Connect the red lead of the multimeter to the center pin (positive) of the atomizer and the black one to the body of the atomizer, that will give you the total resistance... If you get that 1 ohm you talked about earlier, you are fine.

Just curious, does it matter whether you put the positive lead on the pin and the negative on the body and not the other way around? Shouldn't the resistance be the same in either direction?

Also, if I don't hold the leads REALLY still, my number jumps around like mad when trying to measure. Is this because I have such a cheap multimeter, or is this a problem with higher end DMMs also? I guess my real question is whether this MM is really sufficient for a beginner looking into mechanical mods?

My multimeter does the same thing.

With multimeters is that usually there is a sharp point on the probe, and since the surface what you are testing usually isn't completely smooth, even the smallest movements can cause the number to jump. What I would recommend is using the shaft part of the probes and try to get them to contact the surface as much as possible without shorting (which would give you a very low resistance near 0). You can also try using the angled face of the probe.

On another note, it is shocking to me that shops build such low resistance coils for customers. I bought an RDA yesterday and since the shop does free builds, I decided why not to see how they do their builds, and if I didn't like the build I could just redo it myself. The result: the employee did a pretty fancy wick layout where the loops wrap around the screws and he seemed happy with his build when he handed it to me. When I was watching him do the build, he simply test fired it on his mod without any prior testing. I asked him what the resistance was, and he said he didn't know and grabbed a tester. I was shocked to see that the resistance of build was only 0.3 Ohms.

There will always be that group of people who want to push the limits. Did you talk about how unsafe it was for the guy to parachute from space? It's all about personal preference. I am not encouraging anybody to jump into sub-ohm vaping. I am simply suggesting they do the research on their own and make a decision based on their research and how they feel. Sub-ohm vaping isn't for everybody, but I would hate to see someone get discouraged because they decided to take an opinion from someone who doesn't prefer it.

Excellent perspective and point. Obviously the OP is doing some research and everyone has the Google Machine so it should be fine. Don't sit there and puff on it for extended periods of time without breathing oxygen.

I've gone 189mph, 200 is far too risky Steam Turbine.
