Is your fan running full blast? It doesn't seem like just leaving your pc on 24/7 would use up that much electricity. I could be wrong because I don't pay for electricity so I have nothing to compare.

Can't say that I blame you. When I used to do it - I stopped for the same reason, plus a bit of selfishness. I felt (back then) that since I was using my hardware plus paying out of pocket to fold, and not receiving anything in return, that I should stop. That was then, though.

Dusty, I can't really give a firm comparison, hubby and I live with his mother since he got laid off 3 years ago. Mumsie is the type who goes bonkers if her bill has an extra dollar on it. For the first 2 weeks of folding I was running all 4 processors at 100%, 24/7...and I have a 1k watt power supply. Add hubby's same rig set up, folding on 2 cores. I think the bill was about $20 more.

Lol Sashwa! We have natural gas heat, so that won't work! Nice try tho

Woot made the top 20 producers list....15,331 24hr avg. This weekends project is to finally get box 2 put together and running. I had to remove my GPU because it just refuses to fold...stupid POS Radeon 6950 OC 2 gb edition

Just found out about this today and have it installed and running. My computers first job is on Alzheimer's and that makes me happy. Lost a grandfather to it, grandmother has it and a few people I know have family members with it. I think this is a great way to help.

Yay!!! Top 25 in 6 days, and dropped my last WU yesterday morning so I think all is finally STABLE. May actually start seeing the estimated PPD of 60k. 38k more due in about 9 hours. And we are about to break into the Top 800, way to go team!!!! And WE are number 66 as far as this weeks production goes!!! Team ECF you make me proud to wear the badge

Nice. I tried doing some folding with the console client v6, smp & big... can't remember the flag but all it did was cause my WU's to restart after ~50% and kept saying "Change in settings detected" so I assume it's my OC... stable with prime for 48 hours but doesn't like folding with hyper threading enabled.

Hey loft, based on that message.. were you by any chance making and applying changes while it was still folding? Or did you have the current WU paused while doing it?

quick question, got my son 2x gtx550ti video cards to run SLI for his gaming computer, but his motherboard (MSI970a-g45) wont support SLI all we can run is physx on the 2nd card.

we are going to upgrade to an ASUS sabertooth z77 soon but till then are there any work arounds so that he can get the most out of what he's got?

Nah wasn't making changes or anything. Was just sitting back and watching it. I've switched back to fahcontrol 7 and am using six threads on smp. Increased my ppd from 13k to 20k. Was hoping 25-30k but I have to redo my oc now cuz it was originally done without hyperthreading. Had to lower the cpu clock to make it stable. We will see... Tomorrow is reconfig and testing day. If I'm not happy with the results it will be time to upgrade lol
