I wasn't really worried about the money. If I didn't have it to spend I would have never bought it in the first place. I also knew if I didn't like it I could sell it on here or other sites and get full retail out of it.

Yes, as I recall, this was precisely what was suggested to you in the reo subforum - the 'no risk' investment. Another reason in support of giving the reo a shot in my book. As a happy side effect, your former reo is in a good home and the purchaser is loving it (she's a regular in the sub).

Glad you've found what you like.

If you think like that almost any mod you purchase can be turned around in a few days for near the same price you paid for it. :)

Sure, but 2 year old reos still hold that value. Not sayin' others don't, but not many do. OP wanted to know why to get a reo - this is another reason, s'all.

In your case, the reo you didn't like is loved by someone else. That's life and choices, I suppose. All good.

One thing about the reo is it really is a different beast for vaping. It's one of the only bottom feeding device that has stuck around. Especially when dripping on a small prebuilt atomizer was the best vape available. The reo made this so easy and it's moved right along to the RDA's. Albeit if you don't go with one pre-made for bottom feeding it is extra money. So it's more convenient in the end because your juice is just squeeze/squonk away. No more taking tops off, getting a bottle of juice and dripping every few hits. It's also a bullet proof and a well designed device. If anything does go wrong or you have questions the maker is very supportive and will usually work with you to try to best solve your problems. You can't really break the REO. I have one that is 3 years old now and it still works like a champ. I don't use it much because I prefer a regulated vape. If you find a topper you like that you can use with the REO bottom feed you really can't beat the convenience of it. Vape and flavor on demand is the big draw of the REO. I'm really surprised the REO hasn't been cloned at this point.

So what are 2yr. Old reo's selling for?

You don't usually see just a Reo..You see things like..2 year old Reo Grand with brass RM2(atty) brass button cap..Blue door on black wrinkle $200. Has the upgrades for sub ohm. I have seen one or two just mod for $150..but it's been awhile.

I am leaning more towards easily repairable mods myself these days. Rebuilding a regulated mod is a lot of work. I'm working on 3 right now.

Reo: can be completely rebuilt in an hour.

Common mech clones like Stingrays: replacement everything is available. Top caps, buttons, magnets, insulators, pins. I may not bother with other mechs anymore, lol! I might just get Stingrays in every color :laugh:

I got bored with my RM2 recently. Now I have a Divo and Atomic and am really enjoying my Reos again. So I guess if I get bored again, time for new attys.

A two year old reo goes for "like new" because there's a good chance that it will be. Maybe not - they get used in some pretty tough environments - but they're durable little suckers.

I'm thinking that won't be the case with a VS DNA or a Segelei anything.

An important point, I think. Most discussion of the reo assumes a RM atty of some type; that is, it's regarded as an integrated unit, which it's not. Check out ChowderHead's thread for examples of the many atties that can be used with a reo: Magma, Cyclone, Divo, Morpheus, N22, Rogue, Veritas, Big Block, Tobh, Tugboat, etc., etc. Odin's from Loki are also popular.

Sooo... the reo is about bottom fed dripping and a device to accomplish that (with all the attributes discussed above). The topper and vaping style preferences are a separate set of decisions and the reo plays along nicely in that game.

150 for a two year old mod? Jeeze,, might as well just buy a new one for that price. Don't the grands go for like 165 new???

Well... I got all three of mine new from REO. I have, however, considered used ones on more than one occasion. They were all Woodvilles. The reasons people might have (including me) to want Woodvilles is a few paragraphs worth of typing.

I can see why some folks would choose a used metal one even at about the same price. There are finishes that REO doesn't do any more. There's a lot to like about the smooth anodized REOs. ---> And this is a big one: The REO community takes care of each other. Some of those REOs you might find in the classifieds are listed by folks who participate in REOs sub-forum... and get snapped up quick by others who participate in REOs sub-forum. Some of them are collected - some of them end up gifted - some of them might end up for sale again - but regardless of where they end up, that little community likes to take care of each other. ...... And, that's another strong selling point to REOs vs any other mod. There are a lot of really nice and helpful folks who are interested in each others continued success staying off tobacco and enjoying their REOs.

What I like about them is the durability. Spill a drink on or drop a regulated device in a puddle...you might get lucky if you have a bag of rice around. Do the same with a Reo ... a paper towel, possibly a wick change, and your back in business.

Major juice overfill or leak... run your regulated device under the faucet, shake it a couple of times, wipe it down with a paper towel, pop the battery in and try to vape it.

That's exactly why a STANDARD kick module is so relevant;
If you can just pop in a replacement part instead of wondering if to buy a whole new mod, that's what is preferable.
And if you can get by without the kick temporarily, like driving without a spare tire then great.

Modularity is important;
that's why the industry moved from disposables.
That's why the move from disposable cigalikes to disposable plastic tanks.
Then from disposable tanks to permanent tanks with disposable atomizer heads.
Then from disposable heads to rebuildables where you can just buy a roll of wire and wrap your own coils.
Right now we're buying high powered regulated mods, but the next step will be so just replace the chip, like a kick module.
