Help with EGO-T!

Hello all,
I am new to vaping. I was turned on by a co worker and I love it! I love smoking in general but was tired of the smell and the cost! vaping was definitely the answer. I purchased two low res atomizers and two drip tips. My co worker let me borrow his batts. They were the smaller ones I could get about 8 hrs out of them. My girlfriend fell in love with vaping also so we purchased two of the 1000mah EGO-T batteries, two chargers, two low res atomizers and some EGO-T carts. I was using the 510 low res atomizers and drip tips on the batts till our EGO-T carts got here. I just put the EGO-T cart and atomizer on yesterday. I am very unhappy with the taste. I seems like the juice is not getting to the att. I get that burnt taste in my mouth. I tried dripping a few drops in the att and the taste was better till the drops wore out. Any ideas?

Yep - get rid of the ego tanks.

You'll find that's a pretty common issue, and there have been numerous posts on it - burnt taste, plastic taste, no taste, etc.
Either keep dripping for the best taste, switch over to a real tank (there are several suppliers here that make some great ones), or try cartomizers. I prefer Boge cartomizers (a 2.0 would work well on your ego)...they've lasted me longer than any others, allow me to go longer between top offs, and are just in general less of a PITA to deal with. You can find a pack of 5 for around $6 these days if you look.

Good luck :thumb:

Could not have said it better myself. There are several Tank mods available the most popular being the "MAP Tank" from Clouds of vapor. However I have found the biggest drawback with the tanks is that changing the CE2 is a major pain. The Torpedo Tank by JonahNM however has solved that issue and with his changing the CE2 is so much easier. It's a little more expensive at about 60.00 but the end caps are made out of stainless steel.

Nothing has the performance of direct dripping, so just accept that.
The closest you will get to dripping is a bottom feeder mod. (which in a sense is dripping)
Second closest is a cartomizer tank.
    Third closest is a cartomizer.
    Then comes the "T" tanks.

But give credit where credit is due, a lot of people get off analogs using the T tanks that couldn't before.
When I first started vaping all it took was the smallest hiccup, and I was reaching for a cigarette. Because of it's simplicity and reliability, the T tanks solved that.

Thanks for the fast reply! What do you mean by a real tank?

There are several, but they're not hard to find. Off the top of my head JonahNM and Jonboyusmc make some decent looking ones that seem to be favorites among their owners. Stormy's Vapor Cellar sells the Storm tanks, and the arry tanks. Again, those are just a couple that come to mind~ spend some time searching and reading reviews and you're bound to find something you like.

Did you overfill the tanks? Try filling only 3/4 of the tank.

Did the needle in the atomizer fully puncture the tank? If not try taking the cap of the tank & using tweezers or needle nose pliers to remove the tiny round piece of plastic.

When you first opened the package that the atomizers where in did you blow them out to remove the liquid that is in them to begin with? It seems that the atomizers are primed with something when the leave the factory. After a couple of tanks the taste seems to go away.

Is your wick placement correct? This has been a problem for a few people. Check out this youtube vid for a solution. eGo-t wick adjustment - YouTube

When you first put the tank on leave it standing straight up on the battery to allow some of the juice to wick down. I typically give mine anywhere from 2min-10min depending on how anxious I am..

Sorry you are having such a hard time with it. I have had only good luck with them I guess. I ordered all of mine from Cignot. There was a discussion on here about some vendors having a better quality of attys.

I like the ego T's for convenience on my Riva and they work well once you learn the care and feeding of them but I agree they mute the taste a bit. Drippings a pita for me unless I'm sitting at home so I've been most happy with LR carts for taste and ego T's for convenience. I'm awaiting my first bottom feeder right now and I'm hoping it's the best of both worlds.

Are you looking for suggestions on what to purchase or how to get the tanks to work? When you said you tried your friends pv was it a tank or a carto or cart/atty?

Try cartomizers for your favorite juices. More people use cartomizers over tank, carts, dripping. I drip to test juices and to vape a few I like that are too thick for cartos or didn't quite earn a carto. My favorite thinner juices are in cartomizers. The most popular cartomizers for 510 threaded devices are Boge and I recommend you learn on the standard resistance and when you have the hang of keeping them damp and not singeing them, then you could try the hotter LR 2.0 ones or other cartos like dual coils etc.

In standard res Boge 510 cartos I use juices with 20% or less VG and for cartos I avoid juices that leave a lot of flavoring sediment behind.

That's an interesting way to clean it, with the syringe... I'd be careful on the second step, though, not to be too rough with the pressure on the tank-side: sometimes the stock wicks aren't as tight as you'd like 'em to be, and too high of pressure seems like it could jam the wick down to the coil, where the juice build-up on the wick could fuse to the coil.

I think he just got it and is trying to get it to work. The search function isn't really working so it's hard to do a search.

Oh, this might be your problem: if you fill the tank all of the way, you get vapor lock, where the wicking isn't fast enough to keep up with the vaping. You can either take some liquid out (q-tip works), or primer-puff your way to freedom. If you choose the second, you might flood the coil some, but you can vape through it.

You don't want to fill the tanks all the way, and you don't want to run them dry, either (same taste will let you know it's time to refill...)

IMHO trying to make them work consistently is just sooooo frustrating.... Also, when they do work, for me, they are just a waste of juice after trying some good cartos and clearomizers - the eGo-T tanks just don't give you taste.... I completely ditched them and I am not looking back. I am only using cartos for my thinner juices and now the Vision Deux and the CE2 Deluxes from gotvape's for my thicker juices. The only thing I wish at this point, is wish I didn't try so hard to make the e-Go tanks/attys work... I just tossed my money in the trash and got very very frustrated in the process... Now I can say I am finally happy!

WHenever i refill my tank juice i let it sit for about 10 to 20 min so the atty soaks it up eliminating the need to drip.
And fyi, there is a booth on bonanza.com that carries LR ego attys and 650mah batteries for around $10 each.

    *edit*
here is the link to the sellers bootrh.
