Help!

Hi everybody,

Just a quick question I’m preety sure of the issue just want some advice.

Using my Pulse 24 rta and all I can describe this as is inhaling a Bon fire.


Sometimes when I put the top back on after dripping I guess the cap is pushing to tight on the coil? Which will then glow red and just blow out hot disgusting smoke, which I normally clock and don’t inhale but today didn’t and literally was coughing my guts up for ages.

Question is what is actually doing this to the coil? Am I right the lid is to tight and anybody had this before.

Also anything to worry about inhaling the bonfire

It's kinda hard to say without at least a pic of your build.
Judging from my own experience i'd say your cotton is probably loose in your coil and there's a gap which means there's nothing in that gap to cool the coil down since it dosen't touch the cotton.

Could be there's too much cotton aswell, chocking the coils but i'm no expert in rtas anyway so i'm just guessing.

Well, the cap isn't, or shouldn't be, touching the coil. If it is, you'd get a short. You're describing a dry hit, which is almost always a result of wicking. If you can post more info, like your build, and even a photo of how you have it wicked, solutions will be easier to provide. Oh, and what mod are you using the rda on?

I think it’s more then likely shorting it and I’m getting that smoke as a result.

Rest of the time it’s fine, running build at 0.31

Using on my switcher as I’ve lost the battery adapter for my pulse sqonk

Coils look disgusting but I’m using a strawberry shortcake juice, run out of my normal juice and having to use my reserves I don’t really like lol.

I would pull the wick and dry burn the coils to ensure they heat up evenly. Retighten your post screws and then re-wick.
What metal is used in your coils? SS/nichrome/kanthal?
How many watts are you using with this build?
What is the PG content and nicotine level of the juice you are using?
Did you build and wick the device or was it done for you?

If it was shorting (touching the cap) it wouldn't read and your ohms would read 0.00. It should not vape at all under those circumstances so I don't think that's it. It's something else.

Post a picture of your build. However grody looking it is it will probably help identify the issue. etc.

Going from that photo (BTW, I've vaped coils way dirtier than that so nothing to be ashamed of) it's your wicking. Get some more wick inside those coils.

As Anna pointed out, if you shorted to the cap, a regulated mod like the Switcher would not fire, just give you a check atomizer notice or warning. And as Izan pointed out, before inserting fresh wick, light up those coils to make sure the glow evenly with no hot spots or differences between the two coils. They should stay matched as you apply power.

The profile is a mesh atty. I’m vaping one right now. Previous posts have mentioned dry hits. IMHO that is what you are seeing.

Mesh attys are easy to have a dry hit with and the dry hits are often particularly bad. With a mesh atty it is absolutely critical for the wick to be totally wet (jelly looking) and be in full contact with the coil at all points.

To help with this the bottom part of the profile wick area is actually a spring loaded plunger that forces the wick into the coil. It is IMHO not strong enough for the job it needs to do. It is important with a profile to use a LOT of cotton. I commonly use half a muji pad per wick. The spring needs to be forced down so it can push back up.
