Here's a strange one for you experts. I got the blue screen of death today and had to power off. Then a few hours later my PC locked up for some reason I am clueless about. I had to power off again. Both times my project resumed where it left off. My project is a 15 day pig and it was at 7 days remaining and 42% complete before my PC barfed. When my system came back up my project went into warp speed. ETA was 14 mins. Around 14 mins later it was at 99.99% complete where it has been sitting now for about 30 minutes. I don't understand what happened nor do I understand what's going to happen. I'm afraid that it's going to start all over again from square 1 or worse locked up. :(

Question, I have downloaded and quickly ran the program. At the top it says my identity and team number (ours) but, when I click on my name it shows me that I'm working on 4 different teams, none of which is ecf. If I click on the team number at the top though it takes me to our team page. I've click on a few of the names in our group and it shows all their work going to this team so I'm not sure what is going on, any thoughts?

This could just mean that there are other users called kmh out there.. I don't think it requires any email addy or something to associate with you. You will not see our team number show up until it registers atleast 1 Work Unit in your name. If you just started, it may not be until tomorrow or so.

If you have ever folded for another team, it will show under your name but it will show the last date you sent a WU in for that team. Once you complete a WU for TeamECF, TeamECF will show under your name also.

Completed WUs stay with the team you completed them for. They will not transfer over to your current team.

I need some advice. I quit the program because it looked like it was stuck and when I started it up again it resumed at 42% progress with 14 mins to go again. Then stopped at 99.99% complete. Am I going to have to uninstall and start over? :(

Don't think you're going to have to do that tmcase. It seems to recover pretty well. Give it some time to find it's feet.. or reboot again, and see if it sorts itself out.

I'm more concerned with your Blue Screen and freeze up. Hopefully not indicative of an overheating processor core.

Terry, I think that WU got messed up when your computer froze so fah didn't get shut down correctly. Try letting it continue and see what's happens. It just might correct itself.

Also try looking at the FAQs over there to see how to get rid of a messed up WU. I'll check too and see if I can find anything.

Open the program and Request a passkey then you will only see your points to this team and you will get more points.

Yes, that concerns me too but the fan isn't running full speed now so hopefully that's not the problem. The problems did start about a wk after installing this program though.

Don't delete your folder give it some time to finish up,mine does the same thing from time to time, sucks to look at 99.99% :p

I'm not going to delete anything but it's good to know that this has happened before and has completed.

Here is more info from my log:

01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Resuming from checkpoint
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.log
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.trr
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.xtc
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Verified 00/wudata_01.edr
01:05:18:WU00:FS00:0xa4:Completed 3046036 out of 7000000 steps (43%)

It took a week to get to 43% which is about right according to ETA est of 15 days to complete.

When I rebooted, it resumed at about 43% and then just took off and progressed to 99.99% in 14 mins then seemed to stop. There has been no logging since then and no error msgs. My CPU is still running at 100% with the fan quiet so it's doing something. Patiences in not one of my virtues but I will wait. :p

tmcase,

In my experience you may be having one of a few issues. As the F@H client really pushes the computer it can expose underlying issues.
From what you have described it could be any one of the following:
1. memory failing
2. weak or failing power supply
3. overheating

The easiest thing to do is to check for overheating problems. If it is a PC case then open it up and blow out the heat sinks and clean up the fans. If it is a memory problem you can run one of several memory test programs. Google memory testing and you should find something that can do that. As for the PSU failing, that can be more difficult to diagnose but by eliminating the first two you can speculate from there.

1) I have 106gigs of available memory according to task manager while FAH is running.
2) Possible, I have no way of knowing.
3) I have the cover off the tower and had blown out all the dust days ago. It doesn't feel warm inside.

I believe you may be mistaken as 106 gigs of available disk space sounds reasonable. Memory is different than disk space.
Disk space is for storage and memory is for calculations. Memory would normally be 1-8GB total but that's irrelevant to my original assessment.
I hope you still don't have the case off of your PC. The case needs to be on typically to cause air movement in the proper areas.

Maybe you don't have any issue and the problems you've seen are just random events. If you continue to see freezes or BSODs then you might want to have your system reviewed by a professional.
