mg juice for 15 minutes.
Now if we can get a e-Cig to do calculations while we vape we could really see some results. :)

I've made it into the top 30 but movement into the top 10 will take some time. I have more equipment to bring on but nothing that would really push my numbers faster.
