There will always be that group of people who want to push the limits. Did you talk about how unsafe it was for the guy to parachute from space? It's all about personal preference. I am not encouraging anybody to jump into sub-ohm vaping. I am simply suggesting they do the research on their own and make a decision based on their research and how they feel. Sub-ohm vaping isn't for everybody, but I would hate to see someone get discouraged because they decided to take an opinion from someone who doesn't prefer it.

The guy who jumped from space would of had zero impact on my life if his parachute didnt open. But when PV's start to explode because more and more noobs are jumping into sub ohms without a clue about what they are doing and when the FDA and other countries decide to ban e-cigarettes because of their safety issues. I will be .......

Call me selfish!

You've been making completely valid points. I completely agree that sub-ohm vaping requires a bit of education first.

Did OP's B&M do something irresponsible? Absolutely.

Is OP in any immediate danger? Maybe. (he/she hasn't replied for an hour or so, and they may be exploded.)

Am I going to stop sub-ohm vaping? No.

Well, for starters, I wouldn't be carrying my equipment in a wire-framed case.

I've also never experienced a misfire because I know that the thing(s) I'm carrying in my pockets are dangerous.

Also, recessed switch:

Nice, is that a Macaveli? or am I way off base?

Wow.Simply WOW.

Feel free to show the shop this thread. They need to know that cloud chasing isnt for everyone.

Set up correctly, you can "blow clouds" with a coil that isn't super low res.

I hope that shop has good insurance or attorneys. Setting up people new to mechs in this manner is a recipe for disaster.

That's actually a really good point.

I'm almost positive they don't insure against that sort of thing. Is it considered negligence?

If you can sue Mc Donalds because their coffee is to hot, I'm pretty sure that it wouldnt be that hard to convince a judge that setting up a coil for your customers that stresses the battery over the safety specification of the manufacturer is the exact definition of negligence.

If you like the way your setup is performing don't change because someone on a forum says there's a possibility that your face will get blown off. Most mods these days have ample venting if a short does occur. Just educate yourself and pay attention to your batteries performance. I run a dual coiled igo-w at 0.3 ohms on an El Kapitian mod. I did my research, asked questions at my local vape shop, and payed attention to my batteries performance while vaping, and I my mod has yet to get hot. The only part of my device that does get hot is the top cap of the atomizer which is from the chain vaping and the coils heating up.

Exactly. That's what I meant. The atomizer gets hot from vaping too much. Every shop that I've been to this is how they set them up. Thanks

To all... My battery does not get hot! I have a tight set up....so haters gonna hate. Peace

How do you know your setup is "tight"? Because some clown in a vape shop wanted your money and set you up with something completely unnecessary? Do you buy your liquid there also? Do you know that the setup burns through 3x more liquid, thus increasing this clown's revenue? Do you think he would visit you in the hospital when something goes wrong?
How often do you check your coils with a meter? How about your batteries? Do you know what a hard short is and what causes it? Do you even understand amps, watts, ohms and draw, an how all are related?

The indignant nature of many new users when experienced users offer valid and sound information just blows me away.
So, yes. I'm a hater. And I AM gonna hate.

Haha no i didn't explode, i'm still here.

Wow! This thread really took off after I went to bed last night. Happy to wake up to all this information and now there is much to research. I really appreciate everyone's thoughts. I'm heading out to get a multimeter today and I'm going to dismantle this 0.38 setup.

More info on what I was experiencing - not just the RDA, but the mod and especially the button were getting really hot. I read that the button is a known issue on the Private V2 until you swap out the stock spring which I did last night using a battery spring I cut from a box mod I built back in the day. Button is perfect now, barely gets warm, but I still feel like i have a pipe bomb in my hand and I'm kissing the fuse so for now I'm going to go back to the trusty 1.7 ohm 901 drip atty until I figure out how to wrap my own coils at a safe resistance.

Again, thank you everyone for your posts and for all the links to more info!

What is so hard to understand in the follwing recommendation:

DO NOT GO OVER THE MAXIUM DISCHARGE RATE OF YOUR BATTERY!

It's not me saying that! It's not a experienced ......... vendor saying that! IT'S THE ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO MAKES THE BATTERIES!!!

Now you are going to tell me that:

- No it's fine, that only apply to continuous discharge.

- I'm sorry but a 10 seconds long drag is pretty much a continuous discharge!
