Got my Boge Leo...taste a bit different...but I'm determined. Can't seem to get a tobacco flavor that stops me from reaching for that analog. I'm getting angry at myself! I only take a few drags from analog. They taste NASTY! BUT im irritable with everyone if I don't. Not sure if its mental or Im not getting enough nicotine. I must have non-absorbing skin...I spill it on me...and drip it in my mouth but I still want that analog after 3 days of vaping! Thought I read somewhere on here while I was lurking. ...:) that there was something else you could do to that would help. Im frustrated....sorry! Any advice greatly appreciated.

Sorry you are having a tough time of it.

Well you can change eliquid flavor. BackwoodsBrew.net's Casablanca does it for me. FreedomSmokesUSA.com has purecig and Wyatt Earp that taste kind of like ashtrays.

You can up your nicotine level when you have strong urges.

Or since you are only on day 3, just have the dang cigarette. Many of us didn't quit in a day, we cut back until the point we didn't want a cigarette because we were vaping something much better. Remember every cigarette you don't smoke is a win.

What eliquid and strength are you vaping? Do you have to quit cold turkey for some reason?

Research SNUS if nothing else works.

First, congratulations on your decision to start vaping. :) It takes about a week for your body to get rid of the toxins that are in cigarettes. From the sounds of it, you may need a higher dose of nicotine. If you're using 18mg, try the 24mg to see if your cravings subside. If not, some vendors sell nicotine as high as 36mg. You'll have to experiment to see what works.

In the meantime, don't beat yourself up if you need an analog. There are many people in this forum who still need analogs (especially when they start out), so you're not alone.

Be gentle with yourself.

Although many users share remarkable success stories about turning away from analogs, it's unreasonable to expect stopping a firmly established habit overnight.

Don't negate the progress you're making by trying to achieve an illusory standard. When you're ready to drop analogs completely, you will.
Until then, don't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy your vaping experience and allow whatever change there is to occur happen naturally.

Well....my ejuices seemed to strong at first... So I cut them to 12 mg with VG from Walmart. I was coughing and afraid I was killing myself with nicotine. Plus Im trying to help my Mom too...she can barely walk 20 ft without huffing but refuses to give up analogs. No I dont have to quit cold turkey....but Im trying to encourage her. I bought her a Metro first....then after lurking on here I became mentally addicted to vaping :) I have to quit to help her...Got to find that TASTE that works for her -even more than me. She smokes Winston Lights 100s but the Dekang Wenaton isnt stopiing her. I have Virginia and Ry4 as well. Ordered several from Awesome Vapors...waiting on them. ..As well as the new D deluxe by Dekang. I feel pressured. ...To hurry and find her that Right flavor. Shes healthy as a horse -except for her lungs!

Not everyone quits their first day vaping;-) Find a vape you enjoy, use both. Eventually you will vape more and smoke less. You will reach a point it becomes much easier to just cut out those last few cigs. As far as coughing, it took me a bit to become used to vaping and I coughed a lot at first. I think too much Nic you'd be looking for things like racing/irregular heartbeat, headache, nausea, Dizziness, that sort of thing. (though I don't claim to be an expert)

I smoked Winston light 100s and I liked Dunhill from myfreedomsmokes.com when I first switched. In fact, I loved Dunhill for the first few weeks. I also took about a week to completely forget to smoke an analog after I started vaping.

If your juice is too hard on your throat, try one with less PG/more VG, rather than try to make the switch with an underpowered juice. VG is much gentler on your throat.

Also, if you're still craving a stinky after getting comfortable with vaping, you might be one of the 15% or so addicted to one of the other components of cigarette smoke. Search WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids, I think) on the forum and there is some information about that. If that's the case, then snuss might be the thing that makes this doable for you.

But, most importantly, what the other posters said - relax and enjoy vaping and don't put so much pressure on yourself to do this in a day or two. If you light up a cigarette, don't beat yourself up over it. Congratulate yourself on how many you didn't light up.

+1 on everything said above ...

one of the tips quoted & re quoted is

that every time you WANT a cigarette ...
Vape for 10 mins first & if you still WANT one have one.
And sooner or later you won't WANT one anymore .

It also helps to keep your cigs in another room, make it a PITA to get to them.

It took me a while,maybe 2 weeks,to find the right equipt &
enough juice to be comfortable enough to not buy more cigs ...and just vape .

But really what you have posted sounds reasonable
ie: you don't sound TOTALLY hysterical......believe me I have been there.
So just try to be patient & go easy on yourself & It will happen .

Good LUCK & CONGRATS on your decision to VAPE !!:thumb:

In the beginning, I thought I'd freak if I didn't have analogs on hand so I bought a pack. And in the course of those first few days, I smoked it. But I realized I didn't enjoy it at all -- it just didn't taste good. And since I was vaping yummy flavors like chocolate, I liked vaping a lot more. I won't lie -- I still think about analogs. But the thoughts and temptation are very, very brief and have become very easy to resist. I'm now over 40 days without an analog and not feeling deprived.

What's made it SO much easier is that I love the fact that I can vape anywhere!!!!! No one bats an eye about it here in my city! I vape in stores, restaurants, at church events (lol), in medical offices, you name it! In the beginning, I'd always ask if it was OK but since no one has been anything short of accepting and positive about it, I've relaxed and just vape! I do keep an eye out in case anyone might be bothered by it but no one seems to give it a second thought. Yay!!!

I think that as you settle into vaping and enjoy all of the positives, your desire for cigs will simply keep decreasing. As everyone else said, don't put pressure on yourself! The more positive the experience can be, the more success you'll have, I think! Feel good about the fact that you're already on the right path!

I would say try vaping 36mg Nic,For me thats the only thing that helped me not crave,Its really strong its such high nic level that it numbs your month and after a whole day of 36mg you have no flavor left in your mouth,But i must warn you its very easy to over dose of 36mg.and thats not nice trust me,Every time you have a craving just take 5 hits of 36mg and you should be able to get through it.Once i started 36mg i had no cravings.

Personally, I didn't feel satisfied until I went to a higher voltage device. Increasing my nic just made me feel sick with as often as I wanted to vape. You could try a cheap variable volt box mod from madvapes to see if that helps you. The atty that gives me the closest to analog feel is the ikenvape cannon. Recently i've been using a carto tank and am very surprised how happy I am with it. It takes some time, but eventually you will find the right combo that works for you. The right nic level + the right juice + right voltage + right device. Remember, stressing yourself out over quitting will drive you backwards. Good luck!

If you are still on 12mg I would definitely get some 24mg and just use it when you feel you can't resist the analogs anymore.
That being said, don't expect to quit analogs cold turkey just because you are vaping. It will be better or easier for your body
to purge its self once you quit analogs all together, but many vapers still have the occasional cigarette for months after they
started vaping.

Another thing to consider is your frame of mind. Don't think of e-cigs as a complete replacement for analogs, but rather,
as a crutch to help you resist cigarettes long enough for your body to get over all the other chems in cigs.
It is widely accepted that it is more than just nicotine we are addicted to. You might want to consider swedish snuss.
It is not as harsh or dangerous as dip and contains some of the other chems we are addicted to.

One last thing to consider is, if you are craving more than nicotine, you may be frustrating your body by providing the
smells and taste of tobacco but not the extra chems it craves. You need to help cut out the associations your body has
with tobacco. Is there a candy, mint, or gum that you use for those times when you couldn't smoke? Something, that
helped to distract you from your cravings? Try to find a nic juice in that flavor and see if that helps you resist the cravings.

I was able to quit analogs completely after only 3 days, but there were many moments when the craving was really strong.
I believe my addiction was more about the ritual of smoking than the actual nicotine. I was a PAD smoker, but 95% of that
pack was smoked in the evening while watching tv or on the computer. During the day, while my hands and mind were
occupied, I didn't really crave a cigarette. I also really believe that my mind set about e-cigs helped me to "resist" my
cravings, not replace them.

Lotsa good information here (BTW, welcome, Vaporlass).

Some people cough when they start vaping - I did. First vape of the day was particularly rough - it goes away. A Nicotrol inhaler will *still* make me cough.

12mg nic may not be enough for you - it's not enough for a lot of people starting out ;)

Technique. Smoking gets the nicotine into your system a lot faster than vaping does, so if you vape the same way you smoked you're probably not getting anywhere near the effect you got from smoking. The harder you draw on an e-cig the *less* nicotine you get. Long, slow draws are the ticket here.

Hope this helps -

Definitely don't beat yourself up over smoking a cigarette, it just doesn't help.
I did things similar to what kelleymcm said.
Keep the cigarettes far away from you, in another room, in a cupboard, just out of sight and out of immediate reach.
Keep the pv with you all the time.
If you are desperately craving a cig, vape for 5 to 10 minutes 1st and if that doesn't kill the craving then go ahead and have a cigarette, and don't feel guilty about it.
And maybe instead of calling it quitting, why not look at it like you are switching from smoking to vaping. Sometimes changing the wording of the goal can help it come about easier and keep the pressure to quit from being the main thought when you are vaping.
And as for the tobacco flavors, they are not your only option.
I figured that is what I would need at 1st too, but it really didn't keep me away from cigarettes.
Try other flavors. Do you or your mom have a favorite fruit? gum? candy? coffee/coffee drink? dessert? It's all out there plus many, many more. Get a few samples sizes from different vendors to see what you might like. I would also recommend keeping some higher nic juice, like 24mg, around for those times when the cravings are the worst.
Everyone has their own way of doing things. You just have to find what works and makes things easiest for you and for your mom. And you'll figure out what those things are as you go.
You've already taken huge steps towards your switch to vaping. Just relax a little, you will make it!

I would suggest upping the nicotine level and/or trying some strong non-tobacco flavors like coffee, peppermint, black licorice, atomic cinnacide and other strong flavors. The liquids don't do a very good job of duplicating tobacco flavors but they've nailed a lot of non-tobacco ones. I used Virginia and Parliament in the beginning but quickly switched to non-tobacco flavors. Nowadays I vape primary coffee. You need to find a juice and a nic level that work for you.

Get a higher nicotine and increase the VG. The juice won't taste as harsh but you'll be getting the increased nicotine that you might need. I had some high nicotine peach juice around for when I was craving a cig.

It helped me that I was rolling my own which was a PITA and I didn't especially like them. Don't buy your favorite brand. Also, don't pressure yourself. I never intended to quit, it just sorta happened.

Relax and find a juice you like, it'll happen.

I'm still having trouble with that morning cigarette :( I really want a real one with my coffee... I'm down to less than three analogs a day from about 15 so I consider that pretty good! Also I felt awful the first week, like I had the flu, I think it was detox, because I'm feeling much better now :) You shouldn't feel bad about having a smoke here and there, if you're smoking less thats good!

Any time you want an analogy make yourself get up and go outside, down to the end of your drive. That is the only place you are allowed to smoke. Now remember you can vape sitting in your most comfy chair any time. Give it a try worked for my friend, her drive is about 1/4 mile long. Extreme I know but still might work for you. And as the rest have stated don't beat yourself up it took time to become a smoker takes time to kick it.
