Help with Ethyl Maltol Solution

Are you still using splendex? If so, how's it working for you? Have you tried any other sweetner?
Still use it in my sweet cherry dreams mix and other fruit flavors, no problems. And I have only tried the slpendex, I have not tried stevia.
Added, Linda from Perfumers apprentice, also sent me a sweetener sample and I have yet gotten time to test it or ask what is in it. Will post more when I find out.

Do you buy it in liquid or powder form? If liquid have you had a problem with it going bad? Someone mentioned somewhere that it goes bad quick.
Use the liquid form and store it with my ejuice (cool dry dark place), taste the same and I have had it for months now.

So, N-liquid finally arrived, and after taking care of immediate needs (read: plain vanilla, cinnamon, spearmint), I had enough left to start some experiments.
Using my calculations from a few posts above, that is - in ml - what I used:
Pre-Mix:
2 drops of TA = 0,1ml
1/4 tbsp EM = ~1,25ml
10 ml alcohol
Use 0,05ml of that pre-mix with 1ml of liquid. (Actually, I used 0.1ml with 1ml PG and 1ml 24 n-liquid.)
If I have not miscalculated, that is 2 permille of TA. Seems like an acceptable amount of oil even in juice.
I had this absolutely wonderful "Tobacco" liquid from a good, but not exactly cheap vendor, who into the bargain charges an arm and a leg in shipping charges to here. I am soooo glad I did not order, because this is almost exactly the same taste, if currently a bit stronger. I'm affraid they lost a customer, at least for that liquid
Somehow I see a few mixes in the making with that liquid, too. Tomorrow, when I am down to earth again

Careful with that EM people! I received my order of 10/90 EM/PG from Perfumer's Apprentice and added ~10 drops to a 5ml bottle of "Awesom Vapor" 555 that was very flat/dry. Long story short, that was 2 hours ago and I'm still trying to get the intense chemical taste/smell out of my head. The atty is soaking in cola. Trying to vape this caustic blend off my 801 was the second worst vaping mistake I have made (the first being 10 drops of EM to a 5ml bottle of 555 ). Hence, a little goes a LONG way!

Scubabatdan, have you had a chance to try the sweetener sample from PA? I can't stand the aftertaste of Splendex and it makes me feel nauseated. Do you know what PA's sweetener is?
I am not Dan but have tried PA's liquid splenda. I have not noticed an aftertaste even in my tea or coffee.
I know that liquid splenda is usually made from pure sucralose and distilled water. The pure does not have the fillers found in the packaged splenda I buy at the store.
The PA website says it is Splenda, Water, and PG. I am not sure why the PG is added except maybe to inhibit bacterial growth.
I agree with Ast_Isis, I have not experianced an after tase with PA sweetener, it is not as strong as liquid sucralose, but it does have a better natural flavor IMHO.

I want to use EM as a sweetener/taste enhancer as well as with TA.
Rather than buy a fifth of PGA which is all that the liquor stores have here, I bought some 100 proof. I know a lot of people use 50% water and 50% PGA so the 100 proof works great for that.
But how will it work with Dan's TA calculation. Will it?
Also when dissolving the EM crystals without TA to use as I would Sucralose can I use the 100 proof vodka with PG or should I use PG only and what would be the best ratio to use for this as I would Sucralose.

Some people have an abboration to any alcohol in their mixes, this is why I have moved to using PG only for EM and TA. The only thing I use PGA in is the menthol crystals. I use 1/4tsp per 10ml of PG and then run it under hot water, it usually takes 4-6 hours to completely disolve in the PG. It will disolves faster in PGA and 100 proof, if you have no problems with alcohol then I would use the 100 proof. You can use any combination of PG and 100 proof with the EM, since your goal is to make a an EM concentrate that will be added to you ejuice just like any flavoring.

What about a PG/VG mix? (80/20) Can you add the drops to that? I have a pg/vg mix, and I have straight VG, but not straight pg.
I got my bottle of powder EM, and want to mix up some liquid so I can make the EcoPure Fresh. Isn't that VG only?
Help! I thought I read somewhere that you were supposed to add PG/PGA to the bottle, fill it to the top (of crystals) and then dissolve it. But from what I"ve read in this thread, you are taking out 1/4 tsp and mixing that with 9ml PG.
which one is it?
