Help with Ethyl Maltol Solution

What about a PG/VG mix? (80/20) Can you add the drops to that? I have a pg/vg mix, and I have straight VG, but not straight pg.

I got my bottle of powder EM, and want to mix up some liquid so I can make the EcoPure Fresh. Isn't that VG only?

Help! I thought I read somewhere that you were supposed to add PG/PGA to the bottle, fill it to the top (of crystals) and then dissolve it. But from what I"ve read in this thread, you are taking out 1/4 tsp and mixing that with 9ml PG.

which one is it?

Ok, the filling the bottle with crystals you are refering to is for menthol crystals. EM has always been 1/4tsp per 10ml. Yes you can add it to straight PG, PG/VG mix or straight VG. The only problem with the VG is increased absorbtion time. Run in under hot water and shake the heck out of it and let it sit. It could take aup to a day to dissolve.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have fifty-thousand bookmarks, trying to sort all this info out is overwhelming! I *just* started vaping, so I've been piecemealing the supplies, and always finding one more thing I need!

Ok, one more question, I haven't ordered any plain nicliq yet, so if I wanted to add the drops to something I already have, and don't like, what would be the ratio? Just a couple drops? Or is there a formula?
(although I love your calculator- just can't use it-- XL and me don't compute)

EDIT: Ok, I made some mix. I halved it. Mixed *about* 1/8 tsp w/ *about* 4ml PG/VG. The mix wasn't disolving under the hot water, so I put it in a little baby food jar, heated up some water in my tea kettle, then poured the (almost) boiling water in the jar. It dissolved instantly! I added about 2 drops of the EM mix to 20 drops of the PG/VG and about 10 drops of the VG. It tasted great.. vaped OK. Since I don't have any straight nic juice, I had to vape it at 0nic. Did I make it right?

CHC is correct, if you download or have downloaded v9 of the eJuice calculator, look on the Additional Mixing Help tab. It walks you through mixing TA (Tobacco Absolute) and EM (Ethyl Maltol) to make your own tobacco flavoring. It also has links to a vendor that supplies them.

I know my friend cuts his VG with water, which I would assume takes down some of his sweetness, but could adding Ethyl Maltol help too? If so does one buy the crystals or liquid?

You can try adding marshmallow flavoring to your liquids to sweeten them.

Yes, and it does not matter if it is crystal or liquid. Only difference is the crystal you will have to disolve in some medium. The liquid can be used immediatly.

We did cheer for the first time this year. Boy that was crazy, but they took first place in our compitition Boo-ya! (down in Navarre) Wow.. it actually was fun. That reminds me! Sign ups are right now... gotta get my papers into the rec center, or I have to pay a late fee!

My apologies for repeating a question. Can you add 1/4 tsp of Ethyl Maltol to 10 mls of PGA? Can it be 80 proof vodka? I don't want to buy a big bottle of everclear, as I don't drink. If not I will just add a 1/4 tsp to PG.

The sucralose I have seems to take alot of drops to get it at my sweet level.

You can cut EM with PG at a rate of 1/4 tsp per 10 ml. It just takes a little longer to dissolve. 5 seconds in the microwave solve that problem.

Have you ever had it 'recrystalize'? Someone told me to be careful and not overheat it, or the crystals would come back. Can''t remember where I saw that. But I found the last time I made some, that's exactly what happened. I pour (almost) boiling water over my little vial, and it took about 4 to 5 times before it "took".

BTW, what temp do you nuke at? high? med?

I have the 2.5 bottle for PA. do I just mix it with 50 ml of Propylene Glycol to make a base to make the 10% Cotton candy? Sorry I know this is confusing but it seems like there are two different conversations going on in this topic and one is for TA and the other is for a base aka cotton candy recipe..

yikes, if you think you need that much EM

I mix a dram bottle at a time (which is approx 4ml) I add 1/8 tsp of the crystal EM and fill the rest with PG. That lasts me quite awhile (or it should- but I keep giving it away).

I don't know how long the mixed liquid lasts. You might as well just mix up a smaller bottle and cap the EM crystals back up for a later day.
