So, again I am wondering............Stormy's offers ready wires in 1.5"NR and 2"NR. Will either work with my Ithaka clone that should be here soon? I read that some were a little too short, and giving people trouble........Which are you guys ordering/using?

You want the longer ones for the Ithaka clones...

If you are offered two sticks, and one is "too short", is it not sensible to pick the longer of the two offered?

Hi again guys

So im about to order the mouthpiece and checked out the readywire, but i dont know if this is the short one or if its long enough Fertigdraht 1.8 Ohm , will this one work on ithaka clones?

Im also not a fan of very hot vapes, pbusardo said in his review it gave a pretty warm vape, so maybe i should buy readywire at 2.0ohms or maybe even higher? whats ur thoughs on that?

Thanks again for ur help

Those are the shorter wires.

Single or dual coils?

So just what kind of mod are you going to use this with?

I don't care for a hot vape either (or a lot of throat hit). I set mine up with Stormy's 1.8 Ω ready-wires in a single coil with another wick (without a coil) over it in an "X" configuration. Smooths out the vape dramatically, and cuts the warmth by at least half, and I personally think it has much more flavor. Great vapor production as well.

For those that like a warm vape - just add a second coil. A double coil will usually produce a warmer vape (depending on how many Watts you run at).

Give it a shot....you might like like it.

They also offer 1"NRand I thought it may have been the one that was troublesome.........(return to your bewilderment)

I don't know if this will help but if you are used to vaping at around 8watts on a single coil and you are going for dual coil unregulated then I would get the 2.0 ready wires to make a 1.0 dual coil. I'm sure I will be corrected by somebody with all the maths about the exact watts/voltage it is but I'm just telling you what feels right to me. Unfortunately SVC only seems to have the 2.0 ready-wires at 1.5"NR right now but they will fit...I only get about 1 & 1/2 wraps around the positive post but I can make it work. Again I don't know if the watts are the same and frankly I don't care that much...the vape is perfection. You have to take into account that your getting vapor from 2 coils at lower heat. I get the same amount of vapor/throat hit as I do at 8watts but the flavor is better (the juice I have tastes better at lower heat so this is the best of both worlds for me).

Have to say I totally agree. I usually vape a fruity liquid in my Herc, and I've experimented with single and dual coil builds. The dual builds seem to get this particular note I'm always looking for out of the juice without the excessive heat. At the moment I have them in the "stock" parallel configuration as the X style seems to make the top coil stick up too high for me. I also generally have better luck with an extra 2 mm wick cut just to the width of the ceramic, trapped under the main wick with the coil. Seems to keep more juice at the coil and adds a bit more moisture to the vape for me.

OK. Thanks a lot! Depending on the juice, I go up pretty high on the watts .....

If you wrap a 1 Ω coil on a piece of 1 mm silica containing 1/2 a drop of juice then it might be a "little" hot but when it's around a piece of respectable sized soaking wet piece of wick then it is simply devine, of coarse this is just my opinion, LOL (2 x 1 Ω in this example)

Let us know how it goes!

Well, after about 7 weeks, and just posting about that time in another thread, I finally had a wire pop.. Oh well, 7 weeks without a rebuild or loss of vapor / flavor was a good run... Especially using ready-wires. ;)

The XC-116 ceramic wicks are still in good shape. Instead of dry-burning with a mech like usual, yesterday, I used a small butane torch. Did a nice job, but I think it weakened the join on one of the wires. I use the Herc on a ProVari, and didn't even notice the popped wire until it seemed my battery life was longer than normal.. The vape seemed pretty much the same even on one 2.0 ohm wire @ 3.8v, which surprised me.

I rebuilt this morning using 2 small pieces of fresh XC-116 side-by-side (MrKrinkle method) with a single 2.2 ohm ready-wire around the middle of both. It came out to 3 nicely spaced wraps dead-center over the air-tube. I'm getting a great vape with the ProVari set @ 4.3v... :) If this build will go another 7 weeks or more, next time, I'm going for two 3.0 ohm Kanthal ready-wires for a 1.5 dual-coil when they're back in-stock.

Kanthal Wire Coils, 50 Pack

Well, I had to switch the wick/coils last night - noticed the remaining juice had gone dark..

The 28awg coils were not "fouled", but the wicks were a nasty mess - and somehow the ceramic edge cracked a lip off near the pos-side, in a corner, (meaning inserting a coil requires extreme care). I burned the pair of them in the stove-top flame as I recoiled, and the old wicks and coils are pretty again.

New setup is Mrkrinkle, but just a single coil around an ohm or so, but the other half of the X is just a wick itself, crossing over the coil. Working fine.

What's the trick to loosening the draw of this bad boy? It's like trying top suck a watermelon through a straw!

Please ignore this post if your question is now resolved, but I wanted to address this as an issue I had when purchasing a cloned version. The center post on mine was not completely drilled out and when the device was fully assembled this issue blocked "all" airflow. I had to have mine exchanged and the replacement is working fine.
