Hello everyone, My names Chase, or Caddyman, or Caddy, whatever you like :)

I am from Delaware, work full time in an office. I was smoking about a pack of analogs a day and i had 3 yesterday with the help from my new ecigarettes.

My overpriced and underpowered ecig, cause im dumb. No really I am dumb..and impulsive. You see a few months ago a friend that had used a really cheap ecig to quit analogs let me borrow his to try.

Well it was real cheap, didnt work too good, no much vapor, etc. I am a forum junky, I own 4 forums and participate on 10 or more so then, a few months ago, i found this forum and read up on a lot of this stuff.

So I am at the mall the other day and my wife is buying a new phone and I get to talking to the smoke-free guy (smokefreeonline) and he gave me a
"good deal" which was a good deal for what he was selling and his prices and i bought.

it works, it's ok, but i feel like there is a lot better out there and for a lot less as well. i am looking for something like what i have as far as form factor and looks. i am trying to quit and i would like a vape that looks similar to a cigarette.

i checked out the vaporkings site after seeing one of the senior members here mentioned in their signature they used a KR808D1. i guess THIS* is what they were referring to. that looks pretty good, and a lot cheaper then i spent as well. what are you alls thoughts on a setup like that with the cartomizers and all. i want something simple, affordable, i can get a good pull off of and not looks like a freak in public...lol

i am a modder, techy, person, and might dabble in that as well if i can get into this hobby. i am big into cell phones and modding, cars, computers, etc.

Hi And welcome to the forum.

It is nice to dabble in modding, that is how new e-cig innovations come about. But if you really want to try an e-cig why buy the garbage from the mall when you can get a better quality one from many of the vendors here on the forum?

If you have been going through this forum then you should be able to see how many choices that you will have and it will just be a matter of finding the the right one for you so you can enjoy your vaping experience.

Hey there Caddy, I think the kr808D-1 is a fine choice for a decent starter. If I'm reading you right, it should serve you well until you get your first home made mod done anyway.
It took me less than a month after I started vaping to have made myself a box mod and a couple for friends.
You're gonna fall into this head first buddy, mark my words. ;)

Oh, by the way, about cartomizers, I never used them until about a month ago and now I love them. Much easier than fooling around with carts and attys and if you refill 'em until they're dead I think they're a little cheaper.

Welcome caddy,

Personally, I would prefer something that doesn't look like a cigarette. I think that opens up more possibilities when considering things like battery life, overall performance, durability, etc. I do feel a bit self-conscious sucking on a big black thing when driving through town, however. I'm considering trying different flavors so that vaping is even less like smoking. It seems to me that it may be helpful for there to be an obvious distinction between vaping and smoking. If vaping is better, it might as well look better and taste better?

I mostly use atomizers and cartridges because cartridges are easier to refill than cartomizers. But I have some cartomizers for traveling because they're easier to swap when driving.

welp, i took a look and it seems i am stuck with this ecig i have here from smokefreeonline. i bought it at the mall but they clearly state on the site no refunds and im sure they wont budge in store.

that sucks, oh well.

um, so can anyone point me in a direction (if it exists) of any tips and tricks for this style of ecig? what cart/liquid options do i have with this thing? any? i hope!

it is similar to the kr8 i guess but it is 3 pieces.

Wow, they are charging $55 for an atomizer and $55 for a battery!!

From the looks of the picture on the website, I think you probably have an RN4081 atomizer.
You can find replacements for less than $10 and batteries for less than $15 from various vendors here.

Do not buy anything from that website ever again.
Consider that your first tip!

Also, it looks like you probably have automatic batteries.
If so, it will probably take some practice to get it working good.

Stand in front of a mirror and watch the LED as you take drags.
You want to see how hard you need to draw on it to get that LED lit.
And you want to see how hard you need to draw on it to keep it lit as long as possible.

For some automatic batteries your only choice is to do consecutive short drags.
And it is often said that a quick short initial draw (primer puff) followed by a real drag will work well.

Most people recommend slower, longer draws.
I recommend buying a manual battery.

Greetings Chase!

I recommend that you read thru DonDaBoom's 6-part series

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html#post552767

Great info and illustrations of the various models and a primer on modding.

Been cruising the Modders Forum lately and I'm starting to get the itch. I'm a tinkerer too, but wanted to stay away from it..just too many projects going on right now. But the lure is too much and I'm having a hard time resisting the urge.

Good luck in your new journey!

i hate to keep posting here but i think it makes the most sense.

i am reading up here but a lot of the specific stuff especially for my off brand cig is hard to find. i know eventually i will have to replace my atomizer so here i am after a google search for "RN4081 atomizer"

XXX.google.com/products?q=RN4081+atomizer&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=6wQiTNGbEoa6jAep4djKBA&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCUQrQQwAA

this one here looks exactly like what i have now - XXX.shop.nosmoke4u.com/images/1258199507414-1109161739.jpeg

then toward the bottom of the result page i see these 901-4081 adapters and all kinds of stuff. do you guys know or have suggestions about any of this? can i use an adapter to get to a better atomizer or should i just stick with what i have OEM style?

Yes, you can use those adapters to try other atomizers if you want.

In my opinion, the RN4081 is a great little atomizer, but it doesn't really get the respect it deserves. I think that is probably because most people start using an RN4081 with automatic batteries, and they have a lot of trouble due to the automatic batteries, but they blame the entire unit.

That is exactly what happened to me.
