Connect the red lead of the multimeter to the center pin (positive) of the atomizer and the black one to the body of the atomizer, that will give you the total resistance... If you get that 1 ohm you talked about earlier, you are fine.
Just curious, does it matter whether you put the positive lead on the pin and the negative on the body and not the other way around? Shouldn't the resistance be the same in either direction?
Also, if I don't hold the leads REALLY still, my number jumps around like mad when trying to measure. Is this because I have such a cheap multimeter, or is this a problem with higher end DMMs also? I guess my real question is whether this MM is really sufficient for a beginner looking into mechanical mods?
