I don't count EM as part of the %.... and yes I use EM in most of my mixes same goes to Tart & Sour....

so it is in addition to the regular percentage?

I know a lot of people regularly use EM.

Is there a general rule as to when someone would use it? say with sweets and fruits?

I only use EM when my juice is too tarty or too harsh. EM tones down those 2 things and adds a little sweetness. It only takes a drop or 2 depending on how big your batch is. For a 3ml - 5ml batch I would try just 1 drop and I usually will add it after I've mixed my juice because it's when tasting it I know if I need it or not.

Today's attempts.

I upped a previous attempt that I made at 15% to 20%

The others I chose a average of 15% because they were capellas.

The one PA waffle was made at 20%

I still have no idea how to adjust in a way that works for me. I guess for now I'm stuck making batches and tossing them if they totally fail.

You might try combining a couple of failures together and coming up with a new flavor you like. LOL!

It looks like you're doing it right. If it's too weak up the percentage, too strong lower the percentage. You might try upping or lowering in smaller percentages. Like if 15% is too weak, up it to 17% instead of 20%.

I want to hear how that turns out for you. :vapor:

I'll definitely keep in touch.

I'm going to update this thread too as there are people like me that I think would benefit from the information.

I did like the lmp before but the flavor was not quite enough for me. It might have been better with steeping too.

I mixed up a batch of capella's sweet strawberry @15% and then I upped the flavor by 1% increments until I got to around 25%. I really couldn't tell any difference in the strrawberriness of it so I scrapped it and started over. The next time I let it sit for a few days, in between testings, before I made a descision. I am now vaping a juice that is 13% strawberry and it actually tastes like a strawberry. I made 10mls to start with and added 2 drops of em and lemon juice (this helps). It's 70%pg and 30%vg @ 30mgs of nic.

Strawberry is my favorite flavor so I'm curious about what the lemon juice does for it. Are you talking about the lemon juice that you buy in a grocery store? 2 drops of lemon juice?

About the Capella's and really any flavoring don't make a decision if that 15% is too much or too little until you've let it sit for a few days. It's hard to do but really a good thing because the initial flavor is not the flavor it might be a week from now---in fact I've found it is seldom is the same. Its often times stronger tasting because flavors and have had time to meld.

The percentages required of flavorings will vary from person to person-- tastebuds and how high VG you use. I am sure this has all been said before I have not read the entire thread. If you vape high VG or all VG you will need a higher percentage of flavoring than if you vape high PG.

Would you consider 50% VG a high percentage? Thanks

Yes just plain old lemon juice. When I did my 10ml mix @ 13% it was almost where I wanted it. I read on a different thread here that lemon juice can bring out the flavor in a fruit liquid, so I added a drop then another and it was better, sharper, if that makes any sense.

So you added the lemon juice after you made the batch rather than calculating it in with the other ingredients. Correct?

Lemon juice is citric acid and lots of us have been using one or the other in our mixes. Will brighten up most any juice but works especially well with the fruits. Another great add-in is the Lorann's Tart & Sour, it is citric & malic acid together and would be used in place of just citric. Typically this stuff is added to finished liquids at 1 to 2 drops per 5ml.

so what percentage of lemon juice will someone usually use?

Is it better with some fruits and not others?
