I want a silver bullet so bad I can literally feel it in my empty hand. Unfortunately one thing is stopping me cold: My aluminum wheels on my truck. High polish aluminum is going to be a lot more work than I'd like to keep looking pristine.

Is there any chance you'll be offering a hard anodized or powder coated or other finish other than optical mirror shiny polished aluminum?

Common sense tells me that something meant to be held in the hand cant maintain that finish without work...lookin to avoid work :D .

I suppose I could steel wool it and paint it with BBQ-pit paint...but i don't believe i could bring myself to do it.

I think "crinkle finish" paint is a lost art nowadays so that's likely out..besides it's prone to filth and edge (of the crinkles) wear.

I don't have a nearby powdercoating shop around that i'm aware of..nor a chromer, nor an anodizing shop that i'm aware of...and it'd have to be dismantled and prepped (switch/atty connector protected) which are things beyond my ability probably, and certainly not something i'd trust to a random shop.

It's killing me that it's aluminum now :( i want it darn it!...especially since i just convinced the wife to get me one for christmas!

I have been using the SB for around 2 weeks now. I have never cleaned it with any sort of polish. I simply wipe it off with a damp rag every now an then. Still looks great.

using what chad recommended to use, the Mothers Aluminum polish...I've noticed that it has helped with resisting my smudges. I still wipe it down every week or two to give it that 'PZZZZAAAAHHH' look. Regardless, at the moment there are no plans to change the way the silver bullet is. But maybe we'll see about getting a few done and go from there ;P

I really dont know what a good hard anodize job costs, but i know i have a 8 dollar chinese flashlight ive tossed in my tool box from 10 feet on more drunken occasions than i care to admit and it still looked so good i butchered it for a battery mod (one of those occasions the button went flying and the lens glass exploded) Not to say it doesnt have scratches mind you, but its that *Groovy* finish that non polish wheels come with and anodized..and you gotta get on top of it to see the scratches.

My personal favorite finish is matte black...which would match my attys come to think of it...but almost anything low maint would be great for future pondering

:p You polish your wheels... a bullet is much smaller... so whats the problem?

I quit polishing them after the first year or so ...lol in fact...i think i polished them once..most of the way, and said hell with this. theyre about 5 years old..thinkin of sprayin them with that acid cleaner...i mean they were high polish..but at this point even the dingy acid look would be an improvement.

I would powdercoat the SB before I would hard anodize, the casing is used as a conductor. LOL I really don't want to fight with connection issues. :p

Maybe my flashlight is soft anodized? haha..but seriously, i duno wtf the coating is on it, but its not causing any conductivity issues, voltmeter reads no matter where i stick it on the case..its one of those dirt cheap LED flashlights..or was, before i gutted it and made it something new

Hey: at least i didn't suggest parkerizing it LOL
