whatever Baditude says is always good.

I appreciate the mention, but srsly..Bad knows light years more about this than I probably ever will. HES BAD YO.

vaping takes a lot of dedication to get to that sweet spot, it seems like, but if you choose good stuff - AND nice juice - its not nearly the nightmare it used to be even 2 years ago. and I tried to get into it then and I just could *not* figure this stuff out!

Now, for OP : consider a pass-thru device too, its a USB powered widget that connects to a tank that lets you vape with NO battery at all...maybe 15 bucks for that. then you can use your battery while on the go.

one sucky thing about vaping is that folks enjoy the gear so they will get this mod, that tank and suddenly the've blown 300 bucks or more (way more).

one awesome thing about vaping is that you DONT have to do that, lol.

Ah, cheapest Protank II minis on the net (there is a mini version ONE and a version TWO..I suggest v.2)

Kanger Protank II mini - 101 Vape

but ill also warn ya: the stock heads (where the coils are) are kinda crappy. they will get gunked up after a few days or a week of vaping it up. <<<< hit my blog entry for a video by RiP Trippers about how to make new coils for the Kanger Mini Protank II. I also listed some of the tools I had to pile up to really make it easy on myself to redo those coils.

this: http://www.kidneypuncher.com/510-ohm-meter-model-1/

is also something you are going to need, unless you can borrow a NICE multi meter..you will 100% want to know exactly what resistance a rebuilt coil/head measures, so that you dont have battery issues with it. Too LOW of a resistance and you can damage your battery or yourself (aka Ka-Boom).

Too HIGH can also be bad, or even worse: crappy vapes. Its like Goldilocks - needs to be just right.

2.0-2.2 should be ideal for that mini head.

Now, if someone (anyone) who knows a bit more than me about this has some thoughts..PLEASE chime in because I dont want to give crappy advice and have someone get hurt or wasted gear because I didn't know something that I should have....seeriously...please guize :)

Yeah a friend recommended I get an ego and a pro tank. I just hate the thought of it dying after just one year. But it looks like the direction i'll be going.

Also, are usb passthroughs safe? I'm mostly stuck at home so something like this V looks very appealing to me

Variable voltage 510/eGo USB passthrough

Provari isn't really in my price range. Although It is something I can see myself having in the future.

Yes, they are safe, and sounds like a good start for you. It will last a long time, till the cord breaks. It will last longer than your interest in it, till you move on to bigger, better. But you also should get 2 ego VV batteries for the mobility. The passthrough is great, till you have to go to the bathroom, or work on your car, or go out drinking.:toast: (or in the boudoir, the bestest of all vaping experiences:wub:

These batteries go 300 charging cycles. Get 2 and they will go until Spring of 2015. By then, the new XXXX batteries will be out. Advances are with sodium, sulphur, viruses (yes, really!) and atomic! Or cells that recharge by movement or shaking.

As fast as tech is advancing, just invest in something for the next 18 to 24 months. Who knows, it might all be black market by then.

I will admit that I didn't read the entire thread but from what the OP asked for I would recommend a few ego twist batteries to start with while saving up for a Provari Mini. The Ego's will get you by while you save up. The Provari will last you forever once you get it. I dropped one of mine in dish water and fired it while wet. I sent it in to Provape and the repair was 10.00. The Provari really is a good device for someone who doesn't want to keep buying mod after mod. The company that makes it will treat you right. It seems like a bit upfront but in the end I believe it has saved me vast amounts of money. I was buying a new mod every month until I found it. Good luck no matter what you choose :)

Hi

If you go with an eGo, I highly recommend you make sure it is an authentic Joyetech. People seem to have fewer problems with the name brand, rather than the generics, which can be hit or miss. The same is true with a Spinner, you would want a Vision Spinner.

These are what the logos look like:

I started vaping with 2 Vision Spinners 1300mah, 2 evods, a Joye 510 atty and some juice. The spinners are still going strong after 5 months of heavy use and all I have to purchase is heads for the evods and juice. I just started using an MVP2 and love it. The battery lasts 2 days. I rotate the use of the batteries. The Myvaporstore kit is excellent and the 101vape for the MVP2 is a price you can not beat. Good luck.

oh wow, you found a nice passthru...hell I might get me one of those myself, for home vaping...oooo

an Ohm meter is for sure vital, this way you can experiment and if it reads 1.2 ohms, you know to redo that coil lol. Cuz once you fire that up on your batt its going to glow HOT and pretty much instantly too...really into the danger territory.

DO ask some of the bigger kids (of which I aint) about what resistance etc to build for a coil you want to do - im seriously new at this so consult the guys/gals that have been doing this a while. MAKE SURE lol.

but then you can get some 32 guage Kanthal wire (the A-1 stock, there are different kinds) and then choose a wick material: silica, cotton, or hemp fiber (I want to try hemp very soon).

I had a crappy time w/ silica, you need to push a pin down in it before you wrap and you probably wont be able to adjust the coils after you do, and it just shreds.

Cotton is more forgiving but you cant dry burn it..it goes POOF! and cooks. Thats one you just pull/redo.

Hemp seems really nice, duno if you can dry burn it (probably no) but its tough and should last a while.

Wholeheartedly agree about the ego 510 batteries. A good size to start off and many applications as far as tanks go. I wish I had bought several cartomizers instead of a 3 ml tank so I could change flavors throughout the day but a few boge's fixed that. Saving change now (determined to put the $ saved from analogs for my wife a gift) for extra tanks. Probably Kanger this time to mix it up a little. I learned how to recoil atomizers and they're identical between the Pro Tank 2 and the Davide.

Hi there...I saw you on another thread that was closed yesterday so I couldn't do a reply. I just wanted to tell you that you sure made a good decision with that Provari Mini. I have a silver one but just bought a black Mini and put a Lil Mama black-capped cartomizer tank on it and it's the best looking vape I've ever seen. I love my Provari more than all the others! I'm trying to find out about the Provari Passthrough now for someone who's in the car a lot on her job. I would just guess it's a great one because in general, to me at least, Provari is the best hands down! Enjoy your new vape!!!
