This is my 5th post so I'll be graduating and I need some help before I go. Here's what *think* I know. Correct me if I'm wrong and feel free to add to it.
I have a protank 2 and a Kanger1000 evod pass through battery.
*Is the protank called the clearomizer or is that and the battery together considered the clearomizer?
*The atomizer consists of a coil, a silica wick and an o ring that can all be exchanged out.
*My atomizer is a 2.2 but I've heard that 1.8 is better. Why is that?
* I can exchange the wick with pieces of cotton balls if I choose to, though I don't know the benefits.
*Should I change the wick when switching flavors? I rotate flavors often but I've never done that.
I think that's it, what else should I know?

Yes, the Protank II is the clearo.
Yes, the atomizer is the head or coil and is rebuildable on the PT II. Cotton is MUCH better than silica. Pop over to youtube, there's a ton of vids on how to clean and rewick them.
The Ohms (1.8 vs 2.2) is a matter of taste. One is not better than the other.
You don't have to change out the wick when changing flavors. I would recommend putting in a new head and cleaning the one you just removed. Ideally, have several tanks with different flavors, variety is the spice of life!!

Hi and welcome :)

The clearomizer is just the part that holds the liquid.
The atomizer is the part that heats the liquid, the wick is what draws the liquid to the coil (atomizer). Wick and coil together is called the 'head'.

Whether 2.2 is better or not than 1.8 is dependent on several factors. I personally like 2.4. It really depends on how cool or warm you prefer your vapor. That is something you will have to experiment with.

Cotton vs silica is a matter of personal preference. Also something you can experiment with. I have to say it is hard, for me anyway, to do this. It's TINY in there!

If you use same flavor profiles, you could get away with just refilling. Best is to rinse and let dry then change flavor. That's why most people have a few clearo's on hand.

I hope that helped somewhat

Good reply BigCatDaddy.

Can you rebuild the PT coil with cotton? Yes, but IMHO its not ideal as the area is just very small for cotton wicking (Just my opinion!)

Some folks swear by cotton in terms of the clean flavor and I would not argue that, but I think that cotton can be a "pita" in terms of fouling up pretty quick compared to silica.

If I am going to use cotton wick I prefer to do that with a rebuild able, not a pro tank.

I'm not familiar with your battery so just generally: TH is going to depend on not only the ohms resistance of your atty (2.4) but the volts going to it from your battery. For instance, if the voltage you're vaping at is 3.3 compared to 3.7, the 2.4 ohms will give a lighter TH, 3.7 volts a stronger one. Trying to say here that you can't say what TH will be without considering voltage along with ohms. 2.4 ohms at 3.7 volts will give more TH and dropping to 1.8 ohms will give an even stronger one at 3.7 volts. 1.8 ohms at 3.3 volts should be very similar to 2.4 ohms at 3.7 volts. Hope that's not too confusing... in time it will be second nature to you.

Sara, I know you will get some good answers to your questions here. But you don't have to graduate and "leave" the newcomers forum when you have 5 posts. You can still post your questions here. The 5 posts means you are free to post elsewhere, too. I think you can still keep posting threads in newcomers for about 60 or 70 threads. Then you can still read posts here, just not start them.

Good luck!
