Smoking rules likely to evolve for electronic cigarettes - WLOX.com - The News for South Mississippi

So a week before this story, I emailed this station to see if they would put a story on e-cigarettes. Not sure if it was because of my email, but they did a story, but it turned out to be mainly on vaping in public. I fired an email back after the story aired and explained, as I hope y'all will agree, that the real issue wasn't so much that, that most of us don't mind the not vaping in the no-smoking places, but the issue was the e-cigarette being banned, FDA, regulations, taxes, and so forth. I also knocked the quoted independent study as compared to cigarettes and such. I'm trying to include the help of my local vendor here in town, but not sure what will come of that. My point being is that I'm launching my own call-to-action I suppose, because how long will it be till this state follows suit with the others in taxes, banning, and such. Would y'all be willing to send this guy an e-mail on your success or anything that could be of help? Or am I getting carried away, don't know, seems hard to sit here and do nothing.

Word is out I see people responding here locally, hope to get more across the board, weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Also, the reporter who did the story actually emailed me back, kind of shocked at that. He said he would continue to follow the story.

that many states like to follow what the southern and far western states do.
I already see. just from the first few paragraphs of the story, that some "education" is
in order and that some of the story could use some rebuttal and even a retraction of at
least one statement.

Also, the Hotel manager could use some educating on "Smoke vs Vapor", which could likely
open the door for a "smoke free" but "vapor permitted" environment.

Will let you know what I get accomplished


One thing that really gets me is this statement --

""It's a technology that's in its infancy and has no long term studies,"

For starters, it is not really in ""its infancy" as these have been around now for well over 5 years and
have well over a few million users.
It still amazes me how so many people can be so "blind" to facts even when they are right there is front
of them in plain to see subjects (users) and figures (studies such as CSA).
Although I will agree there are no real solid scientific facts on many aspects, years of use by individuals
should be proof enough for most -- I mean, after giving a rat chocolate for a month and seeing hyper-activity
vs giving a rat chocolate for a year and seeing a fat, sluggish rat says a lot about what effects chocolate
has on a rat in one month vs one year...
So... someone who has only been vaping a month may still experience breathing and coughing issues while
the user of a year + has no adverse health issues at all is "Proof" that they are not as bad as people are trying
to make them out to be.

Speculative Proof = Acid Might Burn You
Definitive Proof = I splashed my face with the Acid and it ate my face off!



What really gets me even more so is that people KNOW millions have died from
smoking yet will continue to smoke and support it and even protect and defend it
but Not One Person has ever reported any serious (or even minor lasting) ill effect
from an e-cig yet so many are against them and don't even know what they are
about and even state they have no idea what is in them.

Lets see - I know what is in both e-cigs and regulars and I will take the E-cig!
