Interesting info about stabilized wood, thanks for that; I'll investigate.

Yes, i use lifepo4's for 6v in other mods; do you use these in your 801 woodvil?

P

Yes. I use 6v in Wood Reos and Grands, with 801, 510, 306. With the 801 3.5 Ohm, at 6v is a little cool, for some juices, so I'll use <3.5 down to 3 Ohm depending on the juice. I have some 801s up to and above 4.0 ohm but rarely use them. 2.5 Ohm 801 is pretty nice for 5v, which fits Wood and Metal Reos.

I have some 901 atty/cartos, and Empire Drip Shields but haven't had time to play with them.

Yes I'm using a standard DSE801 3.0 ohm at 5v on my passthru at the moment; I reckon you're right on with the 2.5 ohm - that would give it just that litte more.

I dithered and dithered again today.... first sent Rob an email saying that I'd decided to "play it safe" and go with a 510, then a couple of hours later (when I got home and picked up my passthru), I thought sod it; i can get a grand for my 510 and 306 needs.... so I just this minute emailed Rob YET AGAIN (God he must be p@£$ed off with me by now!) saying I'd finally, finally FINALLY decided to go with my original plan of a native 801.

I haven't heard back from him yet (he'll be bashing his head rhythmically against his work surface no doubt) but my decision is made.

phew.

Thanks again for all your input Alice; It's good to know that there's someone at least who uses the 801 native (I think it was the fact that most people don't that was causing me to doubt myself over this one).

luvya,

Paul

Don't worry. Rob is used to our indecisions and changes. He has the patience of a Saint. He doesn't bang his head, though, he goes out and tosses himself in the dirt.

hey Alice, what resistance would you recommend for 6v; I'm thinking of getting some standard dse801's from eastmall; I think they're about 3.0 right? have you tried these at 6v?

I use 6v with 3.0 with sweet, light colored, mostly caramel and butterscotch type juices. Some of my juices are 100% VG but thinned with PGA. COV butterscotch is a good example. His VG juices are a lot thinner than, say, Alien Vision Juices, but they, AVE can be thinned a little with PGA, vodca, or distilled water if needed. The FSUSA Hopscotch is 50/50 and is light and sweet as is the FSUSA Butterscotch Almond. The newest FSUSA VG/PG Applewood is darker than it used to be and is not nearly as sweet as the others mentioned. I like to put about 1/4 COV Butterscotch in it.

I use the above mentioned juices at 3.7 v, 2.0 ohm 801 but I like it a little hotter so prefer 1.8 ohm. Those juices, using LR 510 and 306, 1.5 ohm lose flavor but I do it anyway. My preferred is 1.7 ohm. 2 ohms gives more flavor but is not quite as hot as I like.

Tobacco flavors can go lower than the sweet flavors I use without losing much flavor. I don't like any fruits so I can't advise on that. I have one 4.9 ohm 801 that I used at 7.4 v and it was too cool for me using above juices. 4 ohm was better.

Hugs, Alice

I'm probably going to have Rob convert one or two of my Woodvils to 801, some day. Now that the Mini Woodvils are here, what DH has been wanting for ever, I don't have to worry about him having to use a Woodvil at 801. He does best with 510. Some days he want 1.5 ohm, some days, 1.8-1.7 and occasionally 2.0 but, after a day at 2.0, he's complaining he's not getting the TH he wants. He's a purist and uses only mild tobacco flavors. We tried some PG after we had switched him to 100% VG, due to problems with PG, and he started having some issues again. I'm now doing, for him mostly FSUSA Cuban, 100% VG, extra flavor, but mixing some nic no flavor in with it to mild down the flavor.

I'm getting my first Midi Woodvil as 801.

so, 3.0 ohm for sweet style juices at 6v, tobaccos 2.5 ohm at 6v? or can you go lower than that in your experience with 801?

I was assuming you already had woodvil(s) with native 801?

I've been trying to find info on the midi woodvil (I assume Rob hasn't made any yet...) can you tell me, or point me towards some info, about these; i.e. battery, bottle size, voltage options? I'm assuming that it's a 3.7 only device with (perhaps) bigger bottle size and more battery life than the mini; am I right or is there more to it?

By the way, forgive my ignorance, but what is PGA? (is it propylene glycol something - forgive probably incorrect spelling!)

Midvil Specs...
Battery AW IMR 18490 which is the same diameter as the 18650, but the height of a AW IMR 14500 (1100mah)
Bottle 3ml's
PGA= Pure Grain Alcohol 100 proof or stronger clear liquor. :)

So far not made. 3.7v's or possibly 6v's using these 14520 3v batts... http://www.rtdvapor.com/IFR-14250-32v-14250.htm

Thanks, so essentially a mini with bigger capacity battery (longer between charges)?
what about the size of the mod itself; will it be the same a mini or bigger?

Everyone wanted a mod that could use 1 batt for 1 3ml bottle. This battery should accomplish that well. No size specs have not been released other than its between the full and mini woodvil sizes. My guess would be the height of a mini and the width of a full sized strickly being dictated by the battery that it will utilize...

Lisa:wub: Beat me to it... :)

thanks..... now i'm trying to research stabilised woods....

on a different note; The woodvil/mini woodvil can't be pure mechanical mods (as the grand and mini are) I assume because there's a degree of wiring in there for the button and switch; am I right?

Correct....
