I believe you may be mistaken as 106 gigs of available disk space sounds reasonable. Memory is different than disk space.
Disk space is for storage and memory is for calculations. Memory would normally be 1-8GB total but that's irrelevant to my original assessment.
I hope you still don't have the case off of your PC. The case needs to be on typically to cause air movement in the proper areas.

Maybe you don't have any issue and the problems you've seen are just random events. If you continue to see freezes or BSODs then you might want to have your system reviewed by a professional.

You're right about the memory. I was looking in the wrong place. I have 2 gigs of memory with 865mb available.

I'm way past due for a reformat but I hate to do that so I've procrastinated. My system has been running fine all along so why fix what isn't broke. That's what I use to justify putting it off. :p

Well it might not be broken. I just relayed experience. For Windows XP 2GB of memory is fine. Anything more modern than that would really do much better with at least double that amount of memory. Vista is a memory hog and Windows 7 is awesome but does run smoother on 4GB. As much as people love to hammer Windows over BSOD and crashes, those things are part of the past as far I am concerned. It is rare for me to see one unless there is an odd ball driver loaded or something in the PC is going south.

Take care.

I just checked my log and there was a new entry.

01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Resuming from checkpoint
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.log
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.trr
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.xtc
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.edr
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Completed 3046036 out of 7000000 steps (43%)
02:49:12:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Completed 3080000 out of 7000000 steps (44%)

It seems my status or progress bar is lying. It's not at 99.99%....it's at 44% where I would expect it to be at the rate it's been going this past week.

It took a week to get to 43% which is about right according to ETA est of 15 days to complete.

When I rebooted, it resumed at about 43% and then just took off and progressed to 99.99% in 14 mins then seemed to stop. There has been no logging since then and no error msgs. My CPU is still running at 100% with the fan quiet so it's doing something. Patience is not one of my virtues but I will wait. :p

You must learn this "Patience", Grasshoppa' Lol

I think you have shown an amazing amount of patience!!

I asked the following question at F@H:

In trying to put my user id# in a signature banner I found that when I searched for myself - there were no results on the page. I can see myself within my team #223274 but when I search the F@H site for my name there's no data.

They responded that I check out this:

Q: Why don't we have user (individual) stats?
A: Individual stats are added when the team rank reaches at least 800. It is possible for individuals to be added sooner if the team's rank is at least 1,200 AND their rank has gone up by at least 5 spots in the last 7 days. So the more active teams get their users' added sooner.

So I wasn't nuts trying to figure out my "user #"......oh well, no stat banner for me I guess - at least not now.

Terry, when was the last time you defragged? You might want to do a disk clean up and defrag once your monster fold gets done :)

I download and delete a lot of stuff so I defrag at least once a week. I really need to stuff another 2gb of memory in to my desktop too.

I defraged about a week ago and run a program that cleans the junk from my HD & registry frequently. I need more memory also but until now it hasn't been necessary.

Hey I tried the link that went to the ECF Folding Title but since I think Sarge moved the forum/thread it's not locating it..

[Edit] Since a sub-forum was created Sarge has it listed as one of the Stickies here now :)

For those trying to hit the ECF F@H Title request linked earlier in the thread it's now HERE

Thanks for the link. I've been trying to find it for a while, but never can remember where to go. (Oh I left myself sooo open on that one. Please be kind.)

Update: My progress bar decided to behave itself during the night. It went for 99.99% complete to 49% complete. Whew!

To summarize what happened...
I got the blue screen of death at somewhere around 40% complete. The same day my system froze up. Both times I had to power off my PC/desktop. FAH resumed where it left off but instead of saying that I had 9 days to go it said it had 14 mins to go and the progress bar went from 40 some % to 99.99% and just sat there for hours. CPU was still running at 100% so I knew it was doing something. I left it alone at this point. Overnight the progress bar reset and showed 49% which is about right and 6 days to go which is also about right.

I hope this helps anyone else that might have this problem.

Tmcase you might be able to get a big smp ppd boost with a cpu upgrade,i know you said you have a pentium4 in your dell, but do you know if you have socket 478 or lga 775?.If you have the lga 775 you might be able to update your cpu to a core 2 duo or a core 2 quad, they are real cheap on ebay these days.

Don't think you're going to have to do that tmcase. It seems to recover pretty well. Give it some time to find it's feet.. or reboot again, and see if it sorts itself out.

I'm more concerned with your Blue Screen and freeze up. Hopefully not indicative of an overheating processor core.

That would be my thought. I was telling friends in a thread I'm normally in that if they help out they need to make sure their fans are clear of dust and working properly or that could happen. If it wasn't for the liquid cooling I would be afraid to leave the client open for too long.

This is such a huge project that I hate to do that. I'll give it some time first.

I read somewhere in the facts last night that if a wu goes long enough without being completed the main server will basically write it up as a loss and send it to a different machine and it will remove it from your client next time to start it up. Perhaps this has happened and the client didn't update.

There's a few bugs with the client. Mine seems to run 3 at once but, when I woke up it was only running one. I paused it and then resumed and it downloaded another 2.

Edit: Feel free to disregard as you figured out the problem lol.
