Seriously... I need to start paying attention... another WU lost due to stupidity. I was rushing earlier due to being mad... and set my fah directory as being owned by root (sudo is not your friend...). So my script, being set to start fah as loft... wasn't running the client. Found this out tonight when the power went out.

Triple checked everything. We are live, now... finally... holy hell.

Wow, I seriously hope I don't lose my WU. Im very new to all this, and some of this tech talk is way over my head. Give me some time, and I'll start to pick it up. My WU is up to 35% in just 10hrs, is that a decent pace?

If you're using the latest windows client it's possible to lose wu's by playing with the slider but it's not consistent.

I'm messing around on Linux with this. Sad part is I haven't used Linux much in the last 10 years so I need a refresher, lol

I just noticed that our anonymous stalker folder is now in my rear-view mirror having taken over second place. Still no sign of him/her on here huh?! I've got a potential 1.5 week before they blow past me.

I don't understand the anonymity or the mentality of that user, but I'll say it again, I'm not happy with the lack of respect that their userid displays and as such I for one am not going to acknowledge their effort until they change their name to either their ECF name, or one that is not as rude. To me, they are NOT a member of this team based on the characteristics they are displaying.

Rant over!

I am at the exact opposite end of the spectrum!

Obviously, from the amount of resources available to him, Bill Gates has decided to help our Team score some points. I welcome him!

I could care less what name they choose to call themselves and I refuse to join any pose that wishes to take the mask off of a Lone Ranger. Full disclosure was not a condition of joining the Team. We were given permission to choose any user name and I can see the humor in the name they have chosen. I enjoy having a sense of Humor!

My laptop and I appreciate Dusty's contribution and Loft is going way beyond to score points for the Team, but it is for the Team! Thanks Guys!

Keep Calm
and
Relax, Enjoy!

I do appreciate the effort they are putting in, and have praised them for it. Would love to do it in person too and have them be an active participant on here. But, you're right! I am perhaps letting the wrong thing affect our team effort. Thank you for setting me straight X !

Wait what?

If you want to change the slider that tells your computer what percentage of the processing power to use, you need to click "finish", wait until the WU it's already chewing on to be done, change the slider, then restart your folding :) Changing it mid WU can cause it to fail.

That sucks, cause yesterday I had to slide it off at 7% to write and turn in an essay. I put it back to 100% when I was done, and right now it's at 75%. Are you saying that it might still fail once the WU is finished? Cause that would be a travesty.

He did say it was inconsistent. Anecdotally I've slid mine to off a few times and all my work units went through. I also slide it to off before I reboot because I don't want Windows forcing it off. But I didn't know about the issue and maybe I was just lucky.
Using Windows 7 64.

Then maybe I'll get lucky too, cause I have the same setup.

Any advantage to using the latest version vs 7.29? I think I've got the 7.29 on about 30 computers or so.. We don't need to change/update the software periodically do we? I'd die if I had to track down and re-do the PC's I've setup the software on. :)

No point in changing right now. They really are just an overlay. There's approximately a 5% TPF loss using the newest client (I haven't bothered looking into why) but they both use the same cores to process the information. If there is a change to the cores the client will automatically update them.

So this morning I tried to update the kernel on my *nix box... and I couldn't. The kernel is unavailable through Ubuntu repo's and it wouldn't load through the other repo I have. ...! Definitely changing distros when this WU is done...

It is very inconsistent. I've experienced it once (then went back to 7.2.x) and I've read a few reports on other forums. I have no other details as to why it happens cuz I went back to the older client.
