Sadly, no. I live in a 1300sq foot condo, usually out of the house 10+ hrs a day. It just wouldn't be fair.
then keep the kitty. I have a feeling she/he will make your life much more pleasant.

Oh, totally. I'm a sucker for animals. They'll do something like pee in the bed WHILE WE'RE IN IT and I'll bee ...... off for a few hours, then they'll do something cute while playing and I'll remember that for days...
