Hi Gang,
About a month into vaping and ready to start trying to tweak some of my juice collection. Still haven't fully dropped analogs yet but down to 3 or 4/day so I imagine I can expect taste buds change after fully dropping the analogs. I recently traded away some flavors that I found very bland and the recipients LOVED them (?).

Just read this ENTIRE thread, reading thru some of the linked DIY flavoring thread and a bunch of sweetening threads. Now I'm spinning in info overload. I stored the links for Lorann and I am building an order of tweaking ingredients on Perfumersapprentice.

The following are in my Perfumersapprentice cart and I am wondering if some generous soul might give me some suggestions for drops to add (or some measure of menthol crystals powdered to add) recommendations for tweaking some of my premixed juices (some need some sweet and others need a touch more menthol).

Sweet Cream Flavor-15ml

French Vanilla-15ml

Honey Flavor-15 ml

Marshmallow Flavor-15ml

Ethyl Maltol Liquid (10% PG)-8ml

Menthol Crystals-1 oz

I have some empty mix bottles to play with so I'll probably start with smaller amounts (like 3 to 5 ml to start).

For example, I have some 0 nic mandarin Orange (like 0 nic for late night) that tastes Ok at first but after a couple vape-draws begins to taste more like the rind/peel than the orange, I figure adding either some sweet cream or vanilla or EM might tweak it into a more enjoyable vape (just have no idea of how much to start with and don't want to overdo).

I also have some spearmint (12 mg) that is sooooo strong that I may have to dedicate attys to it. It is 2 day old TV so it may have to sit for a bit but I am hoping that some sweeter additive will soften it and make it more enjoyable. There are a few others but this gives the idea. Obviously there is no nic in any of these listed and I hope to learn drop amounts to add without diluting taste. I do have some 48 liq nic and 24 in pg/vg base too.

This is a great thread and the patience of the "seasoned" mixers is really amazing. I just hope there is enough patience left to help me cause after all this reading, my head is swimming a bit!

T.I.A. :)

Assuming 10% is based on volume, if your 2.5 is in ml you need 25ml of PG.

However, it's twice as soluble in PGA. With 190 proof Everclear you can dissolve 1g in 3 to 5ml.

Thanks for all your help PureVapor... and others. ;) I only have 80 proof vodka so would EM be soluble at the same rate as with PGA? The small bottles of crystals from PA are 2.5 ml, correct? So how much vodka do I need to add or would I be better mixing it with PG?

I'm trying to get more depth to my DIY and can't seem to find the magic ingredient. Is anyone willing to share? With the creamier flavors I've noticed that "air" helps blend the flavors some. Does anyone know what the ingredients in Magic Vape or Vape Wizard/Vape Heaven is and would they help?

Southwest, I'm going to leave your questions for those experienced so I don't give you wrong information. I added Cotton Candy to Tangerine and it helped give it more of the fruit taste verses the rind taste you mentioned. It still seemed to be missing something but I couldn't figure out what it was.

If you take the sugar out of orange juice, it is bitter. You can't vape sugar so of course the orange flavoring is not going to be like a popsicle. Vaping is much cleaner and thinner than smoking so what you're missing there is really that thickness of burning. It's also not a real taste, it's more in between odor and taste, and it doesn't coat your tongue like a food does. Try eating cake or something sweet and not too flavorful while you vape your orange.

With vodka or any other alcohol the rest is water, so your 80 proof is really 60% water and 40% ethanol. You can distill it further with evaporation or freezing but unless you can get over 100 proof alcohol, PG is better.

Depth is related to that first paragraph, but you can try adding small amounts of base flavors to help. A bit of vanilla and ethyl maltol or even a chocolate or nutty flavor can give the orange flavor depth. I don't think there's a magic ingredient, but not all flavors are equal and neither are all recipes or taste buds. Some might like the orange from FA more than PA, or vice versa.

I think that by now we all know that the key flavoring ingredient in "Ecopure Rich" is EM and that there is a trace of one or more common sweets, possibly vanilla or butterscotch as well. While I've mixed variants of this that I'm pretty happy with, I've never gotten it spot on.

Does anyone have a recipe where they feel they've really nailed it?

It depends on if you want the whole vanilla experience or just the simple vanilla that's just a singular ingredient, vanillin. If you're using it as a background then the simple one is probably better for your purposes. There are also flavorings that have vanillin in them in addition to other ingredients, like many Cream, Custard, and Bakery flavors. FA has a lot of those and other companies sometimes have one or two as well.

Some simple vanillas: Capella Vanilla Custard, PA French Vanilla

Some complex vanillas: FlavourArt Vanillas, PA Vanilla (Bourbon)

I tend to use either Capella's Vanilla Custard or PA's Bavarian Cream if I want a more creamy taste to the mix. When I just want the vanilla flavor, I use Capella's or PA's French Vanilla. I like the taste better than a plain vanilla in my mixes.

Note: None of those have an alcohol taste to them.

I agree 100%- PAs Bavarian cream is a wonderful addition and vanilla custard from Capellas is a must have in a DIY kit
